The Bible Code.
From my understanding of the method used for the code is that
you arrange the Torah, check the equal distance of letters and play the Word Search Game.
I do want to know what's gonna happen to me, or other things in the future and I'm sure you do too.
Maybe I'll be a president of some kind of nation, I certainly hope so.

You are a Christian, what do you think of this?

I think it's bunk. I've read you can do the exact same things with other works of literature.

Is there anything in scripture mandating that we go looking for a Bible code? Frankly parts of the Bible are confusing enough, I can't see God really jerking us around and giving us a hidden Bible code to look through.

There is the sealed book in Daniel that is opened in the end times. Some people think it is the book of life, some people think it is the Bible code.

As far as other pieces, "War & Peace" was used as a control text and while words were able to be found, they were NOT able to be found connecting to other words and phrases like they do in the Torah at all.

I think it's an interesting piece. Whether it is a sealed book left for us to find in the end times, I don't know. The author does have a lot of things he found that are either a very big coincidence or he stumbled onto something.

I think there is something to it, what it is, I don't know. Some of the findings are really convincing. Like the assasination of the Israeli prime minister and September 11. I've heard it can be done with other literature, but I've never seen them come up with results like with the Torah.

I don't believe there is such a thing.
Cuz if that's true, then God was lying? and God doesn't lie so the bible won't make sense anymore.
nah them folks who believe that are just confusing us. looking for something mysterious to catch attention or create a scene blah.

Can you explain why the Bible code being true means God is lying and the Bible isn't true?

well. you can never find a bible verse that proves the bible code to be true, or is there a verse that can prove that?

So, basically, God never said anything about that at all. but if those codes are true and you can't find it the Word of God.
then God didn't say the truth?
And if God didn't say the truth, then it doesn't make sense at all cause He is a God.

There are alot of things God never said anything about, that are true. That's a really bad argument. Show me where gravity is found in the Bible.

oh bum. thats a different story.

we are talking about the bible, and gravity has nothing to do with our sinful nature, salvation and christian life. buh - you can never compare something from layer 1 with whats on layer 3.

anyways, first thing, why did those people ever think about bible codes anyway? what could be the reasons behind that?
did they think whats WRITTEN CLEARLY on the bible was NOT ENOUGH??

I really think you should research it, there are atleast 2 books out there on it that I know of. I really didn't believe it til I researched it, but there is something there, which cannot be explained by chance. I dunno what it is, and I dunno what it's saying to us, or if it can predict the future, but it sure has alot of things in the past in it. But I dunno. Research it anyhow. :)

hmmm yeah :D im on my way to check it out.

anyways, whats the significance? if folks wanna know more about it because its gonna predict the future, doesnt that mean, does that make any difference with palm reading?? and astrology? and things like that... which God told us not to do?
and doesnt that also mean, you're faith is on the code and not on what God clearly said on the bible?

Every word of the original is inspired by God, so it would go to verify the inspiration of the Bible. But I dunno, it's too complex and gives me a headache :)

The significance to me is that some very smart people have found something to them that is mathematically, or statistically, nearly impossible and they have put a lot of their time into understanding what they found. This isn't just 1 guy doing word finds, there is quite a few experts in codes doing research on this now.

I don't think it ties into fortune tellers and the like, at least not in my view. I'm not going to take anything that comes out of the code and make it override something that is in Scripture. I look at it more out of curiosity than as a crystal ball. Other than the assassination, they haven't been able to predict anything from the code. it's always been a hindsight tool.

I don't think any Christians are going to change their faith because of the code, but I could be wrong I guess.

But... what if it IS the sealed book from Daniel? I don't think it is, but I do allow the possibility of it.

Exactly. It's like science that validates scripture.

So, hmm,.
If the Bible code tells us about what is going to happen in the year of 2012, would you take that into account?

Well, they can find comet strike with 2012, but they can also find comet WONT strike 2012, so I don't think there is much to that... If the code is legit, and that is an if, I don't think it could be used for predicting the future.

Now, it depends what you mean by "Bible code".....Is the thing you refer to something the world loves?(something a secular world would advocate?)....God is very clear in the Word that the world is diametrically OPPOSED to God in every way.

"Yea, let God be true, but every man a liar..." Romans 3:4

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2

Scripture cannot be any more clear on this. Numerous other Scriptures speak of the world in direct opposition to God. Use the Word of God as a measure of righteousness to anything that man says.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Timothy 3:16

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." John 5:39

Now, while I do not believe it is wrong to read other books(ie: Christian books, other literature).....One must be very careful to TEST it with Scripture....And let the Holy Spirit ascertain things of righteousness....Because God wrote EVERYTHING that he needed to say in the Word of God....I have PERSONALLY found that straying from the Word too much(ie: placing more concern on other books rather than the Word) can sometimes introduce hidden worldly philosophies into my life.....

So the question "The Bible code?" I do not know the circumstances or ideas behind this, so I leave it with you and the Holy Spirit to discern.....God bless!!=)

I am curious about the bible code also and whether the things that are being discovered are just coincidence. I look at this twofold. Those that believe in it have really done some research and hard work, there is even one gentleman that believes he has found the resting place of the arc of the covenenant from decifering the code he was looking at and is planning a recovery mission based on his findings. While i believe these peoples intentions are with the best of interest, what could we say if a radical person or group were to obtain information from this code that told them to carry out some kind of horrific mission against humanity and acted on it as the gentleman who is looking for the arc is? I am not saying this is the case but merely giving some food for thought.
