But solely in the cross. Most, if not threads on this forum, can be answered in the cross. The problem we are faced is, is where is our faith. What is it placed in?

Christ redeemed us from more than the law. We are redeemed from the sin nature. The sin that we loved and rolled in as a pig to the slop. Christ set us free from that domination. Why, because when we were saved our faith was solely on the cross. Why should that change? what happens to us, We say now we are holy and everything we do is Holy. Wrong!!. Everything we do is sin. Thats why Peter fell into the water after walking on it. Thats why Christians fall. We take our eyes off the cross and put our eyes on what we are doing. That 21 day Daniel fast will bring you closer to God, but it will not take away your sin. Reading and studying the bible will give you a closer glimpse of the Father, but will do nothing for the way you live. It is all about the cross. Rick Warren tells you to do this and that. Now did the son come to only WASH us or did he come to REMOVE us as well? Did He actually come to also TAKE AWAY the sin... Well if the cross cleans me, and I pass through the blood INTO GOD, IN HIM IS NO SIN... where is the sin then? ON THE PTHER SIDE OF THE CROSS, THE BLOOD/.... Looks like when I am washed, I can pass through, into a place where there is no sin... So what happened with the sin that was in me, can I carry it into GOD? Nope look what Jesus did with the sin in me....

1 John 3:5... And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

If we pass through the blood or the cross, we ENTER INTO HIM AND IN HIM IS NO SIN... AND IN ME IS NO SIN HE WAS MANIFESTED TO TAKE IT AWAY....

How far does He take it away.... This FAR... Psalm 103:12... As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Terry the cross is also the SEAL between us and evil.... We are COMPLETELY removed from evil and the wicket ne cannot touch us any longer...

Enough! Where is Christ in your statement? The cross means nothing, absolutely nothing without Jesus Christ. Pray tell, why dost thou not speak of Jesus? My faith is placed in Jesus.

I think we want to forget the cross. But the cross is the entrance into GOD's presence. Always. Those who try to climb up into the sheepfold some other way, are deceived and disobedient.

The cross makes us to remember from where we have fallen (the garden), and to place our eyes on what GOD did to restore us.

“THE PRICK OF THE THORN”


A thorn prick brought forth a drop of blood. Who could have known that this seemingly insignificant act would give birth of a crimson river that would run so deep that its cleansing power would be more than sufficient to save every soul everborn? From first to last, throughout the ages, from this day until the end of time, still, yet, this wasn’t the most miraculous part of this story. The most miraculous part is that from that day until this, and for all the days yet to be, that crimson river has not decreased it’s depth by one single drop.

The resurrection surely deserves joyous proclamation but let us not forget that had it not been for the sacrifice, there would be no salvation. The resurrection was His victory over death, thus proclaiming that we too could have eternal life. Yet, it was the prick of the thorn upon His brow, the wounds He suffered to His hands, His side and His feet, and the death He willingly chose upon Calvary's Cross that paid the price for our sins and allowed us to become worthy to be called the children of God. Were it not for the sacrifice, the resurrection could not have come to pass. Jesus said it Himself: “Greater love hath no man than that He would give his life for His brother.” And that is just what He did!

So, sing joyously of the resurrection and it’s promise of eternal life, but never, never forget the prick of the thorn, for it was on Calvary’s cross where our Lord, the Son of Man, paid the price!

Let me be clear. First, I appreciate your words.
Now then. I do not rely on the cross per se. Salvation is from Jesus. The cross itself has no intrinsic value. I am sure you agree. The words "the cross" when not referring to the actual cross itself, is put for the sacrifice. It is used to indicate the sacrifice of Jesus. I am sure you agree.
I only rely on Jesus. His sacrifice. Unfortunately people take the words "the cross" and use them as if the cross is just as precious and valuable as Jesus. Why not do the same with the nails? Why not call them honorable? What about the crown of thorns? Aren't those honorable? No. How about the whip? Honorable? How about the spit from those who spat upon Jesus, is that spit honorable? How about the hands that slapped Jesus, are those hands honorable? Of course not.

But I am not ashamed of the cross. People think the whole idea of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus is foolish. If Jesus had been speared to death, then it would be "I am not ashamed of the spear." But it was the cross. People thought salvation from a man dying especially on a cross was foolish.

Remember, the cross is simply put for the sacrifice. It represents, symbolizes the plan of God to save us through His Son Jesus Christ.

The OP over emphasizes the emblem, the cross itself. That' my opinion.

What? My eyes just spotted the title "Orthodox Prayer to the Holy Cross." What say you? Where is that in the Bible? The cross is not holy. What say you? I charge thee before God that ye cease and desist from this idolatry.
Prayers to the cross, the holy cross! No. No. No. This is wrong.

Are the nails holy? Is the spit from the mockers holy? Are the hands of the Romans holy? How about the whip? Is it holy. No. Please realize that the cross represents . . . but the cross has no intrinsic value. The prayer you supply worships the cross. I will not bow down to the cross. That's Catholicism. That's idolatry.
