I will add...the high priesthood does not have inheritance in the land.

Maybe we should understand this about the priesthood of God, make the connection between these two verses.
:-)
#1: Isaiah 66:21-"And I will select some of them also to be priests*and Levites," says the LORD."
#2: *1st Peter 2:9-"But you are a chosen people,*a royal priesthood,*a holy nation,*a people belonging to God,*that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."*

Now I wonder why Peter called those faithful elect chosen by the Father, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION?

Rhetorical question of course. ;-)

The point of my question is this:
Jesus called us the lost sheep of ISRAEL.

The new Covenant is for the HOUSE of ISRAEL.

JEREMIAH 31: 33*"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,"

Paul says: No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart,*by the Spirit,*not by the written code.", & "In him you were also circumcised,*in the putting off of the sinful nature,*not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ."

The prodigal son in a foreign country, was not merely a parable of a son going anywhere on Earth. It describes those God foreknew, returning to him, meaning they were there at one point in time, for those God foreknew, he also predestined.
Jesus said he was sent from above to find that which was lost to take us home again. Meaning "for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world."

Think of it like this, to make it home, one must know where one came from, period. And if our home is above, what must that mean?

Like this: you have Oklahoma above Texas. Say a man was leaving home, he left Oklahoma and he went to a completely different state, he went south to Texas. But while he was in a foreign state, the laws of that place and the actions of others steered him away, and led him into a terrible accident, he forgot where he came from a long the way. But say this man's brother came to Texas to find his lost brother. He told everyone he was from above and the laws of this place didn't apply to him. But they hated him, they could not understand what he was saying because his laws and speech were foreign to them. But he found his brother, and his brother remembered suddenly where he was from, he remembered his daddy's rules and the laws of his state. Well soon all this guy's buddies who led him into all this trouble started to dislike him too. The Lost man started talking like the guy from above in Oklahoma. But the man that found the lost brother, well he went back home, his work was complete and told the lost brother he had to stay, cause there may be others that these crazy guys from below had led away, and he told the brother not to be afraid of all the wild people, while he was here the laws of the foreign country wouldn't apply to him because he would be an ambassador now, and every ambassador is governed by the laws of his own country while in this foreign place, so do not be afraid, he would have diplomatic immunity.
If the man from above had to come below to find that brother that had wondered away, doesn't that mean they are both from the same place? You think both brothers foreknew each other before coming to the wild foreign place?
You see the one wild child was lost, he had forgot the laws of his home or even how to get back to that place.

To be the Lost sheep of Israel, of the heavenly one, well that's just deep. Not all scripture is about earthly things, Isaiah 54 is about the heavenly Jerusalem, but they still call it Zion. The new covenant is for us, but God says its for the house of Israel, but we fail to look at that and remember there's two houses of Israel, one above, one below, they are both called the same thing, and this is why it's important to understand, our citizenship is in heaven.
And that is the house of Israel, and those members have been circumcised in heart, washed clean, all done by the hands of Christ. Such a thing makes a person a member or the heavenly Jerusalem as Paul says: Such a man's praise comes not from men but God.

Ummmm...Jesus sent his disciples unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel...that being the Jewish people of his day first as his ministry was unto the Jewish nation as a whole.....Paul was the one sent specifically unto the Gentiles by Christ and we being Gentiles have been grafted into the promises made unto Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and in so doing have brought both Jews and Gentiles under the banner of the Faith of Abraham and we BOTH are a new creation in Christ JESUS.....and of the SEED and STOCK of ABRAHAM by faith.........

Da 12:2-4
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
KJV

Daniel was told that his prophesy was not for his time.

Evidence that Isaiah did not understand his own prophesy is seen in the fact that reference to the first and second coming of Jesus are sometimes mixed in the same verse and often in the same chapter

Marc you missed what the Angel told Daniel to do. He told Daniel to keep the meaning hidden until the end. Not that Daniel didn't know it, indeed the very reason the Angel came to Daniel was to EXPLAIN THE MEANING OF THE DREAM. Daniel knew the meaning, he was told: "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end."
"It was REVEALED to them that they were not serving themselves but you".

I think I agree with the OP, or at least have a similar view of the Church and Israel.
The only distinction between the two is a physical one, which is done away with through Christ, and soon to be gone entirely.

The understanding you have is not new or unheard-of. In fact, the opposing view, though very popular in America, is very new and only spread by American Seminaries with a scholastic approach to interpreting Scripture.

The Church does not replace Israel. The Church is united with Israel, ingrafted, and as a continuation of it.
The genetic line of Israel is fulfilled in Christ. By being united with Christ, we become part of that lineage.

Yeah I've come to learn that somewhere along the way they labeled this understanding as replacement theology. It was supposedly introduced by someone and from that spread throughout the church. Like this one guys revelation was the reason everyone felt this way.
Funny thing is, I'd never even heard anyone say what I was discovering in scripture, nor did I have any idea who whatever his name was who supposedly introduced it.
Replacement theology...LOL, is always think of the grafting of the branches when people say that. Branches were removed so we could be grafted in. If something was removed so something else could take that place, was not the original replaced by what was grafted in?
So that once empty spot was replaced by something else, yes indeed. People lost focus on what the true point about Israel being cast off was, as if Israel WAS THE WAY, and that's what Paul was saying. Israel was not the support that fed the tree, Christ was, whom they had lost sight of. The only way they can be called the heavenly Israel, and the Jewish members to that place, is by staying in Christ, he is the king of the HEAVENLY JEWS, where his kingdom is from, and to be called that is an honor, as Paul states in what makes a man a Jew "that such a man's praise comes not from men but God".
The whole point of the faith, was it didn't matter what or who they thought their chosen status was. If it did they would have never been removed from the tree in the first place.
I have no problem with the earthly Israel at all, Scripture clearly says God will not reject them forever, they can be grafted back in. They just have to come around to Daddy's way of thinking, that's all.
"I will make them envious by those who are not a people" is what Moses sang in his song to ISRAEL thousands of years ago.
That's what's fulfilled in us as the true church. Christ supports the whole family, Israel supported nothing. If Israel was the support, the individual branches would have never been cast off, withering away on the ground. And yes those empty spots were replaced by us, but we are not foreign from the family once that happened. Once you graft something it takes just as much a hold of the tree as the original, and the roots deliver nourishment to all the branches, just the same.
Make no mistake, I am in no way, shape, or form boasting over the earthly Israel. I'm just saying what the scripture says happened. Thanks for the support, God bless.

No sir, the new covenant specifically states that it is for the house of Israel, period. Find me another name that covenant is for. And as that covenant states, we have forgiveness and his laws written in our hearts, and now we are his people, it is only through Christ the mediator that anyone receives that covenant. The covenant is for the HOUSE of Israel, but you forget which HOUSE OF ISRAEL JESUS SAID HE WAS FROM, from the one above or below, and which kingdom is he talking about taking us to? Which is exactly why Paul made part of his ministry trying to explain what made a man a JEW. That it was not a birth in a specific place, or an appearance, or even circumcision of the flesh. A man is a Jew if he is one inwardly, circumcised in his heart, recognized by the putting off of the sinful nature, all done by the hands of Christ.
JESUS was speaking of the Heavenly Israel where his kingdom is from. "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but*fellow citizens*with God's people and members of God's household," this household was not the earthly one, as Hebrews states "But you have come to Mount Zion,*to the heavenly Jerusalem,*the city*of the living God.You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,*
*to the church of the firstborn,*whose names are written in heaven.*You have come to God, the judge of all men,*to the spirits of righteous men made perfect,*to Jesus the mediator*of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood*that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel."
You are confusing God's household as being an earthly thing. It's not. Because of sin, the whole world are gentiles to the heavenly Jerusalem, excluded from that citizenship, unless they come to Christ and are welcomed in, receiving a new name and a new covenant as a binding contract, through Christ's blood she'd on the cross.
The household of God is not the Israel of this earth, Jesus very clearly said he was sent from above to find the lost members of that place that he came from, so that he could take them back home, where his kingdom is from.

Matthew 28:19 NIV
19-"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"
You see his disciples are scattered all over the face of the earth, not just a lost Israeli, they were told to find his people everywhere.

This should tell you exactly who the lost sheep were, for Jesus came to fulfill this:
Ezekiel 34:10-I will rescue*my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.*

11*" 'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep*and look after them.*

12*As a shepherd*looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.*

13*I will bring them out from the nations and gatherthem from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land.*I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.*

14*I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel*will be their grazing land.*

Did you notice verse 12, he said he would rescue his flock on a day of clouds and darkness...Now go to Matthew 24 and see the darkness described at the time of his coming. The only flock ever prophesied about being rescued from all the places is the Lost Flock of Israel, and when he gathers us from all the nations, he's taking us home, to the heavenly Israel, to be pastured in fields unimaginable. Set your mind on things above man. Abraham was looking forward to a heavenly home, not one that got his feet dusty.

So who is the lost sheep of Israel Jesus said he was sent for and fulfills prophecy?
"As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness."
"Immediately after the distress of those days " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'*
"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn.*They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky,*with power and great glory.*And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call,*and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other."
You see Jesus never considered those who believe in him to be outsiders, he was only here for the Lost Sheep of Israel. He did say to go rather to the lost sheep of Israel yes, but he told the same ones to "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"*so we must be able to draw a complete picture from everything he said combined.
For me it's very simple, Jesus came to fulfill prophecy. The only way, AND I MEAN THE ONLY WAY, Ezekiel 34:12 is fulfilled, is on the day of darkness in Matthew 24, right before he sends his angels out to gather the elect from all over the earth.
And if the whole prophecy of Ezekiel 34 is about a shepherd finding and caring and rescuing his sheep, and it doesn't happen until the day of darkness in Matthew 24, then the only ones the lost flock of Ezekiel 34 could be are his faithful elect waiting for his return. It's that simple.

Maybe these verses will help to keep in mind the fact that the adopted priesthood is a spiritual house...lively stones...and is homeless as long as we have earthen vessels which are made of corruptible old earth. In other words...until our earthen vessels are in heaven as well as our soul/spirit/heart/strength...then we are not home...and so we...the peculiar people should speak according to who we really are at least among ourselves...and confess...we are from above...and this stuff is not ours but a tool given US, so that WE, can glorify God as a peculiar people not from here...the adopted high priesthood from God (that is where we came from, and so we should conduct ourselves accordingly).

Galatians 4:25-27Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

25*For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26*But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27*For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

Galatians 3:27-29Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

27*For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28*There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29*And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Colossians 3:9-12Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

9*Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10*and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11*where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

12*Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

There are a few ways a person can take this understanding: Reformed Theology, Hebrew Roots (spiritual), Hebrew Roots (physical), Universalism, Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxism, or even Arminean/Wesleyanism.

Basicly, the only people who will disagree with you about the Church and Israel being made into one... are the Dispensationalists.
You are likely surrounded by them, thus not having heard of such things before.

Most of my local congregation hold to dispensationalism. It's not really THAT bad. They just miss out on some of the depth of the OT, and how it applies to the Church.

What you have to look into is: how does this revelation affect me and my relationship with God?
It's good stuff,
but in answering the question, you'll be reminded that it is also not an essential.

I can't remember for sure they( they prophets and believers of the OLD Testemant I can'y remember where...maybe Heb. But it said that the prophets and believers of the old ,sould not be made perfect without us, those to whom the gospel has come. In other words ew are the fulfill ment of there prophesies or rather Jesus is the fulfillment unto the inwelling HS and the sonshipof God chidren. the old was a type and symbol of what should come. They of the Old confess that they were stranger and pilgrims and had no abiding city here and were slain sawed asunder persecuted. Moses determined the suffering o Christ greater rich than the son of Pharoh. Hope this helps
Wow,very good my friend.
They, the patriarchs never saw the promise. It had a level of mystery. We,on the other hand have the full revelation as the messiah is revealed to us,as is his gospel, and the end fufillment, which will be establised in the millineum with David's throne.

uh,no. I am a "dispensationalist" as you say,and understand fully the church and israel. There is a overlapping of both, but 2 separate covenants.

You replacement pple are "going somewhere" with all the talk I hear. Its like when we get to the "what isn'ts" we find out the things that are lingering, leading to the cat and mouse style that always leaves folks guessing and not really knowing if we agree or not.

2 covenants,2 peoples,some overlapping.
I suppose the question is: how many Covenants are there today? How many result in salvation?

ALL unbelievers are under the Old Covenant, not just the Jews.

Again, I am not a "replacement person". I don't believe that the Church replaced Israel.
Instead, I believe that Israel was always the Church, and remains so to this day.

I see that there was a conditional Covenant, the conditions of which were broken by men,
therefore God made a New Covenant which could not be broken by men.

There is only one Vine, and one Salvation. If Israel had/has salvation, then it was/is the same one that we have: by Grace, through Faith, not of works.

You see, all of Israel will be saved,
but not all who claim to be Israel are truly of Israel,
just as, not all who claim to be children of Abraham are truly children of Abraham.

Genetics was never the mechanism behind election. The children spoken of in the Promises were not by flesh, but by faith. We are not false sons and daughters, but true. Peter makes this very clear.

Israel isn't replaced.
Romans 11:16-32 (KJV) [SUP]16 [/SUP]For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. [SUP]17 [/SUP]And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; [SUP]18 [/SUP]Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: [SUP]21 [/SUP]For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. [SUP]22 [/SUP]Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. [SUP]23 [/SUP]And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. [SUP]24 [/SUP]For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? [SUP]25 [/SUP]For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. [SUP]26 [/SUP]And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: [SUP]27[/SUP]For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. [SUP]28 [/SUP]As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. [SUP]29 [/SUP]For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. [SUP]30 [/SUP]For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: [SUP]31 [/SUP]Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. [SUP]32 [/SUP]For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

And let's not forget there's evidence in scripture that says at least 144,000 of them will be saved.:)

Ok, this is my first thread so hello to all, and thanks before hand to you who may reply.

This is the revelation I had a while ago, and have been helped by it deeply, but am realizing not many people see this. So please tell me I'm not "out there" for asking this question.
So here is the verse I was reading when it happened:

1st Peter 1:10- "Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow."

Ok, this letter was addressed to God's elect "who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood", so all of us in Christ. Peter states that the prophets who predicted Christ's sufferings, were prophesying of the grace that comes to us who believe in Jesus. The only prophets he was talking about who could have predicted Christ's sufferings, had to be before Christ came, and were the prophets who wrote the scripture they had at that time, essentially the Old Testament.
So here is the revelation I had and the question I want to ask you all:
If the Old Testament prophets we're speaking of the salvation that the body of Christ are receiving, what were they addressing us as??
Look back at the scripture and read it again carefully and see if you see what I'm saying. Like I said, this occurred to me about 3 years ago, so I have been looking into it for a while now and have figured it out to my satisfaction, but I have come to learn that this hasn't really occurred to alot of people, or may not even see it that way all together.
I can give all of you a hint tho of what answer has satisfied me, it has everything to do with Hebrews saying we have come to Mt. Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem, and it also has everything to do with Jesus saying he was sent only for the "Lost sheep of Israel".
God bless, and please answer the question: If the prophets who predicted Christ's coming spoke of our grace in Christ, who wrote the scriptures they had at that time, (Isaiah, Jeremiah, all the ones Paul and Jesus and Peter quoted all over the place), were talking about our salvation, what were they addressing us as?

'Gentiles', commonly used in the New Testament/Covenant.

And as spoken by the Prophet of the 'Old', that, 'the MESSIAH will be handed over to the Gentiles'.

Paul said there is neither JEW nor GENTILE as we are a NEW CREATION in Christ JESUS....I suggest the word of God instead of comic books and fairly tale land!

Wow thanks for the cynicism. That's exactly the point I'm making, read the whole thing. It doesn't matter who you are, in Christ, we become the 1 Israel of God for whom the covenant and promise is for, it's for no one else. We are the Lost Sheep of the Heavenly Israel. Anyone who comes to Christ is the flock he will rescue on the day of darkness as prophesied in Ezekiel 34:12. Like is said, Find me another name the covenant is said it's for, that's not fairy tale, it's exactly what the scripture says: This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time. So in Christ we become a piece of the same tree. Thank you for making my point.

And Paul also said what really makes a man qualified for this covenant, and guess what he called them.....
Yes Paul does say that, but he also calls for the Israel of God and spent some of his ministry trying to explain to those of his day who that was, for people who couldn't understand from the only scripture they had at that time, what it took to receive that praise, because according to scripture, Paul says to receive that classification is a Praise from God almighty himself. He was also explaining how the Jeremiah scripture that he said we fulfill, applied to the body of Christ, he was saying you ARE Abraham's seed, you are the House Jeremiah was prophesying about, you are the promise, all this stuff from the OT you see it really is fulfilled through Christ and written for you, for you are now qualified. You are not born into such honor, in Christ, that name and praise is bestowed upon you by God himself.
Romans 2:29- No,*a man is a Jew*if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.

Colossians 2:11-In him you were also circumcised,*in the putting off of the sinful nature,*not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ.
All of this is a praise from God, and these are now under the new covenant. My whole point to this is that there are those who claim this covenant is for the old school Israel, and hasn't happened yet.
YOU AND ME are saying the same thing man. In Christ, we become grafted into the tree, from who the family derives it's name in the first place. This qualifies us to receive the new covenant of which GOD, not me, called them a certain house.
Even Isaiah prophesied about people taking the name. Now who else would want to take the name of Israel, because it's prophesied, and scripturally sound.
Isaiah 44:3*-For I will pour water*on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;*I will pour out my Spirit*on your offspring, and my blessing*on your descendants.*4*They will spring up like grass*in a meadow, like poplar trees*by flowing streams.*5 One will say, 'I belong*to the LORD'; another will call himself by the name of Jacob; still another will write on his hand,*'The LORD's,'*and will take the name Israel.

And WILL TAKE THE NAME ISRAEL,We are the thirsty, we are the offspring the spirit is poured out upon. We do belong to the Lord, we are no longer foreigners, but fellow citizens, we are the Israel of God, we are Abraham's true descendants and for who the reckoning and the Promised land is truly for.
