This is not meant to be in contradiction to what is been said.
Repentance means:-
(a)Change of mind
Change of mind means change of attitude
Change of attitude means change of behaviour

Whereas Conversion means a complete turning around, turning one's back on the world and facing God.
Careful study will show that Repentance is a word mostly used for believers, therefore is Conversion only used once for those coming to God, but afterward repents.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SINNER & A CHILD OF GOD
A sinner is someone that continuously, habitually sins, coz it's his nature to sin.
The child of God on the other hand is not a sinner, does not continuously nor sin by habit because his sinful nature is controlled by the Holy Spirit , though he can commit a sin through weakness, ignorance, unintentionally, unwilfully.

MISSING THE MARK
We cannot help birds flying over heads, but we can help it they should nest on our heads.
That's why Christians needs repentance for they occasionally miss the mark
but sinners needs conversion for they continuously miss the mark.

I lost wi-fi connection twice now my post ended up here, sorry

Why did we composed a song, "Prayer is the key to heaven", is it, is prayer the key?
So the New Apostolic church is right, they can open the gates of heaven and pray you into heaven?
God is the key to Heaven:

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
[SUP]26 [/SUP]Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matt 19:25&26

Putting aside the obvious issue that the "keys to the kingdom of heaven" are actually defined in Matthew 16 and given o someone, and associated with the "power to bind on earth, in heaven" so on, which I still maintain was said to reference back to Isaiah 22 , because Judaism regarded the old testament as the place to find answers, so it was symbol of an office in a davidic kingdom and that is how his audience would have understood it.

Moving on from that I see several definitions in a more generalised sense of "key to heaven" and some of the suggestions are undoubtedly valuable.

But the problem with it is framed in the question "the key" singular not "the keys" plural, as if only one thing mattered.
Luther had the same fixation. Only scripture. Only faith. Sola this and Sola that.

Why can't we all accept a lot of things matter?
Then all suggestions are additive, not a contest between them, and fewer arguments all round!
