a couple memorable dates:
+ we spent a couple hours at an arcade laughing and goofing like a couple teenagers. it was SO fun. i would've never expected it to be so fun, but yeah, that was a very fun time. i laughed so hard my stomach hurt. i love dates like that.
we walked a couple blocks to a restaurant around the corner and some car came around from his side while we were starting to cross the street and he very quickly and instinctively put his arm up so that i wouldn't walk any further. it was very much an honest, yet adorable thing.
and i vaguely remember ordering some burger for dinner and barely finishing half. after i stopped eating, he eyed it a few times. i asked, "do you want it?" and without answering, he polished it off in like, three bites.
the whole night was fun, odd and different than most of the dates i've been on. in the very best of ways. that was my first date with a guy i dated for a few months several years ago.
+ however, one of more memorable first dates i had was when i was in college. i knew this guy liked me, but he would never ever ask me out. it was odd, but, whatever.
so his roommate conveniently invited us both on a double date with his girlfriend. we ended up going to hike together. after a bit of a hike the other couple left, (there was a polite excuse, but i figured it was all a ruse anyway). we had brought a picnic lunch and were starting to eat when i saw him getting up.
i asked him what was up, and he said, "oh, i've been stung by a bee".
"oh, i'm sorry to hear that. are you ok?" "sure", he says.
all of a sudden i see him start to turn a bit white and he is acting weird. i asked him again, "are you really ok?" and he insisted he was.
another couple minutes, and i said, "what's up?".
"well, i'm allergic to bees."
"do you have one of those epi pens?"
"at home"
"oh, shouldn't i be taking you to the hospital?"
"uh, probably. yeah, i mean, if that's ok with you. or you could just drop me off at the ER. if it's not too much trouble."
i spent the next 2 and a half hours in the hospital waiting for him. he must've apologized to me 100 times.
and then he seemed to disappear into thin air after that date. i very seldom saw him on campus again after that.
it was kind of weird, but i know he was embarrassed. the sad thing is, i had a pretty good time with him, in spite of things. dumb boys.
