Big Bang Biblical???

They recreated the "big bang" machine... did you hear about that. I seriously roared when i saw that... wonder if new heavens & earth will be created by the "miracle" (their words not mine) of the big bang machine. I'm with Cup of Ruin & Pastor Keith... I'll stick with Gods interpretation of creation as given by scripture.

You still haven't covered it though! God spoke into being yes, but who says he didn't speak a bang? The scientists have no idea how this bang occured, what caused it. There are still questions there that are answered with God. I'm just saying that there isn't anything in the bible against the big bang. I'm also not saying that I agree with EVERY single word these scientists say, I am simply saying that it is quite possible. I don't even think it is arrogance, we aren't called to have blind faith. So I don't see what is so wrong with it?

I also didn't say that we came from the bang. I said the earth could have.

I have already stated that i don't agree with every single word. I'm not even saying this is 100% what I believe, I am throwing this out there. It is quite possible that God spoke the world into it's existence through a "bang". Where in the bible does it say that this isn't possible, or tell us another way? I think you are also wrong on your last statement. the MAJORITY of people who support big bang support evolution and stheism.

Yes, it is possible, but I don't think it's anything important to waste my time thinking about because I'll never know the answer. Aren't you agreeing with my statement?

I don't see how it is a waste of time. If it is, why are you bothering posting in here? lol. In a way I am agreeing, but not intirerly.

I'm not speaking to your personally Cako, no offense but in line with the big bang is the theory of evolution... I dont subscribe to twisting scripture to suit worldly views, that is all. The creation of the heavens & earth may never be comprehended by humans... wonder how they are making out with the big bang machine....;)

I haven't twisted scripture at all. Where have I twisted it? You view it has being in line with evolution, I do not. The big bang itself isn't comprehended by humans.
 
I said I dont speak to your personally. Perhaps God said and there was a BANG and now there is light.... not how i read it. Just go with your faith cako.
 
I did not read the entire thread, but based on the book "A Brief History of Time" I have found reason to believe in the Big Bang Theory, just not in the atheistic sense. I do believe the universe is infinite... I guess. I also believe it is expanding, as physics has shown. If it was not moving outward, it would have to be infinite, static and motionless to keep it from collapsing on itself at an accelerating rate. It is not motionless, so therefore the gravity would be imbalanced... yada, yada, yada.

As many have said, the BB Theory started out as a Christian defense. The Holy Spirit and the Word of God created the energy that set thing sin motion. God created Creation, but the motion of the Universe suggests that all things were sent out from one place. There is no reason to throw out the baby with the bath water.

The same way modern science does not have to be at war with God, the Big Bang Theory does not have to exclude God.

Stop complaining! You're lucky I didn't make a reference to your flaping head and saying 'aboot' instead of 'about'.

Just kidding. I have no bad words for a country that has HM the Queen as head of state. I'm rather fond of the old Empire.
 
I'm with you Cako *thumbs up*. All you're saying is that "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth", and another word for that is "the big bang". Different words for the same thing. People are afraid of the phrase though because scientists use it, and science is evil.
 
How does science explain Isaiah 38:8 where God stopped the sun for king Hezakiah? just curious? You attribute ignorance to the acknowledgement that the things of GOD are beyond our puny earthly minds. accept it and grow in faith.

God isn't bound to the laws of science that he created for us.
 
I am probable more conservative than most and very liberal according to others. Here is my opinion:
1. The laws of enthalpy say that in order to create a system you must put at least as much or more energy into it than the sum of the energy of the system. i.e. If the universe formed by natural law it would require more energy than exists in the entire universe. 2. The laws of entropy say that all things move from the orderly to the chaotic. Any order achieved must be balance by an exchange with a related system. i.e. If the universe formed by natural law the previous system had more total order than the universe. 3. If you had a system with more energy and more order than our universe what would have cause it to collapse into the pre-universe mass from which our universe formed. Why didn't it just wind down as ours appears to be doing. 4. Creation ex nihilo means that God cannot be measured in BTU's. lol.
I think that what scientist measure (the ambient energy of the universe) is an echo or shadow of creation. I do not believe in the "big bang". One thing for those who agree with me, the equating the big bang with an explosion doesn't really work since it deals with quantum physics and the four base forces of the universe.

So, who's to say that he didn't spin the earth into motion through the big bang? Now I'm not saying that I agree with evolution cause I absoloutly do not. But I am wondering why so many christians I know hear about the big bang and right away say no. It's quite possible that God created the earth through a bang, is it not? For additional interest, you can read up on the Gap Theory but I wouldn't get my head wrapped up in these things. When we go to Heaven, we'll find out. In the meantime, there are more important things to deal with. ;)
