Hi Red Tent. Do you have the website that is e-sword sounds like a useful tool.
Simply put e-sword in your search engine, then choose the e-sword download. It is free, but only comes with KJV bible, you need to buy other translations. I have been told that there are other free bible study softwares, some with more free translations, but I am not familiar with any others. I bought other translations, so have five more. Love the program.

Also to the question I would concur 1 John is a very useful place to tell whether we are in the faith or not. Also see many of New Testament passages which talk about are we bearing Fruit of the Spirit or if we are not christian ie of the world do we have lusts of the flesh... ie sinful nature...

Gal 5:17-24

17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

So to me this is where people get mixed up with grace as they see the NO Law comment. What I believe it means is actually if you love your neighbour you wouldn't even think to kill him, or steal etc... as you LOVE him. You see it becomes outward looking as opposed to inward looking which is what observing the law actually made people. Look at the Pharasees.

By loving people bearing fruits of the spirit you don't need to observe the law as you will inevitably be doing what it requires anyway. We are dead to ourselves we live for Christ and therefore others. Not ourselves so no man can boast. I mean Paul who was very observant called himself the Worst of Sinners.

God Bless.

Thanks will take a look. Heard many people say the KJV is the best version of the Bible. I currently have a couple of NIV Bibles but would be interested to get a KJV Bible will check out the e-sword.

Can someone acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, and at the same time lives a live conforming to the world? Recently I talked with a friend of mine who said she acknowledged Jesus Christ as Lord of her life years back and so she is saved.
she said she had no doubts that she will go to heaven. But she was someone caught up in things of the world and so I pointed out Mathew 7: 21 which says, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven, she just asked me back who knows what the will of God is?
I was baffled. Isnt necessary to examine our life in the light of the scriptures?. Didnt Jesus tell us to abide in Him? Can a person who says that he /she had an encounter with God and accepted Jesus as saviour continue in a life conforming to the world? Isnt that a big big lie?
Someone who is born again will have the following in their life
1. Belief in the Word of God.
2. Willing to submit to the word of God and follow it.
3. They get convicted when they sin.
4. They make a reasonable attempt to quit habitual sin.
5. They love and study the word of God .
6. They learn the base (teachings) of the truth and begin to mature in Christ
7. They have a new found joy and love.
8. They can begin to forgive those around them.

Just to name a few. I will say though, that a believer can also have the following in their lives.

1. Backslide to a point you forget that your sins have been purged
2. Commit horrific sins/repent upon confrontation/be forgiven/pay the price yet be restored
A) David, Uriah, Bathsheba, death of firstborn/sword in his house all the days of his life
3. Have works of wood, hay and stubble...saved but never really served and or unacceptable/barely acceptable
works.
4. Turn to the world and be cut loose for the destruction of the (FLESH)
5. Turn to the world and burn your inheritance through riotous living and end up with the hogs, yet restored and
identified as a son.

These are just a few thoughts off the top. God bless.

I appreciate your comments. Jesus had a problem with the Pharisees because they observed the law in distortion. He called them on it several times because they brought it up and it is clear that they abused the correct principles found therein. Jesus never once miss-interpreted the original intention of the law. It is up to us to see it in the Spirit of truth.

Romans 7:12-14 (KJV)

[SUP]12 [/SUP]Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

1 Corinthians 15:30-31 (KJV)
[SUP]30 [/SUP]And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
[SUP]31 [/SUP]I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

It is good that God has provided a tool for us to come to Him daily through the High Priest, Jesus Christ, just as sacrifices and offerings were made day in and day out as an everlasting statute. It takes Spiritual eyes to see that. I think you have that. God bless you also.:)

Hi Rose!
To really effectively answer your question in a way which could be edifying to you might take a little bit more info about the REASON why you ask your question here. For instance, if you are asking because you feel a "wrong-ness" about your friend's views and do not wish to follow them for yourself a helpful response to you would be different than if your reason were simply to seek info to guide a sinner back to the true worship of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the first instance, I would certainly say that the posts citing Scripture saying we must attempt to walk in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ to exhibit our faith, and that this is a daily struggle we all must face, are certainly appropriate. Those verses can surely fortify and strengthen you in your daily walk with Christ, and are like meat and potatoes to a Christian.

In the second instance however, simply assuming your friend is not a "good enough" Christian when she feels she is, MIGHT simply be your own lack of true understanding of your friend. Since we all sin Rose73, I would think we should all be very careful indeed before we adjudge others as WORSE sinners than ourselves, and as ones who need US specifically to lead them back to the "correct" worship of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you are seeking to counsel her to be a better Christian, using the Scriptural advice here may not be enough. Perhaps a BETTER starting place would be Matthew 7:3-5...

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Matthew 7:3-5 - “Why do you look at the speck of - Bible Gateway

When I point this up Rose73, please know I do not say it to make you feel badly about worrying for your friend - indeed it can be truly loving to try to help others come to true faith. Instead, I bring it up as a reminder to check your own motives for assuming what she is telling you (she acknoweldges Christ as her Savior, she is saved, and she is firmly at peace in her faith) is somehow wrong or a lie. Afterall, Matthew 7:1-2 starts off...

1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Matthew 7 ESV - Judging Others - “Judge not, that you - Bible Gateway

Since we all sin Rose73, it occurs to me that we all should be extremely, extremely careful about adjudging liars others who say they are Christians already.

I don't think there is any one or several visible evidences that a person is a Christian. Except for loving with God's special Love, everything that a person can do in Christ, a non-Christian can learn and do except in the flesh or with the aid of 'other powers'. I believe that the only real way of knowing one's self or another is a genuine Christian is by the revelation of the Holy Spirit. Our definitions of 'true, real, genuine, authentic' are naturally biased and colored; but the Holy Spirit knows who is who, who will hold true to the end, and who will fall away; therefore, the judgment of who is true or genuine is really and only His.

conforming to the world? isn't that a big lie?

i must ask why you conform to the world and use the internet. did you write this post on a computer? conformity !! or wait did you eat food produced on earth? conformity !!! are you breathing the air ? conformity!

or wait, maybe i'm not aware of what type of conformity your friend is up to that i can be judgmental about it. could it be that we are still of the world even after our experiences with Christianity. we eat we sleep we work we play we do a lot of things.

i would also add that its not really our job to catch other Christians in a lie. im looking at you catholics and protestants! so many act as gatekeepers to Christianity and don't understand who is at the door when you knock. spend more time worrying about your own conformity to the world and how it effects your faith instead of looking at your friend and questioning theirs.

duewell
mark 4 v 11-13
The conformity you speak of as worldly has absolutely nothing to do with the conformity the Apostle speaks of. Context context context.

Nick - reading Rose's post, it says her friend is "caught up in the things of this world" but I'm not sure what that means, or to what degree. We are all caught up in this world to some degree. Do you agree? Rose only says she was "baffled" when her friend asked, "who knows the will of God?" in reference to her own belief of salvation through Christ and the Lord's sovereign will in being the ultimate decider when it comes to those who profess belief in Him. I don't find fault in her response...none of us can say He says "well done good and faithful servant" until He does. That's his line, not ours. We're merely walking in hope of that.

God's light, His image, destroys us the moment we see it, right? Man's eyes cannot gaze upon The Lord or he will perish. We, when our journey is one of daily sanctification and reckoning, experience greater illumination as God's spirit dwells in us more deeply. My only point is that if another believer, perhaps dimmed down quite a bit because of sin, life experiences, incorrect teachings, etc., sometimes we need to adjust our light so as not to destroy them. Maybe it doesn't make sense...I've been on the internet too long already.
I need to disagree here abit...Who knows the will of God? I have an acquaintance who is homosexual and believes in a God of love who would never hurt a human or direct another human to kill as in the old testament and he won't have anything to do with the bible...says it's all about lies and control. He believes what he is is the will of God.

A true Christian does know the will of God for mankind and we are to rebuke and if it has to be separate ourselves from those worldly thinkers. I've heard that same argument many times..who knows the will of God...That question is their excuse to live worldly because they don't understand the Love of God and His Holiness, these people are lost.

We are always moving closer to God, some faster than others. However, there is no point in our life where we can get completely comfortable with all our fleshly actions. Every day I ask for forgiveness and everyday I always have to re-check my actions, thoughts and reactions towards others. It's almost a never ending story! It is when we get to comfortable with our mindset to appoint we do not feel it is necessary to do checks on ourselves regularly, that is when we get to the deep end. Some may say they can swim better than others so they do not need as much direction or help, however the pressure gets worse the deeper you go and eventually you will need just as much help as the others from God.

The wrong answer to the question of this thread can lead people in the wrong direction.

One answer could lead people to believe one doesn't need to have fruit, and growth in righteousness.
Another answer could lead people to trust in their fruit as proof, instead of trusting in Jesus as 100% proof they're saved.

The 100% proof that we are saved rests 100% on Jesus.
If this observation leads you to believe you can/should continue to live in sin, without growth in righteousness, then chances are you are not saved.

I think...:p

That seems to be the best I can come up with right now.

God has His timing. Your friend asked how anyone can know the will of God: through prayer and study of His Holy Bible.

Some of the things God wants us to do is walk with the Holy Spirit and develop the fruits: love, joy, patience, gentleness and self control. He wants us to avoid sinful things like drunkenness, murder, etc.

He also wants us to understand what Grace is and how we don't do things to earn His love and favor but because we have His Holy Spirit and are able to call out Abba, Father. That through Christ sacrifice for the atonement of our sins we are not child of God and can pray and have an Intercessor who will pray for us when we don't have the words.

I've found it is better to just share the things you have learned from God through the Bible. Little nuggets of wisdom, then to try and show others their sins over and over again.

If God moves you to tell them theirs sins and their need to repent, make sure you establish the fact that you love them and want the best for them which is freedom from the sin that enslaves them. Try and show them how following God's ways will give them a happier, more peaceful and godly life. Appeal to their inner heart, the one that wants to please God and who loves God because they understand that He first loved us even when we were sinners. (note: some people say they believe this but in their hearts they still think they are unworthy and don't really have a strong faith that God has truly forgiven them).

anyway, sorry for the long post. hope some of it helped. God bless and keep you and your friend.

My english is not my native language. I will try with God help share my understanding of Father's will.
Father's will, to us - listen son.
Man listen son, woman listen man.
If you don't have husband, your husband is Jesus.
Jesus will: love your closest and don't sin.
Son and Father are the same One. Love like He loves. Without selfish love, only giving, in faith, your love never ends. Faith is Jesus. Jesus is love. So faith is love. If world don't accept your unselfish love, that doesn't meen His love is bad. People is not rejecting you, but they reject Jesus in you. And when you feel bad for people, it's also Him in you. Flesh minds are selfish, spirit minds are His will.
God never changed who He is, and Jesus came not to judge, but save.
Believing in Jesus means, following Him. As woman follows his husband.
Following means, take all who you are and completly trust in Him. In faith, in spirit there are no problems to overtake flesh, yes devil will try, but in front of faith, he flees like darkness from light ^_^

Yes i'm in flesh, but spirit in me tells me, when i'm doing something wrong.
I'm learning to recognize His voice from my own. Attitude of heart change everything.
For me always was hard to love people, - asking self where is that Jesus love, but when i saw poor man, i feel bad for him, i tougth is that me? Or Jesus in me? That moment i should take action, but i just walk away. Why? Where am i running? Oh, yes to my sweet warm home. I'm running away from Jesus.
When i'm afraid to speak someone about Jesus, i'm afraid of my faith. Faith is truth, but i don't tell truth. So i'm lair. I must be different.
Trust to Jesus so much, that even shame can not change your love to Him. I found out, that when you listen voice of spirit it's not hard to do things. But when i listen my own minds. I'm losing faith.
If i got faith, there will be right action, even if it looks oposite.
It's nice that you have these questions, becouse spirit in you is working, teaching you. There are nothing what you will got, if you don't lose. Wanna born is spirit, die in flesh. This world and even "christians" will protect their opinion, religion. But for me one is clear, i'm not that person who i was in flesh. In spirit i love reading bible, in flesh i hate reading. For those who believe even mistakes are for good. If i'm wrong, my judge is Jesus. I trust Him, even if i'm going to hell i trust Him, becouse His judgment is right always. Maybe i'm going to lose everything, why should i care, i got Jesus. And He will save me, becouse He is my hope, my shelter, my mountain, my ship. People should know if your fundament is not Jesus, your life gonna end in hell. That's why it's very important to search at first Father's will in any action, day and night in all my life. You admit/accept truth(Jesus), and truth(Jesus) set you free. Amen. God show us your will. Hallelujah!

[SUP]17[/SUP] For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

I believe there one faith that saved you (from faith ek piste(o)s) and one faith you live your life by (be righteousness) (to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith eis pistin, kath(o)s gegraptai: o de dikaios ek piste(o)s z(e)setai.)

ek has the meaning out from as to source

When God counted Abraham righteouness Gen 15 [SUP]6[/SUP] And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
it was the second time Abraham had faith that was said in the Bible. First time was in Gen 12
[SUP]1[/SUP] Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
[SUP]2[/SUP] And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
[SUP]3[/SUP] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
[SUP]4[/SUP] So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Heb. 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

I believe there christian out that just have faith once and once is all you need to be forgiven
Heb 10:17-18[SUP] 17[/SUP] And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

[SUP]18[/SUP] Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Remember the bema seat of Christ
2 Corinthains 3:12-15

[SUP]12[/SUP] Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
[SUP]13[/SUP] Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
[SUP]14[/SUP] If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
[SUP]15[/SUP] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
2 Corinthians 5:10

[SUP]10[/SUP] For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

As for telling which is a gen. Christians, live your life by faith (the second faith 2 Cor. 5: [SUP]7[/SUP] (For we walk by faith, not by sight:). Faith in God to help you with or not when you need to help a fellow Christian. As for their walk not yours if the don't learn on earth they will learn at the bema seat of Christ

If anyone can do what Jesus has said, without breaking any of His commands, has acknowledge as being Lord. We have rulers on this earth that some of us acknowledge them by obeying their laws, but there are some that doesn't acknowledge them. So if we are willing to be criticize for doing what Jesus wanted, to the point of death, they has acknowledge Him as Lord.

Ephesians 5:1-2, Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. 1Thess, 4:9, Gal 1;4.

It's a big lie! Once you accept Jesus you must walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh Galatians 5:16-24. If you continue with old sinful ways you will not inherit his kingdom but if you follow his commandments and keep from sin especially sexual sin or lust, you will inherit his kingdom. The most valid evidence for a Christian is rejection from friends after giving life to Christ. Your friends will be calling you to do the same old sinful stuff you used to do but since you are a new creature you can't do them anymore so they will look at you like a freak.

Mathew 5:11-12 says, "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and falsely say all kinds of of evil things against you for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven for they persecuted the prophets before you ".
The persecution always starts from within if one reads the history of faith so when your supposedly brothers start calling you names because you try to obey God then you are half way there.

The evidence that I am a genuine christian is that I follow Jesus wherever his word takes me
that is the only evidence there is

1 Cor 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1 Cor 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

do you believe God?
do you believe this?
Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

do you really believe that?
if they teach one false doctrines, God says
if they teach a false doctrine and hold to it
and refuse to change, or argue or hang onto it anyway
there is NO LIGHT AT ALL IN THAT CHURCH
NONE
do you believe that?
if you don't believe that
it is time to get your Bible
read it through
and pray
Lord I believe help my unbelief in every word...
