I also find it appalling that so many of you label the CoC as ungodly. You stereotype and generalize a large group of people because a smaller group gives it a bad name. I am personally offended by many of you.
The church of Christ speaks where the bible speaks and is silent where the bible is silent. There isn't enough evidence about instrumental worship for many believers to worship with instruments. That is why many church doesnt have instruments. There is also no evidence that one will rot in hell for worshipping with instruments which is proof the OP is completely out of line.
If you don't like the CoC that is your choice, but to those that outright insult a congregation without actually understanding its believes makes you just as repulsive as the OP.

Crazy isn't it....The Church that Bill Clinton went to in Little Rock Arkansas spent almost 32 million dollars to buy property and build building......there is no way God can be pleased with that...I will never believe it until Jesus tells me himself I was wrong in my assessment....and on I-30 the Pentecostal church spent over 20 million to build their building and then turned around and built an even bigger building next door.........

I do not know what people think. We meet at my brother in laws house for church once a week. Have cell groups once a week. ( I leed a mens cell at my house) And other things (not including my leadership meetings.)
We have between 500 and 600 of these churches. And we all get together in 4 different building (one main campus, A restored cornerstore, and old High School restored And I have not seen the east side spheres building) ) on Sunday for our weekly instruction from the main church elders..
I have seen God work more in this church than in any traditional church I ever attended. and I have been going to church for 43 years. and only been going here for 7.

Everybody that I have dealt with that is CoC has rejected the word of God on numerous levels....they have all said that if you are not CoC you will go to hell, they have all said that if you don't have CoC baptism you will go to hell, they have all said that if you use instruments that you will go to hell etc. and I can only judge what I have dealt with in my life....
If you don't believe the above and if the church you attend doesn't teach that you can loose your salvation and or not be saved if you are not Church of Christ then I apologize to you personally....everything else I said stands in light of my own personal experiences that I have had with EVERY CoC members that I have come across in the last 25 years...
I would like to see a doctrinal statement from your church if you can get one....not being mouthy!

There are (like in the baptist) many types of CoC's. I have met some that do not hold what you have been told..

There is a huge cult I ran into about 20 years ago. They were the boston sect. called the boston church of christ. I know they have grown and come under differing names.
They claim they are the only church, and the things you have heard. They would even claim all other CoC's are hellbound.. Maybe this is who you ran into.
Yeah I don't know as I have dealt with them in Arkansas, Missouri and in Illinois so it is possible....You know there is a flip side to the coin....If she doesn't believe what I was hammering and if her church doesn't teach what I was hammering then there was no reason to be offended as I don't get offended when people rake me over the coals about stuff that I know isn't true!

I know. She gets alot of stuff in here. I have known her for a few years now. I can see sometimes why she gets so upset. Especially when the OP (most likely a member of that cult which is everywhere now) gave her church a bad name.
I am at the point, Unless it is a catholic or orthodox, When I KNOW what they believe, I don;t judge anyone by denomination or a denomination anymore. I have found there are so many differeing types within all denominations (some good, some bad) that I get sick of sticking my foot in my mouth, and doing what others do to me (type/match) where their can be no discussion. Because we "know" what they believe. which alot of the times, is not true at all

They originated out of Boston in the USA. They were called Boston church of Christ for a season and then changed their name to International Church of Christ.
Alexander Campbell, the founder of the movement was a disaffected Southern Baptist, and his father of Presbyterian background. The movement started in the 1830's, primarily in Kentucky.
They believed you are saved by immersion baptism, they oppose creeds, including faith statements and believe they are the New Testament Church revived, and they alone have the gospel, as the OP stated.**
We had three people in my last church who were from the CoC. They were generally slightly embarrassed about some of the practices, but still held to some of the doctrines, such as saving baptism.
While I do believe that these people were genuine Christians, and they seemed to think our Southern Baptist church had genuine believers, in my opinion, it is a movement founded and maintained as a cult. So yes, I think they are saved. No, it is not the only true church and has some very sketchy ideas.

If a person is in Christ, that person is saved.
Also, the Church is not some building.
The Church is a living organism of Born again believers.

Yeah I know...after reading what I wrote which was directed at the OP and what I said above, I don't feel so bad....The truth sometimes offends...and the OP had it coming as to come in here and tell us all that we will cook in hell if we do not follow CoC doctrine is contrary and like I said, every one that I have dealt with will say the things that I listed in post 51.....instead of being offended she should have explained herself and that she doesn't believe that and or her church doesn't teach that.....Having said that....in order to be a CoC don't you have to subscribe to CoC doctrine and if not then it would not be a CoC per-say!
