I have been emailing Cxjonz and through our conversation he has suggested we open the discussion publicly and that I begin with my own words. Here they are.

I have traveled to nearly all 50 states. I have lived in 7 of them, literally east to west, north to south. Jesus has always been my guide. Anyone who knows any bit of my testimony should see that. I have been to more churches than I can count. I never pass up a chance to speak to anyone about Jesus, I love it when mormons and Jehovah's witnesses knock on my door, I will put coffee on. On a Sunday depending where I am I will attend ANY church that professes Jesus. Even if their teachings are wrong I will do so just for the people who are there genuinely seeking Christ even if they are mislead. Even when I haven't detected any, there are still children playing among the chairs, it's still an enjoyable Sunday. Then the morning carries on.

In all of my journeys I have been disappointed by the ceremonies, the teachings and the clergy nearly every single time. I know that churches aren't perfect and I'm not going around trying to judge, however nearly every time it seems that God puts me their at their worst. Here are just 3 examples.

In Dallas I was in a church and half way through the sermon the pastor say's "And nobody REALLY knows if God exists." I nearly jumped from my seat and assured the congregation with bewildered eyes, but I retained composure and I raised my hand immediately. The pastors face flushed and he spoke harshly "QUESTIONS CAN WAIT TIL AFTER THE SERVICE SIR!" i rose immediately and walked out, reading my bible on some stairs waiting for the friends who brought me.

Here in Austin, I attended a church for the first time with a very dear friend of mine and we drove around ready for any random church. We went in and listened to an hour of very long explanations and examples like " if you order a latte at mcdonalds with extra sugar and they add cream they messed up your order. Because you asked precisely for one thing. After an hour he said "I told you all of that so you would understand why we don't use instruments to worship God." I looked at my friend "want to leave?" He said "yes" and we rose up and left.

(how many first time church goers might have been there that day, seeking to find the truth and heard that blabber?)

Bastrop, Texas, I went into a church with my friends, at this point nearly all of my friends and their families went there. I was surprised. There were so many different families of people I knew seated in different areas that I just stood against the wall in the back, not knowing who to sit with and also curious about the church. There were ushers standing and of course people coming in and out. Nobody had a problem with me leaning against the wall. After about 45 minutes a woman approached me "sir at this point in the service the pastor asks that everyone is seated." She was very stern and wouldn't accept no for an answer so I walked about 15 feet away where there were portable steps for the stage against the wall. I sat down and she just stood there glaring at me. The pastors demeanor changed, he suddenly for the first time had great energy in the Holy Spirit. He started getting hyped and hyping up the crowd. Huge amounts of energy and faith and the crowd began roaring. I saw it for what it was. I thought "don't do it, don't you dare do this and then ask for money.) he did. I felt a heat growing in my chest and sure enough he played the crowd like an instrument and at the pinnacle of his performance the ushers materialized on the ends of the rows and envelopes were passed out. He then had everyone raise their envelopes over their heads and pray that their money would go where God wanted it. I was disgusted.

But churches truly led by God DO EXIST and this is one of the few examples of that.

I was in Longview, Washington and I went wandering for a church, I found only a Mormon church so I went in. There were some lovely people there, the room was boring and they didn't speak with any zeal bout Jesus, it was very officelike, but there were kids playing among the chairs and I got my fill of pleasant. After the service they branched in to classrooms and I just left. I wandered down the road and then I heard music floating over the rooftops and I began walking that way. A couple miles away was a small lake in the middle of the urban area and there was a little festival happening. There was a stage along the water and a man speaking to the crowd about Jesus he said "I don't want you to hear me, if I do my job correctly I will disappear and there will only be Jesus' words. He spoke with love and passion and I stood there for 30-45 minutes loving his service. People who had been buying scones were attracted by the crowd and at the end 3 thugs, all tatted up in ganster clothing were saying the salvation prayer in front of the stage YELLING THE WORDS TO THE SKY!! AMEN!!

That, however is a SUPER RARE story, here is the real world we live in.

The television preachers. Pastor Peter Popoff, "buy some Holy water!", Joel O'steen "I say wear your blessings well." Christians are condoning homosexuality like it's not a sin. I don't pass judgement God does, but His Word is His Word, we WILL be held responsible if we tell someone it's okay to do something that will lead to their eternal destruction.

Needless to say it is a narrow road that leads to salvation and a wide road that leads to destruction. As Cxjonz said "there is a church on every corner" Clearly the majority of "churches" are being deceived. Again, that is just from the Bible, my travels and what is made public.

I do believe that there are churches out there that are led by Jesus. Let me rephrase that "I KNOW" there are churches out there of which Jesus is the head and doing a work in."

Here is a call to the church by a real preacher.

It's already foretold in the Bible countless of times. There will be Christians out there, but they will not be of God (born-again). True enough, that is happening everywhere we go. And to tell you the truth, it doesn't matter about the size of the congregation or the wealth and looks of the church. Because the church is the body of Christ. The gathering of saints, in Christ. And that is also what it means to be a Christian. Not to be wealthy or well-known, but to be of Christ.

Truth be told, there are hundreds of Gospels being preched out there. Why? Because people carelessly take verses in which they like and throw away those they don't like. And by doing this, new Gospels are born. Different preachings and teaching. And also the fact that everyone tries to understand the Bible with their own thoughts and minds, unaware of the fact that their own thinking caused them to sin (Adam and Eve).

I couod probably go on and on. But seeing you speak highly (and lowly) or chuches is nice. (Not the lowly part. Haha) But, the message should stand out more than the church does. Because the church doesn't save the people; the Gospel in which God gives, does.

God bless.

Maybe your problem with finding a church is the simple fact that just because a church claims Jesus does not necessarily mean that they follow and or preach Jesus!

Just saying that is.......

I enjoyed reading this . . . . just saying! :)

Why? Why do they unilaterally only have a form of Godliness?

Because of the end of the age and the apo-hystamie that is taking place....Christianity has run it's course and to be quite frank, Jesus asked if he would even find faith when he returns...

The problem is the religionization (NEW WORD) of BIBLICAL Christianity and to be quite frank who really serves God and puts themselves totally last.....?

Christianity on a whole is judged in the world by the RCC and in so doing has made a farce of biblical Christianity and not to mention that most who claim Jesus look like the world, walk like the world, talk like the world, lives like the world and they themselves have tainted the whole!

Ahhh, a person who has it right. I am and have been a David Wilkerson
follower since the 70's. I have heard the Video sermon "AGUISH".....
No man can fill Pastor Davids shoes. I believe him and when I have shared
his prophecies he said would come to pass .... (70's book )..... all have been
fulfilled, and I get put down for it. I still support the ministry, but I feel the
loss of his preaching.

You have been blessed to search out Churches. At least you know what is
going on in them. You see the change that has taken place. God bless ~
Thank you for sharing~ I enjoyed reading it. ~

Some wolves walk like sheep and some baaa like sheep only difference is...they eat sheep!

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (Act 20:28-30)

The OP pointed out examples of pseudo-shepherds.

You know you hit the nail on the head. The people act like God is supposed to
change to fit the secular lifestyle. I remember when a friend had a granddaughter
come to her and told her she wanted to go live with her boyfriend out of State.
The girls mother did not want her to. But my friend, one who professed to be
Christian.... told her granddaughter... Go... after all it is the 90's..... I thought oh
good grief... this is exactly what is happening to Christians who begin to think
like the world. BTW, the girl did end up getting married to him...Praise God for
that. So, making people understand God has not changed to suit their whims
and sick desires, is like throwing fuel on the fire...they just don't get it..

Might I add... if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck...

To the Op,

This is the great falling away, the apostacy of the church foretold in the last days before the Antichrist is revealed. Because of this, churches are splitting due to the separation of the dedicated christians & apostates.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (KJV) [SUP]3 [/SUP]Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [SUP]4 [/SUP]Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

And what of the likes of Karol Woytla, Francis de Assisi, Thomas de Aquino, Francis de Sales, Dominic, Kevin of Ravens, Vishinski, Roncalli, Benedict, Augustine, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Maximillian, Therese, Teresa, Clare de Assisi, and the many other men and women who walked humbly and served God, even when it meant torture, poison, jail, mocking, being ignored, killed, killed in another's place, placed in Gulags, and open resentment and hatred. Many have come down through the ages, selfishly seeking power, money, and corruption, but in stark contrast people like these, whom I have listed above, arrived and humbly, zealously, and selflessly reformed and corrected the Churches of their time.

I don't doubt there are bad pastors, priests, deacons, bishops, and ministers, but in the quiet of the world, Christ is working.

Martin Luther also did some excellent reforming...

you seem to have left him off the list.

Testimony: I prayed every time I passed a little Church that sat off the highway
we passed each time we were out. I felt God wanted me to pray for the Church
to get a Pastor. A Godly Pastor. For one year I prayed for that Church and then
it happened. There were cars over there in the lot. Finally one Saturday night
God spoke to my spirit and said tomorrow I want you to go. Okay, I will.

I knew nothing about the people who were in attendance. There were around
10 or so.... But it was a neat little place and could feel love. Anyway I was greeted
by this tall man and he had such a sweet spirit about him. I said to him.. after I
introduced myself, " God has had me praying for you to have a Pastor for a year
or so."

I went in and sat in the pew. And he gave the announcements and he said, "I
think we may have our answer." Then we went into Worship. I was used to that
type of Worship, and it was as I said a loving atmosphere. ( I am trying to hurry ).

Okay, it turned out they were debating closing the bldg. up and leave it. It was
mostly three families, but they loved the Lord and had giving hearts. Okay, so they
get a great man in to preach for trial basis. He was a Bible preacher. YEA !! I
always felt a man of God should be able to preach from Scripture. Okay, so he
put in his 6 mos. For some reason they chose not to keep him. He was middle
age, and married and solid. But, he was not voted in.

I quit going for a while, and one day I went and on the little porch of the Church
stood a woman, man, 3 little ones. The Worship leader was struggling to get
the door to unlock, it would not unlock for her at all.... finally she called her husband
to come, but in mean time she did get it unlocked. ( There was a reason that door
did not want to unlock)..... Stay with me..

As the young woman was standing waiting for us to be able to get in, she seemed
like a little poor maybe, and she explained her family had been in the Methodist
Church in another town and for reasons I won't share, she said they felt they had
to leave it. Driving around they found this one.

Turned out this young woman could sing... so they let her sing... I was not regular
in my attendance but I went back and next thing I know ... she could preach... and
then next thing I know, she is being considered as Pastor.... they were going to let
her try 6 mo. period.

I confess the Church grew a little more but it was more from her area and they
followed her. She was showy, and used her friends to preach for her, etc. Some
thing was so wrong with that picture and I could not stand to be there. But, I
went back and by this time, they are very well dressed and her husband, glared
at me ( he had always been humble and kind ).... I did notice he was dressed in
a suit, the kids were now dressed adorable... and she was dressed nicer. I thought
the founding ladies probably helped her with her style of dress.

Turned out she was a missionary child... Traveled in India and all over with her
parents. And then she began to bring in others to preach ... It was growing.
Still something was wrong. We did have laying on of hands .... prophecy was given.
I had no problem with that... there was something wrong ... I could not go there.

Turned out she was hired and then she was getting rid of the people who
founded it. I can't give details but I can say she was a woman who was like a
Jezebel spirit. ONE MUST REMEMBER ' JEZEBEL' is a CONTROLLER. The
two older founders were told to leave. They refused. When asked how can you
make us leave ? She said she would stand in the pulpit and announce they were
to leave. That left the Worship leader... her husband and children. It is my
understanding the Worship leader, who was really a beautiful Christian woman,
very intelligent.. wanted to stay, but her husband said No... And one other
regular girl tried to stay... She was actually being asked to preach. I was out
of there long time while this was going on. Last I had heard the Pastor woman
was in India... Then I heard she was in Texas...

The Church ? Abandoned...... I wanted to cry... I questioned my praying for
the Church... was it God who sent me ? Was the blood on my hands the way
it turned out ? I was not active in the Church. Just attended.. The people
were wonderful, but each family went their separate way to other Churches.

Now I know why that door refused to unlock when the Worship leader could
not get to open... It was as if the spirit of the Church knew the young woman
who was sent to destroy it. Oh and she was 29 years old. Go figure... One
person did so much damage... No longer a Church... I am sad and even more
sad that she laid hands on me to pray over me..... and she prayed in tongues
and the area she kept praying over has never been right since. I have had to
pray against the spirits that she brought with her.

So that is my story of what one person can do to a little Church that was just
getting started and our community needed it so badly.

My warning is this... if your spirit tells you something is wrong here.... believe
it.... It probably is....
