Ya know, I hear a lot of these cute little labels thrown around as though the speaker knows, firsthand, about all the things they are subtlety accusing other Christians of doing. But, I am quite a bit older than most of you, and I imagine it is safe to say I have seen as much, if not more than the average poster..... and I have yet to see all this hell-bent for leather living you guys keep suggesting.

Where are you finding all this?
Excuse my ignorance, but what does "hell-bent for leather living" mean?

let us not forget, the 'greasy-grace' that is very common,
which is a license to ''sliver in sinful slime' and do everything
contrary to what is 'Good and Right in our Father's eyes.
You forgot to mention "sloppy agape"...

Ro 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Ro 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

1Jo 2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Hey Mitspa, brother.
Is this scripture directed at Sophia?
If so, a little harsh huh?
Sorry, just trying to figure out the context in which you are dropping these?

OR....is it, you are so bored, you are now debating yourself ?! Run out of friends to play with?
Just wondering, I apologize if those verses you posted were .....well....IDK, to say something maybe?

The Challenge of Making a Choice
Religious traditions die hard, and many find comfort in age-old customs and creeds. “Once a Catholic, always a Catholic,” some may say. Perhaps you feel the same way about your faith, preferring the traditional to the unknown. Certainly, it would be unwise to discard any tradition outright before analyzing its worth. Paul told the Thessalonian Christians to ‘hold fast to the traditions which they had learned.’ (2 Thessalonians 2:15, NE) On the other hand, Jesus warned that religious traditions can alienate us from God, invalidating his Word, the Bible. (Matthew 15:6) Tradition cannot always be trusted.
As knowledge increases, traditional procedures are often modified or even replaced in fields such as medicine, science, and technology. In these areas most people have an open mind, which is conducive to betterment. Even though we may think that our religious tradition is of divine origin, the Bible warns us “not [to] believe every inspired expression” but, rather, to “test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God.” (1 John 4:1) It recommends that we “make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21) Worthwhile traditions will always hold up under such scrutiny.

What? again didn't know there was a limit? How many can I post on?

I get it.
You can post on as many as you like.
The scripture that you posted--- IN CONTEXT---- to what others are posting, seems like it is directed at Sophia?

Mitspa, you're an alright dude, it's just that you claim that no one can teach you on CC...so maybe limit the things you sling brother? If I called you out on all the stuff I think that you were wrong on, I'd be here all day and night.

Okay. But we can learn more.
Here, from Titus, a book I don't read too often either.

TITUS 3:9-10
9.But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, [SUP]11 [/SUP]knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.

What does this mean to you......just wondering?
We all can help each other, brother.

Contentions and strivings about the law....friends that all the legalism that is promoted and taught on this forum. Those who say you need to keep this part of the law and that part....that's what Paul is talking about, not those of us who defend the grace of God.

1Ti 1:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

Okay.
Cool, was just wondering.

I have to admit, I don't see that at all. It still sounds to me like she is making fun of some people, and I don't understand why.
"Cheap grace" is understood by asking two questions.

1.Are you striving?
- If a person says "no", then they are living as if the grace given to them doesn't mean enough to them to change their ways. They can claim Grace and claim to be a new creation, but without real change, their words are just lip-service. That is the primary meaning of "cheap grace": someone saying or living a way that displays Grace as not powerful enough to encite real attitude, motivation, and behavioural change.

- If you answer "yes", then move on to question 2.

2. Why are you striving?
- If it is to earn Grace, or maintain salvation, then you are calling Grace insufficient.

- If you are striving out of appreciation for the grace you have been given, and and out of love for your saviour, and submission to the one who bought you,
then you have a RIGHT attitude.

We are saved by Grace, and called unto good works. Neglecting either side of that is to view Grace as being cheap.

I kinda assumed that most on the forum were on the same page about the heretical groups I mentioned in the OP.
I defend the Gospel of Grace on this forum right alongside you, but also focus on our calling unto holiness, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and good works.
We have to separate the doctrines of the call and response to Salvation, from the job we have been given by our calling.

He didn't save us to have us sitting around uselessly. We were saved for a purpose: to build the Kingdom.
Our Faith is more than just lip-service, just as worship of God is more than just emotional words and songs: it is a life of worship, with every action to be done for the glory of God. Can we live up to that calling? Not on our own strength, but we were not left alone.

Paul did not tell us to give up the struggle,
but to give it OVER to God.

Not by our power, but by His. And overcoming sin is not an allegorical statement.

But what about being teachers of righteousness, and instructing others in the ways of holiness?
Am I to be considered a legalist for encouraging others to not forsake their calling?
Our faith is not a "sit back and relax, you're saved now", but a "get up and move! You have been made free! Show others."

The groups I am referencing in the OP have a general attitude of self-center spirituality.
The rebuke goes to those all of those who are stuck in self-centered/culturally centered spititual ruts.
Both traditionalists, and "emmergent".
