Have we all thrown the cross aside, do we no longer need the work of the cross. Shall we speak Hebrew and hold the feast as our salvation. Should get wet to be saved? does anybody still hold true to the cross or are we so caught up in our own works that we disregard the cross and no longer have need of it. I am just bewildered at the boastfulness of self righteousness.

We are nothing with out the cross and the work thereon. No matter how smart we are, no matter how religious we are. I am nothing with out Christ He is everything to me. I am thankful for what I have and would have nothing without Christ. He is my rock, my strong and mighty tower, my fortress, my deliverer and the solid rock on witch I stand.

Is there any faith or at least respect left in the body of Christ for the work of the cross.

Let's sing it:
And the old rugged cross makes the difference,
In a life filled with sorrow and defeat;
I will praise Him forever and ever,
for the cross makes the difference for me . . ."

"And I believe in a hill called Mt Calvary;
I believe whatever the cost;
And when time has surrendered,
And earth is no more,
I'll still cling to the old rugged cross."

Isn't that by the Gathers? maybe 2 songs

Thank you for the cross, Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love, Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know
Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious

High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb

The cross (with the resurrection) is the most important event of all history.
There our precious Savior poured out His blood to ransom our souls.
There He nailed our Old Man to the beams.
There He cried, "It is finished."

"Worthy is the Lamb"

I feel like singing it from the Messiah.

In Christ alone, my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song

This cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My comforter, my all-in-all

Here in the love of Christ I stand

There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory

Sin's curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death

This is the power of Christ in me

From life's first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand

Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

1. And can it be that I should gain an interest in the Savior's blood!

Died he for me? who caused his pain!

For me? who him to death pursued?

Amazing love! How can it be

that thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

Amazing love! How can it be

that thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

2. 'Tis mystery all: th' Immortal dies!

Who can explore his strange design?

In vain the firstborn seraph tries

to sound the depths of love divine.

'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;

let angel minds inquire no more.

'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;

let angel minds inquire no more.

3. He left his Father's throne above

(so free, so infinite his grace!),

emptied himself of all but love,

and bled for Adam's helpless race.

'Tis mercy all, immense and free,

for O my God, it found out me!

'Tis mercy all, immense and free,

for O my God, it found out me!

4. Long my imprisoned spirit lay,

fast bound in sin and nature's night;

thine eye diffused a quickening ray;

I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;

my chains fell off, my heart was free,

I rose, went forth, and followed thee.

My chains fell off, my heart was free,

I rose, went forth, and followed thee.

5. No condemnation now I dread;

Jesus, and all in him, is mine;

alive in him, my living Head,

and clothed in righteousness divine,

bold I approach th' eternal throne,

and claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Bold I approach th' eternal throne,

and claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Poem it sing it praise God for the cross

At the cross at the cross where I first saw the light and the burdens of my heart rolled away. It was there by grace I received my sight and now I am happy all the day.

Them old hymns get me going.

1 Corinthians:17 "For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel....23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,"

One of the devil's number one goals is to get people to take their eyes off the cross.

Lord, thank you for the cross!

I love threads like these \o/!

Here's another good one:

"You Are My King"
I'm forgiven because you were forsaken
I'm accepted, You were condemned
I'm alive and well
Your spirit is within me
Because you died and rose again

I'm forgiven because you were forsaken
I'm accepted, you were condemned
I'm alive and well
Your spirit is within me
Because you died and rose again

Amazing love, how can it be?
That you, my king. would die for me
Amazing love, I know it's true
Its my joy to honor you
Amazing love how can it be?
That my king would die for me

Amazing love I know it's true
Its my joy to honor you
In all I do
I honor you

I'm forgiven because you were forsaken
I'm accepted, you were condemned
I'm alive and well
Your spirit is within me
Because you died and rose again

Amazing love how can it be
That you, my king would die for me
Amazing love, I know its true
It's my joy to honor you

Amazing love how can it be?
That you, my king, would die for me
Amazing love, I know its true
Its my joy to honor you
In all I do I honor you

You are my king
You are my king
Jesus, You are my king
Jesus, You are my king

Amazing love, how can it be?
That you, my king, would die for me
Amazing love, I know it's true
Its my joy to honor you

Amazing love, how can it be?

Amazing love I know it's true

In all I do I honor you
In all I do honor you

Thank you for this thread, because it prompted me to sing and worship God.

It let me focus on the glorious and all sufficiency of the Cross of Jesus Christ, rather than get bogged down by contentious arguements that drain me down.

Thank you for the Cross, Lord! Thank you for the nail-pierced hands! Worthy is the Lamb!

BACK TO THE CROSS

I'm out on the sea filled with sorrows
Tossed like a ship who ran ashore
I'm seeking the help of my saviour
By the way of the cross I must go

Back to the cross and to Jesus
Back to the cross I am called
I've drifted too far and I've wandered
From the saviour that once was my home

The sins of this world have overcome me
Have pushed and left me to roam
So I'm going to back to my saviour
Back to the cross and home

The joy of these life are too fleeting
And wrapped in troubles around
I've lost the church of the stranger
I've drifted too far from home

I was pondering this very thing last night. I get so caught up in the cares of this world that I forget. The Holy Spirit brought to mind Luke 6:32 "if you love those that love you, what credit is that to you, even sinners love those who love them!"
not only is the cross the place we go to receive him but it's the ultimate example of love. Without it we are lost. Thank you lord Jesus for the cross.

Are you angry at the stance which encourages us to perform good works in order to be saved?
