oh, you 'can' punish or try to , and then God will execute a much much much greater punishment on you.

that's one scenario Jesus puts in the NT very clearly.

if you forgive the one who cheated you, then maybe God will forgive you your much greater sins some day.

For the record I think people who cheat are disgusting human beings and I don't support what they do in any way shape or form. They will be accountable for their actions before Christ's judgment seat, but just remember before you take too much pleasure in that - so will everyone else. My sin nailed my savior to a cross in violent and painful fashion.

All this being said, I'm confused (and a bit concerned) by your requests about whether or not it's okay to punish someone who cheated.

Define punish?

Punish as in get divorced and sue for alimony? Or punish as in bash in their car with a baseball bat, destroy the cell phone they used to text their lover, or plaster what they did all over facebook and bring it in front of their boss at work.

If it's the divorce thing, then yeah - you can do that as adultery is biblical grounds for a divorce. If it's the other stuff, then no - act like an adult, and don't break the law just because someone has wronged you. Vandalism is a crime, and so is character assassination (you could be sued for libel).

And it's sad you're going through this. God can use the actions of the unrighteous for good, even if it may not seem like it right now, and even if we never understand during our life time.

Thanks Jeff. Actually what happened is i was in a relationship by three months. For the first two weeks he loved me a lot. then after that i was got to know his real face. many times i told him to breakup, but he never let me. He has blackmailed like if u gone i will send our photos to ur family and inform to your family. So without any options i married him. After married only i got to know he has lied me a lot to get marry. Like he doesn't have parents, he has business, etc. all are lies. he has parents, doesn't have any business or any single property.
now i left him and living alone. I wish to spoil his life. Because he spoiled my life, my career, my savings etc. I have to buildup my life from zero. Because of his presence in my life im nothing now.
I was very pet child to my parents. because of this incident im very shameful to face anyone in this world.
I know he is kind of psycho person. without my influence himself will destroy his life. But im worrying much why my life beacme like this.

You're welcome, Ani. :) I don't usually leave it at that and only that, but that verse seemed to sum it all up well enough. All the best to you.

Just act like you don't care about him at all, it's the best policy, that'll hurt him the most and make him realize what he messed up and is missing out on. Pretty soon you'll actually stop caring.

That's not a nice thing to say, Blue. It's also up to Him to judge.

How awful! This is such an egotistical approach. :(

How many times we cheat Jesus by our deeds? Lots. Does He forgives us? Always.
Now why can we do the same? With God'sstrength and love in us, we can forgive them.

If you are watching movies you are cheating so to say someone who cheats on there wife deserves punishment then everyone who watches tv deserves the same punishment. It is the sin we watch that leads us to do it in real life.

To say once you cheat you are always a cheater mean that no one will be forgiven. That go's against Gods teaching. Threw Jesus we can over come our sin. Only threw Jesus you can be forgiven and saved.
