So now we start down the slippery slope.

I'm a business owner that operates a store through Amazon. Say, from an illegally recorded and disseminated recording, Amazon found out that I believe homosexuality is a sin. Well, they might be offended by this and decide that they don't want me in their Marketplace. So they ban me. Now my business is greatly impaired, and I'm left limping along on my own.

Hmmmm.... Doesn't seem too far away considering what just happened to Sterling.

Any other thoughts?

And this is NOT to say that I don't think Sterling's remarks are repugnant -- they are -- but that's another issue entirely.
sorry, i couldn't resist since i just read how you scolded the girl about working in a casino and you made it the same as working for abortionists! guilt by association much?

i heard amazon supports planned parenthood:)

that guy is a total bigot. i watched the news and some videos and read up some. he has a history of it. i figure people are entitled to their own views about just about anything. i don't have to hang out with them. but when you're the guy who basically owns the players, well, it's up to the players to decide. and the fans who go to the games. i think the guy is a jerk.

While I understand why there has been such an uproar as his remarks were degrading to his players and all blacks the same, I think there also must be drawn a line here with free speech. I am in no way condoning his actions but look, Our country seems to worship Free will (free speech, Free religion, Unity of the races etc...) until of course it offends somebody. If were going to have free speech how far does it go? I believe that there definitely needs to be equality and love between the races but I do not believe that ones beliefs, No matter how over-the-top they are, no matter how unattractive they are, should result in being banned from something they've devoted there lives too. Perhaps lovingly pointed the right way. but what does banning him do but simply give him more bitterness to hold against blacks? I do not think Jesus would have banned Don sterling were Jesus in Adam Silvers position. I think it would be much more Christ like to fine Mr. Sterling and for him to publicly apologize. Our nation complains about the evil in this world but yet harbor it by being unforgiving.
Some people don't like the ACLU, but they will defend your right to state your beliefs. They defend pro Nazi scumbags, those who want to burn our flag (disrespectful, but allowed)... America was founded on the right to state your beliefs - even if those beliefs are unGodly, repugnant and incendiary.

Thing is this...

Its a public business that depends on public trust. If that trust is broken, then no one will go to NBA games and they all lose.

From a business standpoint I understand what the NBA did....they protected the product. In this extremely thin skinned era where you cannot even disagree politically with the president without being called a racist, the NBA had little choice.

How this information was gathered was criminal.

I believe it was a set-up. Magic Johnson was involved, wants to buy the team, even though he has denied it, and was the first to condemn Sterling on national tv.

Lets put some perspective on this situation. First what Sterling said was offensive...ok? However....

his gf who knows he is married, had a photo taken with Magic Johnson and then put it up on instagram. Then she calls him and asks very leading questions that exposes his racism...ok?

Think on that for a sec. Your gf, who knows you are married, which makes her a woman of loose morals, is taking a pic with Magic Johnson, a man proven to have the loosest morals, and HIV....wouldn't that kinda upset you?

....and wouldn't the gf KNOW that? Did it anyways and then set him up on a phone call, which was recorded with amazing sound quality?

With Magic Johnson who stands to get a great deal on a ''tarnished'' franchise and being black, of course, would make it all right. Obama will praise him and he will be a national hero once again.

Sterling should lose his team....and be paid for it....but the rest should go to jail too.

Instead Johnson will get some medal from our president.

Yeah, that is our country today.
I dont believe he has it because he claims he has been cured of it

Sterling had a gf. He is married.

Media could care less.

A recorded, with excellent sound by the way, conversation with his gf, who cannot be of the highest morals being with a married man, over her association with a man who has claimed to have been VERY promiscuous, who has the HIV virus....I think most men in that situation would get mad.

Have ya ever, ever said anything in an argument that was stupid?

Would ya want that to become public knowledge?

I think this ''gf'' and Magic got together and planned this to not only discredit Sterling, who seems to have a past of bigotry, but to lower the price on the team Magic has an interest in buying.

Something smells fishy here.....very.

Show me how I stuck up for Sterling?

I said he said bad things.

He had a record of bad stuff.

He is married with a gf.

All I defended was the circumstances around this exposure, since we are supposed to live in a country of free speech.

Would you want your arguements with your wife/gf to be taped? Somehow I doubt that.

this is a christian site not some bigotry site and thats exactly what Sterling is a BIGOT. And furthermore, since he WAS an owner of an NBA team, they are in the spotlight always thats why he lost his job. Its rightfully so too. Hypocrite much?

I never said it wasnt a Christian site just tired of magic Johnson being brought up for no reason. And just because we forgive doesnt mean there aren't consequences for his bigoted actions

I completely agree about Sterling but how do you think that Sharpton has gotten away then with so much overt racism in his speech and behavior for so many years? He has been caught on tape using racially bigoted language for decades. He's spewed his vile against white people, Jews, even blacks that he dislikes and been rewarded for it.

And as creepy as Sterling is (and he is creepy), Sterling never worked to put innocent people in prison for fake rape charges.

Sterling's wrong and so is Al Sharpton. But Sterling is punished for his racism while Al Sharpton is rewarded for his racism. I see a glaring double standard.

And just because we forgive doesnt mean there aren't consequences for his bigoted actions

Magic Johnson was involved. Its what Sterling and his gf were argueing about.

He also is a prospective buyer of the team.

His past is relevent because of why Sterling and his gf were argueing, so I do not see why we should not talk about Magic in this story, he is a key player in this...

but it makes me wonder why you think Magic should not be mentioned in this story.

here it is Magic Johnson, has the RIGHT as an AMERICAN to buy the CLIPPERS CORRECT? anyways his HIV diagnosis has nothing to do with the fact that Donald Sterling is a racist bigot and deserves to burn unless he asks for forgiveness I have blacks in my family so this issue hits home hard

Johnson was out with Sterling's gf.

Sterling was married. His gf knew that he was married which makes her a woman of loose character. ( Sterling too of course )

His gf was hanging out with Magic Johnson, someone who was notoriously a womanizer.

That led to an arguement between Sterling and his gf.

The recording was of very good sound quality. Magic Johnson was a perspective buyer of the team. If the owner gets into a scandal involving racism, which he had problems with in the past, the team could sell for much less money and wallah!!

Johnson would be there for the cheap team. Saving the NBA by having another black owner proving the NBA is not racist.

That's how Johnson is involved.
