It really makes me mad when people say an entire denomination is bad, and everyone in it is bad. And people start supporting that claim.

My church is Vineyard, but we also are starting to lean towards Pentecostal. And what people are claiming ALL Pentecostals do, they don't. My church during worship will shout, but they don't bark or convulse. Yes, some will speak in tongues. But it's not to show off. They don't do it so loud everyone can hear. People should be able to shout and dance with praise without being accused as demonic or heretical.

In Psalms it says make a joyful noise unto the Lord. David danced his praises to God, even when his wife was embarrassed and told him so. He wasn't ashamed. He wasn't afraid to worship God and let everyone know he was. Why is it so different today? Why do people have to sit in their pews quietly? Shouldn't God's love and grace and providing for us make us shout for joy and dance for God? Can't they speak in tongues like they did in Acts?

There may be false teachings floating around, but at the same time, the Holy Spirit is doing a mighty work in places. And sometimes, Satan will make it hard to discern between the two and make them LOOK similar, but they aren't. That's what Satan's good at doing. He makes the lie look pretty darn similar to the truth, and thus we fall for it. That's what happened in the garden. Neither God nor Satan have changed since. But that's why you have to pray and really look at everything before throwing it all away as heretical or demonic.

There ARE gifts of the Spirit. The gifts are not dead. If the gifts were supposed to die with the Apostles, then 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 should never have been written to the Corinthians. I think people forget that a lot of the books of the Bible were letters inspired by God and given to the people.

I now rest my case.

Deep, moving.
:)
Well said, young littleChristone :) You are His warrior girl, speaking out for Him.

my thoughts right now tell me I have to hope and pray our Congress gets its act together for our country's sake, I know we don't know the day or the hour but........

This is trying stuff, and, it looks like all that's being done in the deal is anything but 'grand.' The can gets kicked down the road, regarding the budget, the government working (pray for the workers), and, the healthcare bill. All this all over again, seemingly, after the House and Senate vote tonight.

I'm not being political here, am I ? :) The Lord leads :)
No matter what you believe , believe that God can have our leaders in Washington see His leading so that our country can remain strong and we can remain blessed as a nation, which we are, no matter where you live in the USA, even the worst flood zones or hurricane areas or ??

We have had NO Tsunamis like Thailand and Japan and just live a charmed life in this country in many other ways , like being free to believe whatever denomination we want, even whatever religion we want, or, no religion, even. It's a gift, and, it's a gift from Him :) Thank God early (in the morning) and often every day and whenever during the day you remember to thank Him, for He IS risen from the dead and He is Lord :) How wide is the Love of the Lord for you, and, how deep is it, and, how long, and, pure, and, perfect it is. It is :)

David, a man after God's own heart, rejoiced before the Lord. Michal mocked his style. It didn't turn out well for her, did it?

Our God is not fond of mockery, no matter the reason. If there are those within certain denominations who mock something as holy as the gifts of the Spirit, God WILL deal with them. But if people are truly worshipping in Spirit and in Truth, I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of those who mock them.

It won't let me rep you again so soon, kiddo...but great job :)

Amen, Jullianna. I also get you don't have to be jumping and dancing to be praising Jesus. It can also be quietly with just you and your voice or you and your instrument. :) But it's what's in the HEART that matters most.

Exactly. :) We are led by the Spirit of the Most High God (Who is looking at the heart), not the opinions of men.

There is a season for everything. Quiet reflection and adoration, and a time to pull out a tambourine and rejoice.

On that note....

Theology is interesting to learn, but not to discuss. That...was something I didn't need to spend precious time and energy on.

And what is your season this hour Jullianna? Is this your time for quiet? Or will you sound out?

Today has most definitely been a day to ponder many things and speak a whole lot less than I'd like :)

A quick question I'm unsure as to what denomination I am in, everyone here calls it the happy clappy denomination and I really think that there should be another name? We believe in God, Jesus, Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus is the son of God. We don't do statues, and we love music, but there isn't alot of dancing except in the youth. Any ideas?

Just got back from rehearsal - - Rachmaninoff. Not exactly the kind of music I can just sight-read at the concert, but a nice challenge.

For the music nerds, most of his 2nd symphony is written for horn in E, not F, so I have to transpose everything 1/2 step below the written note....then there are a lot of stopped notes, which is an effect you get by putting your hand all the way into the bell, producing a muffled/brassy quality of sound. This also throws the pitch off by a 1/2 step, but depending on the range of note, I may finger the note 1/2 step higher, or 1/2 step lower - - so I may end up fingering the note as written when playing stopped horn, or one whole step down instead of just a half step...if this far and this makes any sense to you whatsoever, you get an A+ in your music lesson today.

My baby is growing up way too fast! Already 5 weeks old, and she's already telling me everything she can possibly say without me understanding a single word, but loving every minute of it. Her smiles make my day so beautiful. Yes it's days like these, there is no mistaking that there is indeed a God, and he definitely loves me. Oh the little blessing I have the honor of having in my life every day for the rest of my life :)

Stopping is not all that dissimilar to muting, is it not? The standard pitch tendencies for most brass when muted is almost a quarter step sharp. (I have to pull the tuning slide on my trumpet almost a full inch when I demonstrate straight mute playing for my students; three-quarters of an inch for the cup mute.) If the same tendencies hold, couldn't you instead just push in your main tuning slides all the way? That, combined with the muting, should bring you about a whole step higher, and then you can pretend you're reading horn in E-flat.

*laughs* This is ridiculous. I don't know what I'm talking about. Because, I just get a clarinet in A when I need it, and a clarinet in C when I need it. (Although there are probably only 20 people in the US dorky enough to own a C clarinet, and I'm not one of them. But my best friend is!)

Asking myself odd questions this morning.

How could I have been a better husband & could I / should I have saved my marriage?

Do other christians ever contemplate suicide?

Why is it that no matter how much maple syrup I apply to my pancakes, somehow by the last pancake there's none left?
Where does it go?
