If I understand what you are trying to do, I think you need to poke the button in the upper right corner that says restore down when you hover over it. Then your resize arrows should work. It is the button next to the x.

Willie, When I used Windows 7, I just maximize it and when I close out of it in maximized screen it automatically opens that way for me. The steps should be the same but have the opposite effect for both of you. At least that is how mine works, hope this helps.

that's what was wrong. The minimize/maximize buttons weren't showing, and the resize buttons wouldn't work. I got it figured out though. The user ntw told me what command to use to make it resize and it worked. Thanks for your reply, though. :)

First you're breaking Flash in every browser but Opera, and now you're breaking window resize options. *shakes head disapprovingly*

Nope. That's the way it always has worked for years. Now it doesn't matter what size you open a new window to, when you close the browser, and reopen it, the very same smaller size keeps returning.
 
Well, I've asked no less than 50 people about this, and no one has an answer that works.

Did you try this?

An alternative to that is to use Ccleaner and check the option for "Windows Size/Location cache" (under Advanced). Once it's selected, click on "Run Cleaner," then test your window(s) again.

I have ccleaner and i use it alot..especially after uninstalling a program.. also it gets rid of cookies that my N-360 doesn't find.. :)

Good! It's a fine program. :) Revo Uninstaller is good for removing programs also.

There are other steps you can take such as, using Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter programs, or going into your power options and selecting the power plan for best performance over best appearance. You could use msconfig take programs off of start up, be sure not to take anything from the graphix, mouse, audio, or other necessary drivers, just mainly programs. Also, there are some services you can change to start manually. And maybe if you're using a free anti-virus use something like avast which doesn't bog down your computer if you use it.

dont use avast! the free version slowed down my lightning-fast computer to a virtual crawl, to where it just barely worked.. I uninstalled it and reinstalled my Norton 360.
 
I've been trying to cut back on power consumption, and now my computer won't work.

Do you think it needs electricity EVERY time it's on?

Lol, au contraire, at least from my experience. That sounds odd, though I know on OS like vista I've had issues where avast would render the internet useless, yet I didn't know it was avast at first so it was a long and tedious process rooting out the possibilities. Hmm, I disdain norton and macafee. Perhaps one day I will try out 360 to see if they've improved any.
