And the greek for spirit is connotative of 'motive', or our english word 'psyche', 'thought pattern'. The greek for soul connotative of 'personality' or 'essence' and the greek for mind connotative of 'intellect'.
John 14:15
You should adopt your master, your God, in all your motive, personality and intellect, this is the first great instruction.
In otherwords, be like Jesus is; take on God's perspective. take on God's 'spirit'.

And the second is like unto it (on equal par with it), have compassion for those around you as though they are you'.
Just like the disciples, who can forgive sins, since they have the spirit of God in them;
John 20:22-23
And when he had said this, he 'insparare' (modern) or 'emphusao' (ancient) inspired them, and said to them, ‘Lay hold of the Holy Spirit (become in tune with God's will)'. If you let go (permit) the sins of any, they are let go; if you retain (take control of) the sins of any, they are retained.
