So you will take the authority of a church that gives false history when real history is out there to be read, and from a church that bends and twists scripture, and even has had a couple of popes who have made statements that what they say is to be followed rather it contradicts scripture.

I just came from Mass and we had readings and the Homily on the Holy Spirit. As usual you are ignorant of what the Scripture means. Anyone can in fact SAY 'Jesus is Lord.' Thus Jesus said that many would call Him 'Lord, Lord' who did not have the Holy Spirit. SAYING Jesus is Lord proves nothing.

The verse you are referring to was in reference to inspired prophecy or speaking in tongues which was interpreted (see the context). It was when men appeared to be speaking 'in the Spirit' that they were to be tested by the content of their message. (In Corinth some form of 'tongues' was also spoken in idolatrous Temples). Those whose inspiration came from Satan would NEVER say Jesus is Lord. Satan would never say that even in pretence. Thus when a man speaking 'in the Spirit' said Jesus is Lord it indicated that his message was from a godly source.

It does not mean that someone who says Jesus is Lord in the ordinary course of life is necessarily speaking by the Spirit. As Jesus said, some would do so who were nevertheless lost.

Today, I got, and I suspect many openly Catholic members of CC got a private message about how we were to be judged by God and how demons would enter into our family members. The person was apparently banned, but I've gotten harassed on PM by two different accounts through private messaging and I've heard from others that it has happened to them. Truly, I believe that most, if not all of you, would not stoop this low. But when someone does, it makes it all the more difficult not to take personally anything else. So, I would ask that we stop arguing for at least ONE day.

The Scriptures ARE the authority. We have GOD's authority. Not that of an 8th century secessionist sect. Has it struck you that yours is one of the 27 churches which 'claim to have the truth'?

Which Roman Catholic church are we to listen to? The one in North America? The one in South America? The one in Indonesia? And so on. They all differ in doctrine even though you try to hide the fact.

But most Protestant churches do not see themselves as the 'only ones that have the truth'. They agree with each other and only differ on secondary matters. But NONE of them try to put their church before the Scriptures. ALL acknowledge that the Scriptures are the final source of truth, just like the early church did..

When we are born our spirits enter into the body which we use. We know that the body and life are conceived by the union of sperm and egg. How and where our spirit comes from we do not know apart from the fact that it comes from God. It is clearly not a product of flesh and blood, otherwise it would not be spirit. Thus is produced one man, body, soul and spirit. Let us not pretend that we (or scientists)understand the mysteries of human conception, for we do not..
