Recently I have had a member on this site claim if a person has a demon inside them, the Holy Spirit can not be in them. If this is true then it means the Holy Spirit is not omnipresent. What do you believe?

The holy spirit is NOT in everyone otherwise everyone would be saved. Everyone is obviously not saved. The Holy Spirit can NOT share a house with the devil. A christian cannot be demon possessed. The Holy Spirit is not omnipresent then.

Waiting breathlessly for my heretic tag.

Do not twist the situation ... If the Holy Spirit is in a person the DEMON cannot enter.... And if a DEMON is in a person and the Holy Spirit enters the DEMON WILL FLEE LIKE HELL!!!!

Danny get this... the Holy Spirit and the demons DO NOT SHARE THE SAME SPACE... just as light and darkness DO NOT SHARE THE SAME SPACE....

And if the Holy Spirit is in any person that person is PERFECT! The Holy Spirit CAN ONLY BE PERFECT! HE is GOD!

I agree that the Holy Spirit does not indwell everyone however this does not negate His divine attribute of omnipresence. Jonah tried to flee from God's presence to no avail. Even the Psalmist acknowledged God's omnipresence: "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there" (Psalms 139:7 -8). Jeremiah 23:24 says, "Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD". God is infinite and He is not limited by space. God's omnipresence is a Christian doctrine and evident in scripture, pantheism though isn't.

The holy spirit will not go into apostasy...
He will always speak in accordance with the word of God,
so if someone says something against the Bible, you know it is not the holy spirit...
Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

so let there be light!
Speak the word of God only!
and let it be heard

If the holy spirit is not in everyone, how is it able to convict those whom have not yet repented? The scriptures say that the holy spirit was poured out on all flesh, and Christ lived in Paul before he was saved. Also, how can unsaved people learn of the father unless it is through the spirit?

And it will be in the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Galatians 1:15-16

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. John 6:45

Even worse than saying the Holy Spirit is not able to enter a demon possessed person is to imply that a demon possessed person can not be saved. The Holy Spirit draws us into a saving relationship with Jesus but those who claim the Holy Spirit can't enter a demon possessed person. So a demon possessed person can beg all he/she wants to invite God into them and pray the sinners prayer over and over but they are doomed as the Holy Spirit can't enter them. That sounds silly to me. What a small god that would be, being totally impotent in saving the demonically inhabited.

There is not a single scripture which states that the Holy Spirit can't enter a demon possessed person but there are cases where satan has been in the presence of God. In the book of Job we see satan addressing God in His court.

What is the word of God? What Seventh Adventists say? What Jehovah's Witnesses say? What Christian Science says? Why do you think there are so many different denominations?

People might not understand fully what they are reading in the bible (God's word). Even Christians, especially new ones. You cannot dismiss someone as unsaved because they do not see, or understand something the way you do.

To have a spirit of discernment usually takes some growth in life (spiritual life). We can usually discern whether or not someone is saved by a witness in our spirit. If we are not sure, then we must be cautious in our accusation.

Is wickedness demonic? Chapter 5 in 1 Corinthians is about immorality in the church; we must assume these are born again believers. However one member is caught in wickedness and is instructed by Paul, "deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."

Your thoughts.

My thoughts exactly. I know everyone doesn't have Holy Spirit within them, but this is not because He can't be there, rather because He chooses not to, if that makes sense.

Dan one of the two scriptures HAS TO BE WRONG... Both CANNOT be right so which one do you believe?

In Job it says Satan appeared where God's angels gather. In the presence of God and His light. And in 2 Cor 6 God says the light and darkness has no communion, and Christ not with Balial, and righteousness not with unrighteousness, and believers not with unbelievers, and God's temple not with idols, and God says BE SEPERATE,,, So do you think God will be seperate from evil and Satan?

And remember JOB WITHDREW ALL WHAT HE SAID ABOUT GOD... Job 42, I ABHORE MYSELF,,, Job said... And ALL he said he siad what HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND....

How can Satan enter into God's council? HOW? It is impossible.... Darkness CANNOT enter into the light.... CANNOT. Please my friend GET IT NOW.... Darkness CANNOT enter into God's light. Just as SIN CANNOT enter into HIS BODY... CANNOT! If yuo start to understand the light vs darkness, you will see God's HOLINESS overshine darkness 100%. If the Holy Spirit gets to d owith demons, the demons SHATTER AND FEAR AND RUN AND COMMIT SUIECIDE... remember the pigs? They ran over a cliff into the sea, and they ALL died.

God says if we clean a house (a person's body from demons) we should fill the house IMMEDIATELY... With what? The Holy Spirit... or what will happen... the demon we chased out will go through waterless places and gather for him more friends (more demons) and they will move in again and the person will be more posessed than before.... And Dan if you chase out demons be sure you can place the Holy Spirit in that person, or you do worse that what the person was before. I know very few people that can place the Holy Spirit in a person. I hope you can, though I douobt it, as you know so little about these things and what is really God's Truth. Sorry me friend but Truth is Truth. God does NOT MIX WITH BALIAL AND SATAN. NEVER!

The book of Job lists two times satan went before God.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. Job 1:6

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD. Job 2:1
The bible is clear that satan went in among the angels and was literally in the presence of the Lord. This punches a large hole in the theory that the Holy Spirit can not be in the presence of a demon. Even so, many buy into this doctrine of demons.

Doesn't the spirit give life to all ? Not that all are save by this, but what else gives life? But being born of the spirit after excepting Jesus is a different thing. This means being born of God as his offspring. Jesus descended in to hell... He is not afraid of darkness , the light ex spells the darkness, light is greater than darkness, God does not put his light under a bushel but on a lamp stand that all may see. Remember God created the darkness and to be in its presence does not mean he has fellowship with it. I would worry more about something you can do and that being separate from the world. I don't really get what Job has to do with this. God blessed Job and proved his love toward him for being faithful.

I think this is simply saying to hand them over to God for Judgement. King Saul was given a demon and it tormented him. Was this demon given to Saul by God? Maybe.

Cobus, the main problem is people misunderstand the meaning of "light and darkness has no communion". Many falsely assume this means they are mutually exclusive.

Lets look at that verse closely:
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Cor. 6:14 NASB
People use this scripture to "prove" a demon possessed person can not also have the Holy Spirit. However, the context of this verse has nothing to do with Demon possession! It is warning people to not marry unbelievers. Clearly there are Christians who are married to an unbelieving spouse. So this verse NEVER says they can not be in the same place. This is simply how satan has influenced Christian thought to discount the possibility that a demon can not be in a Christian. This does great harm to Christians who need deliverance.

The Holy Spirit is everywhere but not everwhere to save. He saves in and through His Worđ and not where His Word is rejected.

Then maybe you need to make a distinction between what He can't do and what He won't do.

Keep in mind that I have never had a person say "the Holy Spirit does not want to be in a demon possessed person". They say it is impossible for a the Holy Spirit to be in a demon possessed person and this is what I have been discussing.

Omnipresent means present everywhere. If you claim God chooses not to be at a certain place then by definition, He is still no longer omnipresent. I fully believe as most Christians do that Holy Spirit is Omnipresent (present everywhere). However,
some Christians also claim it is impossible for the Holy Spirit to be in the same body. If this is true then God does not dwell where ever a demon does. This would mean by definition God is not omnipresent. So clearly something is wrong as God is omnipresent!

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?Where can I flee from your presence?8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,if I settle on the far side of the sea,10 even there your hand will guide me,your right hand will hold me fast.11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;the night will shine like the day,for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139

The holy spirit will not force himself on you
God is not force
if you want the demon he will leave.
