I absolutely ♥ stanza two.

"My Jesus, I Love Thee"
Words by: William R. Featherston

1. My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

2. I love Thee because Thou has first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree.
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

3. I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

4. In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in his excellent Word!
What more can he say than to you he hath said,
To you who for refuge (Nu 35:11; Jos 20:2-3; Php 3:9) to Jesus have fled?

"Fear not, I am with thee; O be not dismayed,
For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cuase thee to stand,
Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.

"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
Tthe flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.

"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no, never, no, never forsake!"

Great hymn! I've often sung it.

Blessings.

My favorite hymnal is the battle hymn of the republic.

Mine eyes have seen the glory
Of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage
Where the grapes of wrath are stored
He has loosed the fateful lightening
Of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Our God is marching on

I have seen him in the watch-fires
Of a hundred circling camps
They have builded him an altar
In the evening dews and damps
I can read his righteous sentence
By the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Our God is marching on

He has sounded forth the trumpet
That shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men
Before His judgment-seat
Oh, be swift, my soul to answer him
be jubilant, my feet

Our God is marching on

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Our God is marching on

In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea
With a glory in his bosom
That transfigures you and me
As he died to make men holy
Let us live to make men free
While God is marching on

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Our God is marching on

I love this:

GOLDEN CITY- CITY OF GOLD

Soon your trials will be over,
Offered up by mercy's hand;
Let Him heal you where you're standing,
A doorway to another land

The sweetest welcome from the Father,
Gathered up and carried home,
We have come to this time of waiting,
Come let us bow before Your throne

Chorus:

We will meet in the golden city, in the new Jerusalem

All our pain and all our tears will be no more.

We will stand with the hosts of heaven and cry, "Holy is the Lamb",

We will worship and adore You ever more

HOLY HOLY HOLY is the Lamb

Never can the powers of darkness,
Neither death nor even life
Let nothing ever separate us,
From the holy love of God

Ms. as-i-am: Thanks; and funnily enough I don't seem to know this one. At first I thought you were quoting one of tow other hymns about Jerusalem. I love the passage in Hebrews, which says: 'We are come unto mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and...to Jesus, the Mediator of the new covenant' (Hebrews 22.22).

Blessings.

Thanking God from God's viewpoint nothing ever can separate us from his love Nothing
And God is not a liar ever, has stood through to his promise to Abraham all the way, has not stopped coming through all the way, that promise stands to Abraham forever and is shown completed through Son Jesus Christ in the order of Melchizedek

Having grown up in the church, the hymns of "way back then" are my favourite. I love "O Worship the King"

O worship the King, all glorious above,
and gratefully sing God's power and God's love;
our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

O tell of God's might, O sing of God's grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space,
whose chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is God's path on the wings of the storm.

Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.

Good to be reminded of the all-sufficiency of the work of Christ.

I used to be afraid of dark as child and my mom always told me to sing song about power of Jesus blood, don't know if its hymn, but I like it cause it amazingly helped me ....

Would you be free from the burden of sin?

There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;

Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain:
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
R.
Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
R.
Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Jones, 1899
