we know the Sabbath is Gods sign or mark..........
I fail to find a single command in the New Covenant to worship on any particular day, or that Sunday was other than a day under the lordship of Jesus. Jesus is our sabbath rest, that being but one of a multitude of New Covenant benefits. It is my belief Saturday sabbath was a sign of the old covenant, for the Jews, not intended for Gentiles of their day, or Christians. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath according to
Luke 6:5 (KJV) [SUP]
5 [/SUP] And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Yet He never commanded followers to keep the Jew's sabbath.
No day has mastery over men today unless they submit to the old covenant. In the New Covenant the fourth commandment was left out because the Kingdom of Heaven had arrived via Christ (The Anointed) Jesus ended the need for a shadow of what was to come, an eternal rest better than the lesser rest allowed the Jews in memorial of the deliverance of God in Exodus.
Jesus arose on Sunday. His arising from death is quite significant, marking the birth of the New Covenant that was sealed with His blood. That day is far better than the Old Covenant day set in death while Jesus yet was on the cross.
Here are some verse leads about when disciples did meet on Sundays:
Acts 20:7 (KJV) [SUP]
7 [/SUP] And upon the first
day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
1 Corinthians 16:2 (KJV) [SUP]
2 [/SUP] Upon the first
day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
They are not said to have met in synagogues on the last day of the week, then expected to gather the tithes for Paul to pick up.
I'd say it's safe to drop the last day sign, stick to Sunday as the long-held day convenient and meaningful to born again disciples. Paul taught them not to receive judgment over any sabbath day, moon, food or any of that the Jews were beholding to.
The sign in question is not a "sign" like a religious day, but an actual mark, a tattoo perhaps like a brand on a cow on the forehead or hand. Without it a person won't be allowed to buy or sell any day of the week. The idea is those without a mark are left to starve, hopefully looking to God.
Revelation 14:9-11 (KJV)
[SUP]
9 [/SUP] And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive
his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
[SUP]
10 [/SUP] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
[SUP]
11 [/SUP] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
It speaks of those following the Beast. Perhaps it is an angel that does the marking? Or maybe the angels let men do that. If someone decided later to change over, they would have to peel their forehead off or sever the marked hand. That would be a tough decision. So looking at it that way anyone lacking one or the other mark would be targeted by the Antichrist army. It would make it easier for the strange creatures of Revelation to fly about stinging folks of the Beast only.
The Beast won't be going after Sunday worshippers, as the Church is gone after Revelation 4. He's going after folks not wearing that mark, not worshipping Antichrist.
All Christians avoid taking any sign like that in Revelation 14:9
There is in 14:1 a good mark, the name of the Father God in the foreheads of 144,000 virgin Jews, youths selected from the 12 tribes of Isreal in those days, who will not bow. They will be great evangelists for Christ. If you meet one some day know the rapture is history, and you will know they are on God's side. Welcome them warmly, bless them well, [follow their instructions (my opinion)].
