It is GOOD to hear truth. I ache when I read posters who do not understand God at all and preach their misunderstanding. We are alive in Christ, glory hallelujah! We cannot save ourselves with the law, but through Christ we are saved.
I love the law, even if it is not for my salvation. God does not give the law to those who do not know Him. But it is given to me to lead me. I love to read Christ's explanation of the law His Father gave. I love how much better my life is as I work to obey it.

We follow Christ and Christ says for us to keep the law as in the texts you have showed. So we keep the law not because we follow the law but, because Christ says to keep the law.
BTW what is 1 Yahchanan?

I agree that in Christ we are dead to the law, in Christ we are dead to sin. Being dead to the law does not mean we do not keep the law because if we surrender to Christ we become servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:16
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
If we are servants of righteousness by surrender to Christ then we will keep the law because we are His servants. What we need to do is die daily. It also means that those not in Christ are not dead to the law, they come under the condemnation of the law.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Here are some Instructions from the man called the truth!
Mattithyah 5:19, "Whosoever, therefore, will break one of the least of these Laws, and will teach men so, he will be called the least in the Kingdom of Yahweh; but whosoever will do and teach them, the same will be called great in the Kingdom of Yahweh."
First, the law is not for anyone who is not under grace, who does not know Christ and the forgiveness Christ offers. God is the only one who can give forgiveness, we can't do that for ourselves no matter how hard we work. Those without God often try to follow law because it leads to a good life and they know it. Governments have based some of their constitutions on parts of it. It works, but it does not work for salvation.
The purpose of the law is to guide us into ways for God's family to be led into what, in the Hebrew language is called shalom. If you look at the happiness and joy in the eyes of those who do their best to live within how God guides us to live and compare it to the people who live outside of God's law, you will see what I mean.
The law also is to point out what is sin, and God cannot live with sin. Sin keeps God away from us, it is a barrier. So we must turn from sin to live with Christ in our hearts.
Psalm 119 is a long beautiful explanation of the beauty and reasons for God's law.
If we seek to be justified by observance of the law then we have no hope of salvation. James wrote: "For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it." James 2:10
The law of God can not save anyone, we are saved by the grace of God. This does not mean we can willfully disobey the law and expect God to save us. I believe most on these threads understand this. The disagreements come down to which laws do we obey and how do we obey them.
Everyone has their own traditions, doctrine or dogmas on which laws are to be obeyed and how we are to obey them.
The plain truth is Jesus gave us liberty in this and so there exists this room for disagreement. But we are all free in Christ to follow him as are soul leads us (but the hand of the Holy Spirit). Some eat meat , some do not, some observe a sunday sabbath, some do not, some observe "holy days", some do not. Some get married , some do not. Some wash their left hand before the right one, some do not wash either ..... LIBERTY what a concept.

I agree with your idea of liberty. But if you look at the ways of God, you will see that also the road is narrow and few there are that stay within that road. In our world today, most people are missing it with the idea that they are following the Holy Spirit within when in fact, they are following their own perception of the Holy Spirit, not the real Holy Spirit. The current fashion is not to check ourselves with what God says is sin. They call it law and say we are not to follow the law.
Look how exact God is in how our world operates. You can track the stars. The tides of the ocean are kept to an exact schedule. We are told not to add or take away any of scripture, to listen strictly to what it says without deciding for ourselves what it says.
The basic of what God teaches is love of God and from that acceptance and love for all those of God. God gave every instruction to us, from genesis to revelation because God loves us, and His instructions lead to what is good for us.
We are to listen with exactness and precision so we keep everything within those guidelines.
The commandments are the alliance covenant with Adam and eve with God and us written in stone

There are those here who will tell you this does away with the Law. What it really says is that ALL of the Law is hanging on these two overall Commandments. Not just some of the Law, not just a point or two, but ALL of the Law.
Please point out some scripture to me where Christ says "You decide which Laws you wish to obey and which ones you don't."
This is what our first parents did when thye took of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. How'd that work out?

How does a person grow these fruits in their life? Do they try real hard and out of their own will create these fruits? Do they turn to the law to obey it perfectly to grow these fruit?
No. Of course not. The Only way these fruits are grown is if a person turns from their own will and strength and turns toward the Lord Jesus Christ and has faith that He will grow this fruit in their lives.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Paul doesn't tell you to disobey the law. Paul tells you that the laws purpose is to bring you to Christ so Christ can do in you what the law never could.

I can't find anything written in the NT scriptures that even hints that we are alive or that we live unto the law. It would be worthy of consideration if it could be found. The life that we live in our flesh, we live by the faith of the Son of God. He is the faith and our faith that came, that was given to them who believe, that we might be justified by faith and no longer be under the schoolmaster of the law. To be dead to the law means that we have the faith of Christ, being alive into God and we are no longer under the obligation and duty of the law. The law brought us to Christ but could not remove sin or provide us with the righteousness of God. Only faith in Christ and his work on the cross could do those two things and when it was finished we could have it all by faith without being under the obligation of the law.
