Was there a "mystery", i.e. "secret" that was hid from other generations and revealed to Paul through revelation of Jesus Christ?
Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from
the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I:
and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you, Revelation 21:14 (KJV)
I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works;
I muse on the work of thy hands.
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God?
or with what comparison shall we compare it?
Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations:
ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.
For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age,
and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and
from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been
kept secret from the foundation of the world.
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams,
your young men shall see visions:And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids
in those days will I pour out my spirit.
21Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
23And they waited for me as for the rain;
and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
58This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna,
and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him — the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing?
a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed
Hast thou heard the secret of God?
and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
