The correct answer is YES.

Why?

Becuase it makes me want to vomit, that's why!

Whoever you are, woman or man, YOU DON'T NEED IT!

If you don't like the way you look, the worst thing you can do to yourself is put paint all over your face.

It's just so gross!!!!!!!

I hate the way lip gloss shines when the light hits it. I hate the way eye shadow leaks when it gets wet. I hate the way foundation comes off and you can see two different face colours. And I HATE fake nails! And I HATE the way all of this stuff smells! Its nauseating!!! HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE!

If you wear makeup, please tell me why you think you need it, and I'll tell you why you don't.

Wow lots of hate lol

um if you feel so strongly about this I have to ask if you use cologne, deodorant, aftershave, shampoo, conditioner, or hair gel?
Cause all this is "cosmetic" for men and it also smells.

btw I am very amused by your utter hate for cosmetics.

Make up doesn't have to be paint like lol, and fake nails are for the rich (haha)... I wear makeup because 1. I don't like sunscreen on my face and so make up with an SPF in it is the best alternative and 2. Even skin-tone and no dark circles under my eyes (which is a genetic pigment issue, not a diet/sleep issue for me) gives me a boost in self-esteem when I am out in public.

I don't wear make up everyday, I don't wear it to go to the library or the shops (usually, unless its a really bad-skin day) but when I dress for the occasion (work, weddings, events, church etc) its going to look nicer... and I LIKE looking presentable, is that a crime? I'm not blessed with overly attractive features or body and so I have to work with what I am given.

I think while your comments are valid and allowed - they are very generalised and sterotypical.. not all women wearing make-up look like clowns. I bet you wouldn't even know some people had it on!!

:D so there.... :D

I do not think that if a woman wears makeup it is bad. I could not live without my beauty supplies. I know women who choose not to wear make up and look great, but as for me I wear makeup.

Hi Narn

Yes from that list I use shampoo. This is for cleanliness only and doesn't stay on my body (unless I forget to wash it out). I just can't stand the thought of having chemicals on my skin all day, yuk!!!

Excuses excuses! lol

But I don't get it. WHY do you need to look 'nicer' when you go to events? If you're relying on makeup to make you look nicer, then isn't it all just a bit fraudulent! If people know that's not what you look like anyway, then why bother wearing it?

Without having seen you I can guarantee you that you look better without makeup.

Seoulsearch had a great thread that talked about makeup and other artificial things.

For me, I've never liked makeup. I don't like the way it feels and I don't like the look of it in most cases. That said, I do use a mineral powder on occasion. Like Taz said, it has SPF in it and for me it evens my skin tone out. I use compressed powder sometimes as well. I've always been grossed out by lipstick/lip gloss. Weird I know, but I've always thought it was gross. I'm not a fan of nail polish either and I've never liked fake nails. Fake eyelashes are a no go too and mascara bugs my eyes.

Although it's less accepted for men, I do see the functionality of powders/cover-up. If you've got scars, under eye circles, blemishes etc., these things can make a big difference. If it's done right and especially with mineral powders, you don't even realize someone is wearing it and it doesn't have to be heavy at all. Also, people with oily skin really benefit from powders. It's really more of an added hygiene type thing akin to wearing perfume/cologne rather than an altering of your appearance.

If wearing makeup makes you feel better or more confident, more power to you. The only thing I contend with is the idea that you have to wear it to look polished, professional or "put together." I rarely wear makeup and when I do it's just powder and I've never had a problem with it at work/functions. Television, movies and, well, the makeup industry make it seem like you have to do all these things (eye-liner, mascara, eye shadow, blush, foundation yadda yadda) to make yourself "presentable, and it's not the case. So if you really feel like you need to alter your appearance with heavy makeup to feel confident, that's fine. Plenty of guys out there I'm sure don't mind it or even prefer it and guys that can't stand it then should seek out women that don't like it either.

No one looks better without makeup and if they do they probably never go outside and spend hours squeezing oil and dirt out of their skin pores with tweezers and sticky tape.
Even men look better with makeup, I know I do.

A pastor at my previous church said it quite well regarding this issue:

"If the barn needs painting, paint it!"

I think I can count on my hands the number f times I've worn actual makeup. I do wear lipgloss, but I haven't really usd it lately. I wear deodorant, and use scented shampoo. As far as fake nails, I only do it on special occasions or when I need to look professional. I actually prefer my own natural nails.

I think makeup is silly too. Having a girl hug you, and leave half her face on your shirt is kind of gross. Or when she gets wet, and looks like she's melting. Gah.

Ha ha. Mr. Sharp, your post made me laugh.

But in all seriousness, we can't BAN makeup, right? I mean that's crazy. I don't like football because I think it's lame and boring, but I'm not going to try to get it banned.

I think that makeup is fine, and just like wearing flattering clothing, it makes a woman feel pretty. It's really no different than a guy making his hair look good, or putting on some cologne, or wearing a nice suit. Sometimes a woman has too much makeup, and that's no good. And I do agree that women don't NEED it to be good-looking, but that doesn't mean we should make it illegal. :p

lol! I don't wear makeup, so I don't have that problem. I can hug a guy without leaving 'evidence'.
