Why christians shouldn't celebrate Christmas.

Whatever works best for you my friend. But I know what works best for me and what I need, and celebrating every moment of every day the resurrection of Christ, celebrating the Birth of Jesus as the "Firstborn Son of God by Resurrection from the dead" in my Life...(Rom 1:4) Is a COMPLETE story for me, and the only one that ends in Eternal Life :)

It doesn't, it is pagan, we all know it. A combination of Constantine's pagan "Saturnalia" festival, worshipping in the grove of trees, fertility rites, decorating trees... all introduced when the Roman emperor sort of "converted" to "Christianity", incorporating his pagan rituals into a strange blend of pagan/Christianity. Same with easter/Astarte fertility cult worship with eggs and rabbits, or valentine's day... all old world paganism. No men ever celebrated birthdays. Flavius Josephus wrote of the "strange custom of the heathen in not only noting, but "celebrating" when one of them was born year after year". It is a strange custom. I never do it. Birthdays or Christmas. It is foreign to scriptures yes, but folk like it as a festival, a tradition. to each his own I guess. Nothing of interest in it for me though.
 
Using the internet and texting is not in the Bible either... so what are you doing posting on here?
 
To the OP I think if you read that verse in other translations it is talking about the making of idols,not Christmas trees.The KJV is not so clear on this.As far as the pagan origins of Christmas and Easter I dont care about.There are things we use everyday that tie into ungodly things.For example most if not all phone companies have stock in porn,food companies support gay pride etc,etc. So do you live like the Amish? You can if you feel that is the only way.Christmas for me as a child was going to church celebrating Christs birth with carols,Bible reading and plays the same as Easter.How could that be wrong? I dont care what the pagans did to it,in our hearts we are celebrating Christ coming to earth or Christs death on the cross.The gay community took the rainbow as their symbol are rainbows off limit now? Gods own sign to us? No. So I keep Christmas and Easter and will continue to celebrate it wholeheartedly.It has meaning to me and always will.

it is called wisdom ....we use the internet to learn and edify about scripture....some use it for porn and scamming...I have a car, I wear specs and I have a smart phone.....I did not see them in the bible either.....what is your point? do you wish to justify celebrating your pagan custom?..go ahead and do so...

Because this Glorifies Christ. Celebrating a pagan tradition doesn't. You didn't really mean to ask that did you?

Yes I did and I was serious. Anything and everything can be associated with pagan rituals and holidays if you look hard enough. Birthdays are an established part of our culture and there is nothing wrong with celebrating a birthday. 25 December was chosen, why initially it was chosen, who knows, could be to rival pagan holidays, but so what, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, pick any date and you proberbly find another pagan holiday or whatever. Show me in the Bible where God says its evil and against his wishes to commemorate a birthday.

God does not make our decisions for us ...that is why the word says...

if you want to be conformed to the world, and you think what you do is proving what is that good, acceptable and perfect will if God....then so be it.....have fun with santa , Rudolph , your christmas tree and stockings
 
WHere did I mention Rudolph and Santa? I do not see nativities with Rudolph or Santa either, Christmas service that is all about Jesus, not a whiff of raindeer poo. That is what the world does on Christmas, that is problem I think, not being able to see there is a difference. Nothing really that bad about Santa either, just crass commercialism. Turn Jesus official birthday into a commercial farce without him, sad. Christmas is all about Jesus, just as Easter is.

The issue is that all of the other things you've mentioned have no association to God and the worship of Him. Christmas is different.

And if you're so convinced it's all about celebrating Jesus' birth, why not celebrate it closer to His actual birth? September-ish?
 
Yup. We all know the commandment in the Bible that says "Thou shalt not make any celebration days other than those expressly mentioned in the Bible." :rolleyes:

Do you go to church on Sunday or the Sabbath? Because some will say you are sinning to go to church on Sunday.The Bible says to work out your own salvation in fear and trembling.Honoring His birth at Christmas is not wrong.Honoring His death at Easter is not wrong.The Bible would have said so if it was.The reference to the tree was about building idols from the wood,not Christmas trees.That wasn't even thought of for years later.Has it become commercialized? Yes.But I guarantee you this if we as Christians changed when we celebrated Christs birth to Sept. Hallmark would make a card for it and Walmart would make a decoration for it. You cannot avoid that but you can refuse to take part in it and celebrate the reason for the season.Why are atheists fighting so hard to stop people from saying Merry CHRISTmas? And want it to be Happy Hoildays and a holiday tree? Even though holiday came from holy day.Because they don't want the Christian influence,the baby Jesus who was crucified.They dont want to be reminded.So I say Merry CHRISTmas and God bless us everyone.
