Hey, I clicked on this post because I myself have long hair (me and all of my nine Samoan brothers), and I always have had long hair and always will. I wanna address a few things, because the conversation is pretty interesting.
Firstly, to those of you who think that a "male having long hair is not Biblical," please substantiate your point under one of the three following things in order to appeal to a 22-year-old lover of God who just so happens to have wavy dark hair that reaches his lower back: 1.) Mosaic Law, 2.) The Christ's Teachings, and 3.) The reality of the culture to which (as well as IN which) Paul addressed his statements.
Moses never said anything against a man having long hair. The Messiah never said anything against a man having long hair. (No prophet or scribe who laid their hands on Biblical text -- save Paul -- ever said anything against a man having long hair. Even Paul never said anything AGAINST the long-haired man himself.) Paul addressed a society in which men kept their hair shorter than women. Do you think that if Paul were writing to the Samoans of that time (from whom I descend and who kept/keep their hair long, women as well as men) that he would have said something like, "Isn't it obvious that men don't keep their hair longer than the hair of women?" He would have been snubbed! Anyway, Paul's point had nothing to do with the HAIR itself, but rather the NATURE of things. Who is the head of the woman? Who is the Crown of Creation? Who is the head of man?
Secondly, I agree with whoever said, "Do what feels best to you." I cut my hair once, shoulder-length. I hated it. In every dream I dreamt I still had long hair. Finally, my dream has come true! My hair, after two years, has finally grown back, more beautiful than ever!
Whenever my brothers and I go out in public, the ladies are always giggling. Or saying, "Oh my gosh, can I touch it?" Or "Oh, I'm so jealous. Your hair is so beautiful!" But you're right. It doesn't work for everybody.
When people ask me why I keep my hair so long, I tell them what is true:
1.) It is NATURAL for man to have long hair. SHORT, CUT hair is the ALTERATION. Not vice-versa.
2.) My mom loved Samson and the sect of Jews he belonged to, called Nazarites. Their vows included not drinking, not smoking, and not cutting their hair!
3.) We Samoans, who come from an itty bitty dot on your globe that sits on your desk at home, have ALWAYS had long hair. And our descendants who claimed the entire Ocean Realm of Islands (in what you call "the Pacific") is full of long-haired men just like me!
As for Jesus's long hair, who cares? I don't! I don't care what His hair looked like; He was the Son of God!
Why did people depict Jesus with long hair? Maybe the traditions and stories told of Him with long hair. Maybe the artists simply fancied it. Whatever the case, the Church surely didn't have a problem with it, even in light of Paul's text. Point: Jesus could have been bald for all we know. And anyway, there are many a Jewish rabbi who would refuse to let a razor touch any hair on their body. The bottom line is that He paid the price, in dreads or whatever.

I couldnt vote, because if a guy looks good, he looks good!!! If he has long hair, and loves it and is confident with it, then thats makes him very attractive, if he has short hair and is happy with it, and confident, then thats very attractive. Confidence in yourself is one of the most attractive assets one can possess! DHZ, if you love your hair long, and thats what makes you most happy, and most confident, then let it grow. Dont do it to please anyone, but yourself. Its not the hair that makes the man, its his character, his spirit, and his love of Christ thats most important...and if you let your hair grow, it doesnt mean that you love Christ any less, than anyone else!!!

well if your decision to go long or short is having to do with appealing to the ladies then you will most certainly attract a shallow person and you are using an outward appearence to do so whereas you should be you as long as it is proper and seek a woman/girl of depth and therefore strength. otherwise your girlfriend will be a weak link and not much of a helpmate
I just don't see why a women would want to have short hair. I think it is much more attractive to see a women with long hair.
Whenever I see a women with short hair it makes me think that she probably weres the pants of the family so to speak.

Hahaha !! Short hair or long hair on women makes someone think "submissive" or "not submissive"?? Isn't that pre judging someone before you know them?? That makes me giggle, I must be submissive 'cause my hairs long... Lol

I don't see anything wrong with it, and some guys do look good with longer hair, though not all can pull off the look (like women with shorter hair). I'd never cut my hair short, but that's because when I did cut my hair short (I was much younger at the time), I hated it. I cannot stand the way I look with shorter hair. But, going to back to men with longer hair, I'm not really a fan of longer hair on guys, just my personal preference. But, like I said, I see nothing wrong with it and some guys can pull off the look while others can't. I guess, to some extent, it also depends on how well it is taken care of.
As a side note, my younger brother, a year or so ago, had hair that was about as long as mine (and, it looked terrible, because he didn't take care of it). He was talking to me one day, and reached up and pulled his hair back and held it in his hand for a moment, almost in a ponytail. I started laughing, and he asked me why. I told him that, with his long hair, I couldn't help but think how much he looked like me. Of course, I was teasing, and he knew it. (We do look a lot alike, though, and we both look like our dad.) He just gave me look, rolled his eyes, and walked away. Lol. I'm such a nice sister. Hehe.
