In revelation it says revelation 14:11 and their smoke of torment ascendeth up for ever and ever. And have no rest night or day,who worship the beast...can one of you explain this to me? Sounds like burning in hell for eternity ...

Why do you want false teachers to help you interpret God's Word?

It is hell.
But Jehovahs Witnesses are a cult group and not accepted as Christian, so don't expect to find many of those cult followers on this site, if any.

There are some. Isn't it enough that they come to our homes? :p

Well, what does "forever and ever" mean to you?

sometimes a simple interpretation of Scripture is most accurate. =)

Regardless of their doctrine what really gets to me about JWs is when they knock on your door and politely tell them, our home is a Christian we already attend a church that we are happy with. Its like I just spoke to a brick wall, falling on deaf ears, a nervous twitch and a momentary blank stare they continue on with their magazine. I don't get it.

This all bewilders me. I have a good friend who is a Jehovah's Witness. I also have a neighbor who is Jehovah's Witness. My neighbor told me that Jesus was not God, and quoted John 14:28 You have heard Me tell you, 'I am going away and I am coming to you.' If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I.

When I explained Christ now sat on the right hand of God after his crucifixion She said "I go by scripture, turned on her heel and marched out of my house and hasn't been back.

My other Jehovah Witness friend and I had a delightful four hour discussion about scripture. We agreed on many points, he was well versed in scripture and spoke of scripture, not what someone's viewpoint was of scripture. If we disagreed, we worked it out together, sometimes each sure we were right, but we each enjoyed the searching for truth.

I can't think of anyone in my own church who could enjoy a whole afternoon exploring what God tells us in scripture.

I wonder how God views us as we see darkly, and don't understand some things of scripture correctly? I am sure that we all do it at some point. At the same time, we are warned and warned of people being false in their teaching.

I'm not a Jehovah's Witness however I do somewhat agree(like the Jews) that we don't burn in hell for eternity ...we perish for eternity.. The first death is would be thrown into fire and the second death would be our soul..but when I came across that verse it has me a little confused..I know Christians Beleive we burn for eternity ...

Their version of the Old and New Testament, edited to say different things to the original languages. Also, any Tom, Dick or Harry can read the Old and New Testament. Being able to read the Bible doesn't qualify one to be called a Christian.

I've always been more prone to Mormons visiting. Equally as bad though.
Hmm... We have far less Mormons than Jehovah's Witnesses in Australia. That's probably why.

Yes, they're different. Jehovah's Witnesses are closer to God's Truth than Mormons, but they still don't believe the same as do Christians.

Their version of the bible has very subtle differences. That's been made to conform to their doctrine. I pulled them up on it once during a conversation.

A glaring error and mistranslation is in John 1: 'The Word was God' is changed to '...was a god', with no justification whatsoever.

That was done on purpose.

Breno, what did they say to you?

Of course. It was to promote their errors, rather than to further a knowledge of sound editions of Bible.

It just goes to show how important Biblical doctrine is.

Blessings.

That was the exact scripture I was talking about.

Well we were discussing Jesus' deity and they went to that John 1 scripture, she had her bible, I had mine. She read it, I read a long with her and then I said, 'hold on yours say 'a God' mine says 'God'. We bounced back and forth telling her her translation was wrong then she proceeded to other scriptures at that point I ended our meeting and they left and never came back.

Hmm... Thanks. That sounds about right. They're not even willing to consider something other than what they've been brainwashed into believing.
