The only obedience which secures salvation for man is this command:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

For by grace, you have been saved through faith, & that not of yourselves, not of works lest anyone should perish.

The general need to obey condemns you, because of your failure.

Jesus said more than "Believe". Jesus also said "Follow Me" and He continued to say and to command much more.
Of course, and everything He said which we have is written from Genesis - Revelation. But not all of it by any means is the plan of salvation. For that Believe/have faith is repeated by itself over and over with nothing added.

"followers of the Way".
I hope your are not part of the Way cult.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

Show me a scripture which says "eternal security" Well you cannot accept what you have not received. And since you don't like to obey hold on to this ...
Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;[/QUOTE]

The only obedience which saves is obeying this command:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

Otherwise, commands to obey will condemn you for not obeying. How many times have you disobeyed today?

why are you making up libel about me? Thou shalt not bear false witness. Now there is one to obey.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

Stop bearing false witness.
Ben, you may wish you could stop persons from posting something, but you cannot; you waste your time.

Anyone who cares can go back to your post #1857 where you deny eternal security:

for the believer, once someone leaves the faith they are no longer a believer.
So, the acronym ESOTB fits better, as it allows for apostasy. For someone, for whatever reason, to deny Christ and forsake the Gospel of Grace.

You clearly imply that a believer can stop being a believer and apostatize. So why not just be honest and admit it?

Are you not implying that you do not trust the Lord Jesus for your eternal destiny. Are you not saying that your final destiny is thus uncertain, and you might end up in the Lake of Fire because apostasy is possible for a believer?

In that case, I tell the audience that such a person needs to trust the Lord Jesus as His Savior, to trust the Lord Jesus with his eternal destiny.

Now I challenge you to either prove your theory from the Bible or retract.

Beware of Double Talk on Doctrine

For example, your local cult may tell you that they believe that the Bible is the Word of God, but when it gets down to it, really they believe the Bible only as the cult leadership interprets it.

Now if someone says,
"I believe in eternal security,"
only you can stop being a believer and apostatize, so you only have eternal security when you were a believer; thus you might end up in the Lake of Fire though you were an eternally secure believer
"
-- that is confusing double talk. And we know who the author of confusion is.

satan is subtle. The above is double talk. If a believer could some way end up in the Lake of Fire, he was never secure. Saying you have eternal security only so long as, is really an outrage to the language. No one is secure without being secure. If you can lose your security, you were not eternally secure.

This double talk may be more dangerous than just flat out saying that salvation is by works, or no one has security at all, dangerous because it is double-talk, and is a temptation to a person not to actually trust the Savior with His eternal destiny.

If you think somehow you might end up damned, then you do not trust the Savior with your destiny.

In which case, the advice is

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

that is pretty simple and straight forward even the 'blind' could see
Anyone who confuses man's responsibility to believe for salvation with the other many commandments in the Bible is blind.

If you confuse judgment with salvation, you need glasses.

If you confuse rewards for good works offered to Christians with the idea that good works bring salvation, you are blind and deaf, if you ever heard the word on those subjects.

If you confuse the believer with the professor, you can't smell.

If you confuse human theory with God's Word, you can't taste.

If you think salvation is something you can lose, your sense of balance is out of whack.

If you can't call on the name of the Lord for salvation, you are mute.

If you brag on how many good works you have, you lack underarm deodorant and mouth wash.

You Cannot UnSeal the Seal; No Tampering Allowed

"And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God,
in whom ye were sealed to the day of redemption."

The believer has been sealed.
A seal is a seal, though we may grieve Him, give Him mental pain.

The seal lasts to the Day of Redemption.
A final day of redemption is to come.
The believer will have a glorified body and no longer have the ability to sin. He who has suffered in the flesh, has ceased from sin.

Now I can see the satanic objection:
Well, yas, you are sealed, but if you unseal yourself, then you won't be sealed. Now how are you going to unseal what the Lord has sealed? He shuts and none opens; He opens and none shuts.

No, when you are saved, you are sealed. You couldn't unseal it with a stick of dynamite or an atomic bomb.

The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Ad nauseam

This argument approach uses tireless repetition of an idea. An idea, especially a simple slogan, that is repeated enough times, may begin to be taken as the truth. This approach works best when media sources are limited and controlled by the propagator.

Sat Nite Sing Time

It is Saturday Night; Biblically the first day has begun at sunset. So, like we see in Acts, we could have church -- not that any day is commanded for the assembly.

So Let's sing it based on Philippians 1:

"He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ:"

A song to encourage the one who trusts the Lord Jesus with his eternal destiny. Let 'er rip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNjZlHARnEk

He Who began a good work in you,
He Who began a good work in you
Will be faithful to complete it;
He'll be faithful to complete it;
He who started the work
Will be faithful to complete it in you.

If the struggle you're facing
Is slowly replacing
Your hope with despair,
Or the process is long,
And your losing your song in the night;
You can be sure that the Lord has His hand on you;
Safe and secure;
He will never abandon you;
You are His treasure
And He finds His pleasure in you.

Dear Kerry,
you cannot be saved without being saved. If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. Water baptism is not required for salvation; and in fact those who trust water baptism for salvation, indicate a failure to trust the Lord Jesus as only & sufficient Savior.

Flip flopping I see show me "eternal security" in any scripture you who encourage men to disobey

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
Acts 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

Canard vs OSS = It Would Lead to the Believer Sinning & Rejoicing in Sin

OSS = Once Saved, Saved
(if you are once saved, you are saved!)
Eternal Security

Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? let it not be so; we who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?

Romans indicates that the canard vs eternal security goes back at least to Paul's time when he wrote Romans.

So we may hear unsaved persons, who never do anything but sin, who are described in lurid detail in Romans 1, having the gall to object to eternal security in Christ, on the grounds that it would lead to sin.

But the love of Christ constrains the believer. Being secure in Christ has never made me want to sin. If you want to stir up sin, preach the heresy of salvation by keeping the commandments. Commandments stir up sin like a sign that says, "Don't spit here."

It needs to ring home that the Lord Jesus is the Savior. He saves from sin; we cannot stop ourselves from sinning. If you seriously want to stop sinning, the only way is by trusting the Savior who can make you over again, give you new birth with a new godly nature that loves the things of the Lord.

Eternal Security implies that the Lord Jesus saves me both from sin and damnation, also from my incurably sinful Adamic nature. The one who trusts Christ with his eternal destiny receives a new nature that abhors sin.

If you would be free of sin, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.
Trust Him wholly with your eternal destiny.
But if you really want to continue in sin, continue to reject eternal security in Christ -- keep on refusing to trust Him wholly with your future. Be a self-righteous Pharisee who needs no Savior.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

Re: Canard vs OSS = It Encourages Disobedience

OSS = Once Saved, Saved!
Eternal Security

The old canard is presented that eternal security encourages disobedience,
but in fact trusting Christ completely for your future is the only way to effect obedience.
The first big obedience is "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

No one can show that trusting the Lord Jesus with one's future (eternal security) encourages anyone to disobey.

It is nonsense for pretend Christians who never really trusted the Lord Jesus with their destiny, and thus sin all the time, to take to task those who really trust Him on the grounds that their profound trust in Christ leads to disobedience.

But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus: for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, that no man should glory. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.

The only way to be obeying is to be His workmanship recreated in Christ to be a good-works machine.

It is the height of hypocrisy for any man who is a self-righteous pretender, who has never done anything all his life but sin, to turn around and accuse the plan of salvation as producing disobedience.

The Lord Jesus is a Savior; He provides a complete package: new birth, transformation, forgiveness of sins, eternal life, change to good-works machine. But you don't get the package without trusting Him as Savior. You must trust Him with your eternal destiny without pretending that your obedience is going to save you. You must have salvation first before the obedience can be effected.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

This is about the Tribulation, if you make it until Christ return you are saved from earthly problems.
But it is also true that Eternal Security means that every believer does endure.

The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable.

Old Water Baptism Canard: Water Baptism Does Not Save.

When was the thief on the cross baptized?

Since salvation is offered many, many times just for believing/faith, nothing else can be essential.
Spirit baptism is salvific, but not water baptism. Water is not mentioned in the few verses that speak of baptism in connection with salvation.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.

1 Tim 2:14-15 Has a Rare Ref to "saved in childbearing"

Whatever that obscure verse means, it does not imply that a woman must have a child to be saved, for crying outloud.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

The thief died didn't he, why would he need to be baptized when Christ preached the gospel to the dead also, or maybe you don't believe that either.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 9:18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Acts 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
1 Corinthians 15:24-30
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

[SUP]25 [/SUP]For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
[SUP]28 [/SUP]And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
[SUP]29 [/SUP]Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
[SUP]30 [/SUP]And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
