"Mat 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mat 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mat 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Mat 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mat 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mat 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mat 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh."

I understand who the bridegroom is, I understand who the virgins are, both the wise and foolish.




What is the oil? What exactly is it that I should not be caught without?

It is a flammable liquid placed in lamps.........and when I saturates a wick, one can light the wick and provide light in the darkness.......or, just pour it into a puddle and light it that way I suppose...........

Do a study on virtue... or just type it in a search. Some kinds come not out but by prayer and fasting. Yes...also the Holy Spirit.
 
It's what causes the lamp to produce light... the knowledge and understanding of scripture.
 
The oil is the Holy Spirit - we are to keep filled and with it shine our light unto the world.
 
Oil, according to prophecy, is associated with the Holy Spirit.
It's not something you can run out of with use,
so don't read more into the parable than what is intended.
 
Amen. You don't run dry by burning it, you run dry by not filling the tank.
 
I'm not sure that oil necessarily represents the Holy Spirit in this particular parable, as such an interpretation would allow for Spirit indwelt and sealed believers to be denied entrance to the Kingdom.
But it is certainly a call to being awake and ready at His Coming, and ESPECIALLY, that those who are not awake and ready at His Coming will not have a last minute chance to convert (be made ready).

In this parable, the oil is bought and sold, suggesting that "oil", as an image in this parable, is more literal than in other prophetic texts.
 
Do we really know who the bridegroom is, if yes, then who is the 10 virgins?
Why 10 virgins and why spit into half, 5 wise and 5 foolish?
Both groups slumbered and slept and they both woke up when the cry at midnight came.
What then is the midnight cry?

Praise God it is not possible, or none of us could maintain salvation.

9-12 give an understanding.
If it is really salvation, then it perseveres. Not contingent, but product..

Did you read Hebrews 6:4-6? Or any of the new testament verses that use words such as 'if', 'unless', or 'must'?

I'll ask you to read the whole chapter, and then ask you to keep reading those verses a few times again.
It is not possible for a saved person to become unsaved, because it is impossible for a saved person to maintain their own salvation.

I guarantee that you are convicted by that verse. Why? Because all are guilty of shaming the cross.
You seem to lack understanding of Salvation itself, which is why you would bring up such a verse.

There is no possible reclaiming of Salvation. It is, or it isn't.
Repentance cannot renew salvation... It can only grant it, and grant it once alone.

Friend, grace is a gift that God only gives to those who are obedient and stay obedient. A saved person can choose to leave God.

How then were they saved?
By their own free will, that they could reject it by the same?

Grievous err tho dost bear.
 
It is by God's Grace, and at God's Will.
Obedience is the product, not the catalyst.

We are saved when we are baptized into Christ's death- where He shed His blood. And we keep in contact with that blood by taking the Lord's Supper. We become part of His body (the church). But let's say one gets saved through baptism and attends church regularly, but years later says they don't want to do this anymore, and quits going to church. How long could a finger, for example, be severed from the body before it dies? Without being attatched to the body so that the blood can reach all it's parts, not long. But if it was long, and did die, can it be reattached? No it can not.

How long can a finger pretend it's not part of a body?
It can't.
A finger might do it's own thing for awhile, but it can't detach itself. It's either a finger, or maybe it's just pretending to be for a little while... like a glove.

Water Baptism and physical Communion do not save and maintain.
Physical minded nonsense.
 
Let's say a "finger" stops "being part of the Body" for one week, because it is sick and needs to stay home.
Can it be reattached?
NO! According to Hebrews 6.

All this makes sense when you understand what the Body is, and what the Church is, and who YOU are in Christ. (or who you are not, and need to become)
