I think it's more about mind control, Pumice. I am sharing with two JWs, a neighbour and another guy (and their wives, to a lesser extent). I really like them; they're genuinely nice people. And I feel very sorry for them. They've been seriously hoodwinked.

If Jesus is God like some claim then mary the mother of Jesus gave birth to God.

The Bible tells the reader that Jesus died, if Jesus Christ is God then God died too

If Jesus Christ is God as some do claim and He died then who ressurected Jesus who is God?

Why did Jesus say that there is one greater than himself if He is God?


All this really is about is who's translation of the Holy Scriptures is correct,

If you are serious about a search for truth then let us begin with the credibility of the NWT. I do not know if you have any knowledge of the Greek but I can help you with that.

I never asked that, i mentioned getting one's house in order, you can pull anything out of the magic rabbit hat mate and use skillsets to blind one, seen it all before, why should i take this site seriously if the house claims that Jesus Christ is God then scorns another religion for stating that mary was not the mother of God and yet the house clearly says that Jesus is God, by that account mary is the mother of God, clearly something amiss.

I was responding to post 100. That is you post. I would like to help you see the difference between the NWT and the Greek in some of the texts where the deity of Jesus has been challenged.

No difference all the same message, slightly worded differentley, but, the message is the same, most other bibles concur. It is just YOUR interpretation of scripture.

Yes, I am afraid there is a great deal of difference. The erroneous insertion of the indefinite article in John 1:1 is a prime example as is the distortion of the Greek in Hebrews 1:8. These are deliberate misrepresentations of the Greek for the sole purpose of challenging the deity of Christ.

Again you assert JW's as none Christian yet this house here claims that Jesus Christ is God and yet the holy scriptures can say otherwise, you have also stated again 'the deity of Christ', what does that actually mean? how can you have a God of Christ if what some claim Jesus is God, confusing to me.

What like that Christ was first of God's creations even though Adam was and that Christ died on a stake, not a cross even though he died on a cross which scripture clearly says in black and white.

Oh and that Christ's life was paid as a ransom for obedient humans not for sinners when the bible clearly tells us Christ died for sinners.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

How can you even say otherwise when its written there clearly for you!?

Oh and that Earth will never be destroyed or depopulated yet the bible clearly tells us that it will be destroyed.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Oh and that only a little flock of 144,000 go to heaven and rule with Christ.

Yet the fact is NO JW's will go to Heaven. Not a single one.

There are many who say that the cross has pagan origins, what they say,

The cross is a pagan symbol that was adored in Egypt thousands of years before Jesus was born. In fact wasn't it the roman catholic church that adopted the symbol?,

The cross is a symbol, idol worship

Exodus 20:4
"You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

I am not talking about interpretation, I am talking about translation. There is a big difference. Interpretation is what the WT has done with the creation of the NWT.

Lol what are you talking about man?

The cross is a REAL tool of punishment that was used by the Romans. Two pieces of wood. One a long upright piece. The other a horizontal piece attached to it about 1 third of the way down.

It's called Crucifixion. It was the most gruesome form of punishment.

Exodus 20:4 has nothing to do with crucifixion.

Christ died on a cross not a stake. (Although essentially a cross is stake (one long piece of wood) that has been hammered or entered into a hole in the ground with a horizontal bar across it so that they could nail their hands onto it.

What is a cross? In its simplest definition; a mark, object, or figure formed by two short intersecting lines or pieces (+ or ×).

If you will examine with me the two passages I mentioned from the Greek we can see what the language of the text tells us and not what the NWT or the body of evangelicalism tells. Truth resides solely in the grammatical structure of the text.

You believe Jesus was a God on earth and John 1:1 and you yourself can interpret it that way from NWT if you choose to do so, so i don't see the problem?.

No. I do not believe Jesus was 'A' god from John 1:1. The grammatical structure of the Greek will not allow this. The text simply confirms he is GOD.
