Often in our society, we are 'taught' what a perfect man or perfect woman looks like. I wonder, as single people, do you have a preference in how a potential partner looks? Blonde or brown hair? Tall or short?
I believe that we have these pre-conceived notions on what we want, that we miss what's right in front of us. Can you imagine, when God gave Eve to Adam, Adam turning to God and saying 'Sorry, she's not what I imagined my woman to look like. Try again.'? Or getting out his sketch pad and drawing a picture of his 'perfect' woman? Instead, God created Eve, as Adam's helpmate, and he accepted what God had for him.
What are your thoughts and comments?

I once had a dream of my perfect woman. Whether it was a sign, or just my teenage mind I'll never know I even got the name.

On the Adam and Eve point though, two things to keep in mind is Adam had no other female to compare Eve to, so he couldn't tell what he would prefer. And I like to think of them as being the pinacle of creation before the fall, but that probably only applies to skin without blemish ect. I wouldn't know what the perfect height is ect.

Can't say I have a specific body type I'm only interested in.
I have a couple body types I'm totally not interested in.
Describing those would only alienate or offend some readers, so I'll remain silent on those descriptions.

I once told someone I loved that if they were ever badly burned and stuck in a wheelchair I would never leave them.

I don't really know how I feel about such things now. I certainly would make that promise to someone I don't know.

Generally speaking if a woman can run at least a mile, display good posture, play sports, kiss me without me needing to bend over, and has a moderate amount of facial symmetry, I'm going to have no problems being physically attracted to her.

Yes I do have a body preference type but I feel it is pure lust and not appropriate, I feel it is shallow of me to want someone sole based on their body type. My boyfriends have not been my body preference type at all. In my relationships before I was saved I fell in love with the person and what they looked like didn't matter to me. In fact guys that I have met with my body preference type are not someone I would go out with due to their values and character.

I realise that Adam wasn't given a choice as there was no other women. My question was more to do with whether or not our ideals in what we want in a partner outweigh what God would want for us or even offer us.
I admit that our first impression of a person is by how they look. But is it possible for us to get past the outward appearance, and get to know the person within? Is it possible that God could change our ideals to match His? Which is more important in a long-term relationship: Appearance or personality?

Physical attraction is something God put within us. And like any thought or feeling, it can be abused if not kept in check. So i rather tire of Christians demonizing the idea of physical attraction. Or questioning someones spirituality because they may have some standard of what they prefer.
As far as are we missing out, no. I know i am in the minority when i say this, but i don't believe God has just one person for each of us. I believe there are many people who can be a good choice for us. So, no, i don't believe i may be missing out on anything because i have preferences. And this concept could apply to anything, not just looks. The very concept of having any sort of standard in what you want could, according to the thinking you're putting forth, cause us to miss that person. You want kids? What if the person God has for you doesn't and you're missing out? See, it can be applied to anything. I imagine God knows what we want and need. God is not going to bring someone to us that is not going to be able to provide the things we need to keep a marriage right. If you are not at all attracted to your spouse physically you're not going to want to have a sex life with them, and therefore not live up to the biblical teaching of not denying each other sex to help keep the marriage in tact. So why would God bring you someone that you are unwilling to be with to help protect your marriage? The whole idea just makes no sense, and as i often say, reeks more of spiritual pride more than biblical truth.

as ugly as I am, I am only attracted to women with great curves. Ample bust, butt, slim waist, and thick thighs. This means most asian women just don't do it for me and I am asian.

Slim to average torso, with a bit of muscle. Nothing like a bodybuilder-type, but not withering away either...some muscle is good. Stronger than me is a must lol. Height- doesn't matter really.. just taller than me (I'm 5'4)

If only, if only. Yes, I like men who are average built, and the taller.. the better. While we're on physical attributes, I have always preferred dark hair and dark eyes, but always date people who have blonde hair and blue eyes.

I think I know what I want for Christmas now. :)

I don't normally overthink body type preferences from off the top of my head. I know it when I see it.

I have mixed feelings about the fellas here uncomfortable about stating their body type preferences on a forum where women can see them. On one side it seems like it should not offend anybody because everyone likes something different and they are just stating what THEY like, they are not speaking for the entire male population.

But on the other hand I thought back to the "what makes a person undateable?" thread started here a few months ago, and a certain person stated a certain physical preference that I did not fit as if to imply any woman with this feature is "undateable" and not just his preference, it really stung.... and I'm still self conscious about it to this day.

>_<

(it's all in the way it's worded I think)

a God fearing woman is attractive -- if she is also a green eyed brunette, that's just gravy.

Yes. I've been attracted to guys who aren't ''my type'' though. Taller than me (I'm 5'4...and a half!) and average weight, with some muscle, are my preference.

Apparently most women here want some version of Matthew McConaughey. No pressure guys, no pressure.
