I think that if we would only stop to consider the lyrics of a lot of the songs that are bombarded over the airwaves, we would be surprised.
Interesting note, the girl in the song turned him down and kept her chastity. If they would have listened to the entire song—instead of focusing on part of it without context—it could have actually been spun into an anti-peer pressure message.
perhaps i'm not pious enough, but i just don't understand how some people flip out over songs. granted, i don't want to pour negative stuff in my head, but art isn't just something that we should expect to always behave.

if you don't like the message, don't look or listen.

it's like the idiots burning books because they don't want anyone to get any ideas.

i've admired beautiful paintings created by nazi artists, read the provocative words of people whom i genuinely fear (for society's sake), and sang along to songs that discussed things i don't approve of.

art isn't about making everyone feel better. it's an expression of thought. it can elevate the spirit like nothing else. it can turn my heart toward God, out of gratitude, fear, love, or even anger.

i have literally dozens of journals. if you read one page, you might think i'm an angry person. another page might make me sound like i'm chemically-enhanced-happy, and yet another page reveals me as a woman who deeply loves God.

art is just a moment, or a "page" in someone's life.

The only things that will make me be against certain songs is if they use rape-talk (Blurred Lines, etc.) or other inappropriate themes that I think my son is better off not listening to. But before I switch the stations, we talk about why it is disrespectful or otherwise not age-appropriate. I don't want him to just have hear that something is bad; I want to use it to teach a life lesson.

that's an excellent example of what i love about art in general.

it generates conversation, creates opportunities for exploration and discussion. it forces us to articulate what we think about it.

but make no mistake, just because it's art doesn't mean it's worthy of something we should have a steady diet of.

and kids (with unfinished brains) always need monitoring, guidance, and even protection.

and you're a great, protective mom, mistybear. : )

p.s. i hope you're having a better day.

Awe, thanks!

Yes, today is better. I got GOOD sushi for lunch (technically a sashimi bento box) and a more relaxing day.

Talking about pretzels:
I liked the former (german) pope better...

Note:
I'm only mocking the CATHOLIC [false] eucharist here.
Dude, really? ok....Mark - my brother in Christ Mark - I actually saw this the other day and was going to respond but waited and waned like the moon. The wait has reminded me that I love our Pope and I love his position because of its devotion to our God of Israel. The wane has provided patience.

There's a danger, I think, in division of faith. Mockery is a kind of innocuous tool to engage a sense of social entitlement within this union of Christianity, but not so innocent in its effect.

When someone you love dies, and you’re not expecting it, you don’t lose them all at once -you lose them in pieces over a long time.

Gradually, you accumulate the parts of them that are gone. Just when the day comes, when there’s a particular missing part that overwhelms you with the feeling that they’re gone, maybe forever - there comes another day, and another specifically missing part.

This is the second earthquake California gets in two weeks, and I didn't feel it - again. I think I'm earthquake proof.
