Last few weeks ago, when I was reading my bible i heard a small voice calling my name. It was a whisper that I can't barely hear. Of course at first, I freaked out because I honestly don't know what to do. I started to pray but the voice keep calling my name as I said I really don't know what to do so I just ran to my mom who was sleeping at that time lol :D. I woke her up to find out that she had a high blood pressure she asked me to get her medicine after that the voice stop calling me. A Week later, I heard this small voice again and once again I ran to my mom and pray and fell asleep. What I notice is that I hear it when I'm reading my bible. Number one, I don't know if the voice was really came from God. Two, if it was from God why I felt afraid because based on what i heard and read about the stories of the people who heard the audible voice, it is comforting and gentle.
1 John 4:1 says "do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God"...... All insights and advice are highly appreciated.. Thank you !! God bless :)

If it is from God, do what the prophet Samuel did when he was a child. Say, "Speak Lord for Your servant is listening". If you want to find this exact reference, it's 1 Samuel 3:1-10 when Samuel experienced the similar situation.

Of course test it, but if it's comforting and gentle and while you read the Word. Just see if it from the Lord.

I used to have visions that were not from God while praying. Try this: next time the voice speaks, ask it to identify itself or basically answer it and see what it says next. Write down what it says (or at least the gist if it talks too fast). I believe that you can take its reaction to your asking it to speak (and especially what it says) and find out for sure if the voice is from God or not. In the Bible, God called to Samuel over and over, and Samuel only came to know that it was God Himself after he asked the voice to speak: when the voice spoke, then Samuel knew it was God. You will know too by what the voice says (after you ask it to speak) whether it is God or not. Of course, you can take what it says that you write down or remember and come back and ask here what people think.

Hey, you and I were responding at the very same time. Take that as confirmation on the way to test the voice. How come you don't have a like button? I was going to like your comment.

I think Alin has it better, ask who is it first. I should have said that lol. The first time I heard the Lord similar to audible was when a loud booming feeling inside interrupted me while I was worshiping the Lord. Not sure if I was praying or listening to worship music. It is really hard to explain except for the feeling intermixed with words indescribable. Yeah I sound nuts anyways lol

Ask it to say something more than your name. Respond something like this: "Yes, I'm here. Can you let me know who you are?" The reaction from there will be pretty clear whether the voice is from God or not. Let me tell you one time I heard God's voice almost audibly in '98 (it was audible but inside me and not outside in the room): I was praying and seeking God to hear and know His voice, and one day I was watching Christian TV and lying on a chaise. Right when I was falling asleep, the man on TV was prophesying and said, "... and you will know My voice..." Right when he said that, God said along with him, "You will know My voice." He did it that way to distinguish His voice from the man's voice. (I sat straight up on the chaise, startled. Since that time, I've come to know and distinguish His voice from other voices much better than before.) God wants to distinguish His voice from the voice of others; if you ask the voice to identify itself, you will probably know from there if it's God or not. But you have to ask it to identify itself.

That's a really good question: what if the voice isn't God? I don't have an answer for that one! All I can say now is that if it isn't God, then keep asking questions here and in your church if you have one. If it isn't God, it is something else that doesn't need to be around.

what if it's not came from God what would I do? I forgot! the second time I heard the voice, I tune up the music that is playing but I still hear the voice. And guess what what the song was, It's voice of truth by casting crowns.. Is that a sign?

Yes, God's voice was inside of me too. It was booming and deep, woke me right up. A feeling of electricity went from the top of my head to my feet. His voice sounded like three voices, but I knew it was primarily the Father speaking at that time; His voice sounded soft and loud at the very same time. It was unnerving (the supernatural aspect of the voice along with the electricity that seemed to run through me) but really peaceful. He seemed to speak out of a storm-- like crashing waves and thunder and just a storm. His voice sounds like a storm, like thunder. It was just amazing though a little scary.

Ask it to tell you who it is and what it wants to say to you. If it's not God, then tell the Christians in your family and your pastor and church friends (if you go to church) about it. Someone should be able to give you some guidance on what to do about it.

Had a that kind of feeling a few years back when He spoke, but it's just like what you described. Awesome feeling. It just seemed like I knew it was Him, but I prayed if it was Him. I did write down what I heard. Just strange how you can be swept off your feet in such a way, God is good

: )

God bless you too, and I hope that as you do what your pastor said, the voice will leave you alone. If it doesn't leave, feel free to share with people here or with someone there so you don't have to deal with it alone.

God bless you too, may your walk with God deepen in all truth and love. Thanks for asking, not a lot of people share things like this out of fear of being judged and such. : )
