If there was anything in the world to cause me to stumble
The world put it before my foot.
If there was anything in the world to discourage me
The world preached it to me for breakfast.
If there was anything in the world to desire
The world put it before my eyes to distract me from my purpose.
If there was anything in the world to snare me
The world set it on my way whenever they heard I was coming.
If there was anything in the world to lie about
The world lied to me about it from the beginning.
If there was anything in the world that should never happen to a man
The world made sure it happened, and then again.

But when the time of judgment has come
The world demanded that I better be perfect.
