I have three kids, ages 26(son) - 20(daughter) and 12(son)
Eldest son has recently got married and was a virgin until then (whew!..one down..two to go)
My daughter is a virgin as well and it looks like she will stay that way till she is married (please Lord!)
I am extremely proud of them for choosing to abstain from premarital sex.

Now my youngest son is at the age where he is seeing girls in a whole new light, a little while back at school, a male teacher was talking to them about aids and STD's and he said to them that they must rather masturbate than have sex. I found this rather disturbing as by saying this to these kids it basically is giving them permission to masturbate and that it is a natural, normal thing and nothing is wrong with it. I have tried to talk to him and teach him that it is not alright, but have caught him and his friend twice doing this.
What this teacher has done I feel is totally wrong and this is what is being fed to our kids at school.
These kids look up to their teaches and believe in everything they say.

My question is how would you go about undoing the seed that has been planted in these young minds?

its a problem, i was in a youth fellowship where the youth leader said the same stuff

you and your son doing it TOGETHER????

first thing is, anyone has to decide for themselves that it is wrong

I'd think if masturbation was a sin, it would have been mentioned by name in the Bible as a sin. I mean this isn't exactly invented after the Bible was written like say a TV has been. Anyway, as for me it's been a life saver for keeping me away from porn. Which I did have a problem with(Not really sure about nowadays though it's been about 4 weeks ago, and before that it was like 15 weeks ago.) I'm glad God has for the most part gotten rid of this part of my life. ^_^ But yeah, I think masturbation should be an alone activity unless you’re married then it should it should only be with your husband/wife. Though it's not really called masturbation then.

Btw, I am a virgin.

I don't think teachers should be advising teenagers to masturbate or do anything else, whatever they personally think, to me that is going one step beyond your mandate as a teacher and assuming the role of advisor.

In theory I do not disagree with teenagers being taught about STD's and other related issues as most won't feel comfortable getting that information from their parents, but I think it is dangerous for a teacher to decide for themselves what they think is right and pass that along to students, a teacher should present the information and then clarify, nothing else, so I think you're right to be disturbed.

As for dealing with it, thinking back to myself at that age and my struggles with masturbation, at 12 years old I was discovering my body and my sexuality and a lot of what I did was out of instinct and natural drive, whatever anybody said I think I would have done it anyway, it is extremely powerful at that age.

I can't comment at all from a parents side but I think all you can do is continue to offer support as you have been doing and try to make sure your son does not continue recieving a mixed message, for all the unavoidable confusion present at this time of life having two recognised authorites saying different things will only make it even harder, so maybe keep checks on what the school is saying and try and keep them from contradicting what you are trying to teach, but maybe also consider that for some people this is a part of growing and he may well continue doing it regardless of what anyone tells him, as he grows older and more mature this is one of many struggles he will have to overcome by himself.

It's called common sense. When you gratify yourself sexually do you think of astronauts walking on the moon? Or going deer hunting? Or working on your car? Obviously not. It's fornication at best, and lewdness at least. Most people I've talked to always feel dirty when they do it, which means there is something in us that says it's not something to be doing. If a person don't have that, they've probably deadened it.


Look up the book Every Man's Battle, Every Young Man's Battle, depending on whether or not you're a kid or an adult.

That example was more than likely made for a kleptomaniac(or just normal stealing). Or atleast that's the 1st thing I think of whenever I see that verse.

live what you are teaching before them because they will be more likely to respect you and learn what a natural sex life is and what good things it can bring. most kids experiement with something when they are young, if not this, then it is drugs or cigarettes or alchohol and most times it is not life threatening. explain how happy his future wife will be that he abstained from this type of behavior. maybe find some other activity that brings him the same enjoyment and stimulates the same things in the brain

The wife hath not power of her own body but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 1 Corinthians 7:4

I don't know how much more clear it could be than that.

In Corinthians 7:2 it says to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife. It dosen't say to avoid fornication let every man masterbate.

I havent always been perfect, but we need to confess our sin, not accept it.

Nothing wrong with pleasure..I enjoy my life as a Christian!


..but Christ taught the dangers of those sins, like stink bomb that corrupt our lives and sully our minds.

Let me put it this way. The only times I've feel convicted for doing it was because I was looking at porn that the time. Now that I don't at it anymore, I don't feel convicted anymore.

There are people that don't feel convicted about being gay. Does that mean that it is ok?
