I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this sleep disorder.Unlike its cousin, insomnia , sleep is possible but only at a later interval.
There is a continuum with mild being 2- 3 hours after twelve midnight and moderate, 3 - 4 hours later and severe more than that.
Apparently about 3 in 2000 men or women have this disability and are often labelled by society as lazy or undisciplined due to being unable to maintain a regular sleeping pattern and hence work / study life.

So , in a nutshell...this disorder is chronic disruption in the circadian rhythms of the sufferer.
Here is more info on the topic :

Just wondering if anyone knows of anyone else who has been diagnosed with this and how they have managed to treat it.

Interesting. I do the same thing. I'm not to keen how anything I do that's odd has to have a diagnose name. Ugh :(

This might explain why my mind is so active at night. I mean I can go for hours, getting work done and jogging.

I think I have it. It is downright impossible for me to get to sleep earlier than 11, no matter if I do all the "tricks" to get sleepy.
Even as a child I would spend hours in bed before falling asleep.

Melatonine is a good way to fix it for some. For me, I can take the pills for three days in a row, and have the effect for about a week before it goes back to normal (or abnormal, depending on how you view it :p )

Sleeping disorders are the pits.... I developed insomnia when my 2nd child was born. She is almost two now. It has now transitioned to where i can usually fall asleep pretty decently, but wake up in about 3-4 hours. It is pretty exhausting. Hopefully one day I will get over all this...

I thought I had this. I use to get 5 hours tops. NONE of the popular suggestions ever worked for me.

I tried my own way.
Cutting caffeine 10 hrs before I go to sleep. No food 5 hours before I go to sleep. Working out a hour before I sleep.

.....and when all else fails?
I just read a select few responses in the BDF.

My main problem is that I'm tired from work and I need some spare time to decompress... I really cant just work and sleep, that makes me depressed. So I'm taking this spare time from my sleep time. Which makes me more tired...
Another thing is that I have a compulsion to finish projects when I should sleep - I am super efficient in evening hours. For some reason I dont like doing anything in the morning - I HATE mornings.
I'd probably need to be forcibly injected with some drugs to cause me to sleep earlier.

You know,.... I think all creative people have a hard time sleeping?

Maby what has bothered me all my life?
I will fall asleep, but my mind remains wide awake, aware of everything around me, and thoughts continue.
I often would not finally reach deep sleep untill 4 or 5am, then need to sleep until noon in order to get any rest.
Thankfully my kids are grown now, as it was a true struggle for me when they were young.
Also, my dr has treated me with a mild sleep aid for 15 yrs now, I also have found valairien to be very helpful.

God bless

there's nothing new under the sun, including sleep disorders. (maybe 136,000 new chemicals, that didn't exist in the Garden of Eden, or anytime before 150 years ago... but that's another topic.... or is it? chemicals in the environment, food, water, air and drugs all affect many people's sleep)

in the BIBLE , though, (and since this site is a 'christian' site)

there are many promises from God the Creator, including sleep and rest and peace and joy and freedom from all disorders, no matter what the cause.

they are not popular (Scriptural Answers) today (if ever they were, only with people who trust God),

because they cannot be patented.(profited from, usually)

but God's Word is always true. God is always Faithful and He can always be trusted.

p.s. the TORAH says yahweh gives his beloved rest. throughout history, this has been a sure sign of his presence in someone's life.

as it is written in OT and NT.

not just peace, incomprehensible peace to the world, joyousness over flowing from within every day in all circumstances (with sorrow and grieving times as well),
and righteousness now today before yahweh through faithful abiding in yahshua hamashiach (jesus messiah lord and king)
are all freely and generously given by yahweh to all who live in HIM.....

confusion and turmoil, headaches and stress, anxiety and many other not-at-ease conditions today are considered 'normal', because they happen so often, so routinely in life today in society, and because so many people are on medication for various sundry diagnoses(most of them inaccurate, statistically and profitably).

Jeff, I think you're generalizing too much. You do not have insight into every individual case and you can come across as very condemning with that post, no matter how well meaning. There are various legitimate circumstances for sleep disturbance.
I dont think it's a sin to want to set apart time for fellowship with other believers, work on worship music, and spend time with God and in the Bible. I take away the time for that from my rest time because my job exhausts me but I have no choice. Sorry if you want to call that sin and unbiblical.
Somebody is forced to work night shift or the employers change their shifts constantly. It's not all roses, and not everywhere the conditions at work are American. Some people are poor, too... thanks for understanding to whoever has understanding.
Why everything has to be tearing down on this forum, and on every topic a cause for condemnation must be found.

I wouldn't worry, Jeff can't help it SW.
Speaking of......I think he has caught something?

He has:
The "Everybody is a heretic, I'm feeling self-righteous, so I'm gonna go around bashing and correcting everyone and everything, with smug, condescending posts, because I'm so fed up with all of the heresy going on here, yet, I stay on CC, even though it angers me, .....but?....I will disappear for 5 days and then come back, be nice, and have to clean up my mess, that is, if I don't get banned first" bug.

It hasn't been classified as an official sickness yet,
.............but I believe we all have come down with a form (or symptoms) of it, at one time?

It's been making its rounds pretty bad lately, so stay clear, you might catch it.
I'd just ignore him.

Hope you feel better Jeff.
Push through, Sir.

Reborn,

such a wonderful witness - nothing like reading a shared 'tried & true' -:)

I know that one of satan's tactics is to create ways for us to be 'sleep-deprived' -
for it affects the very core of our existence and well-being as we journey.

it has taken many years and much hard work in denying my own selfish 'wants/desires' -
the 'over-coming' daily, of long loved old 'things/habits' has never been easy for me
because of my past 'self-will'/personal survival techniques.....

my wife and I are over the 'hump' though it's not been fun or easy -
but the struggles and tests for what we now reap are truly amazing!

What is the dosage you take? I heard/read some take 10 mg, but is too much and it doesnt work. Others respond quite well to 1 mg?

nobody is required to believe God's WORD.

nobody is required to seek and to find the honest doctors either.

most people never bother, and just go on in their delusion with the rest of society.

since this is what is written in Scripture, those who become aware may benefit greatly.

even those who don't become aware can still benefit greatly, if yahweh shows them mercy, and it's simple
-- just because he wants to.

let's see now, how many honest people were on earth in 2330 B.C. ? (at most 8, according to TORAH).

and who was it said these days we are in will be like those days ? (yahshua, according to himself)

yahshua also said reborn(and others acting like her/him/it(if a bot)) would act just like (he,she/it(if a bot)) acts, and still mercy is preferred (yahweh willing, if possible) >

so reborn, you are by yahweh's WORD rebuked, take heed to yourself and repent forthwith,
and you will be forgiven. >>

[SUP]"Luke 17 kjv 3 [/SUP]Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him...."

SoulWeaver,,,, if you are, as expected, seeking the Truth in Yahshua, you will find it. I'm not sure what you think is sin or unbiblical,
but the trouble with sleep and rest, just like the trouble with cancer and migraines and colds and arthritis and diabetes,
is because of lack of knowledge, and it may not matter at all if something is sin or unbliblical in regards to the way the body works. (some people who are great sinners have great health, because either they do what their body needs (on purpose or accidentally) or just because of yahweh's mercy).

see RoboOp's threads in the health area for some more info with a Scriptural View instead of worldly.
