Gen 4:5~~New American Standard Bible
but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell.

If Cain was not proud and confident about his offering to the Lord. Why would He be angry?

And does a immoral, overtly wicked person who hates God, bring an offering to the Lord?

Human good is evil to God. It looks good to us, but it is evil to God.

Sorry, that does not prove by scripture the claims you made here about Cain killing Abel....

Cain was good. Just that it was human good(evil) and Cain worked his butt off to offer an offering that was from his OWN hands.

Abel offered the right offering.

Cain killed Abel because of religion. He was a moral degenerate, not a immoral degenerate." [end quote]

Abels offering was by faith

Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

And faith works by love, he being a keeper of sheep, even as Jesus lays down his life for the sheep (being also a good sheperd

Cain kills Abel in the course of time, and these are the ones held accountable for the same

Luke 11:50
That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

Luke 11:51
From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

Same, words of the wicked lying in wait for his blood here

Luke 11:54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

The conflict is in the midst of religious sphere of things

Why was Cain's offering condemned? Because he did that which was not commanded of him and did his own thing. Whenever I say to folks that they have to follow Jesus and obey his commands and walk righteously, they scoff as if it is not a requirement. They got their ticket to Heaven and they can now sip pinneapple drinks on some tropical island and not lift a finger for God for the rest of their life. They are trying to do their own thing that is contrary to the word of the Lord... just like Cain. The Story of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4 is the first place we see a Biblical cult take place. OSAS is a Biblical cult because it takes verses and twists them to it's own end so as to justify one in living unrighteously. But nowhere does the Bible ever teach that you can sin and still be saved (Whether it be a little bit of sin or a lot sin). For would not a father be guilty if he let his son get away with certain crimes? Why do you think it is different with God. Do you think God the Father is going to just let His people get away with them in doing evil? Would not God allowing them to get away with evil reflect badly upon the character of God and His goodness?

Oh, and Cain was a bad guy (Just in case anyone else here wants to know the truth). For good guys do not kill their own brothers in cold blood. That is the point of 1 John 3:15.

I mean, folks here make it sound like serving the Lord is dirty and bad.

But Jesus says, why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not what I say? Who is your Master? Is it yourself? Or is it God? Choose this day in whom ye will serve. For Jesus says you cannot serve two masters.

Yes, and the generation that shall be guilty of all the blood of the slain on the earth is the wicked generation, whom also Cain belonged to, who are of "that Wicked."

Matthew 12:45
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

It is my hope that someone who believes in a sin and still be saved doctrine will read these verses and come to the knowledge of the truth. I do so hope that so very much. Sometimes it is difficult loving when all you receive back is hate. It is grieving to one's spirit who seeks and strives to walk in God's good ways. But we must press on towards the mark and the goal who is Jesus Christ. For He deserves all the glory, honor, and power. For it is His righteousness within us that flows and it is nothing in and of ourselves.

Anyways, I appreciate your studies Desired Haven. Keep up the good work.

Cain was evil(scribe, pharisee). Up until he killed Abel, No one feared him. He was not overtly wicked. Abel obviously did not fear him. If Cain was overtly wicked and had horns and a forked tongue, Abel would have never went out in the field with him to "fellowship."

New International Version
Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

New Living Translation
One day Cain suggested to his brother, "Let's go out into the fields." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him.

English Standard Version
Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.

New American Standard Bible
Cain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

Cain was a pharisee, Abel was a grace believer.

No. Cain was a murderer; And we know no murderer has eternal life abiding in them (1 John 3:15).

Also, in the book of Jude we learn about certain "brute beasts" who are plucked up by the roots and twice dead (who are related to Cain).

"...brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; (Jude 1:10-12).

So yeah, Cain was not a good guy.

We all know Cain was murderer. What was His motive behind that murder?

The scribes and the pharisees were the most moral people around. Why did they want to kill Christ?

You do that very well Jason, and I really thank God for your example in that because it isnt something you see everyday, but it was just a good thing (even a necessary thing for me) to have an example of it in conversations as you have been

God bless you Jason, the peace of Christ be with you

Thanks for the encouragement

I think you find by Jesus' words the majority of the Pharisees were HYPOCRITES, blind guides, whited walls, brood of vipers, serpents, etc.

Is a life without sinning possible?

Theoretically possible? Yes.
Practically speaking has anyone done it? No...except One.

Rom 3:31?

we can always lower the bar of the Law to the point of our own performance. :(

Jesus shows his word had no place in them

John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.

Their traditions come before the commandment of God

Mark 7:3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.

Full well rejecting it

Mark 7:9 And he said unto them,Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Make the word of God of none effect

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

As Paul said (who was a former Pharisee) they are more exceedly zealous of the traditions their fathers

Gal 1:14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

These are not after Christ

Col 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Jesus disciples will trangress these

Mat 15:2
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

They transgress the commandment of God by their traditions

Mat 15:3
But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Exactly. And that is what Cain Is. Moral degeneracy(religion) is what murdered Abel. They looked good on the outside(human good) but they were devoid of divine good on the inside.

Cain and the pharisees brought their offerings to God. But it was all by the power of the flesh and their own self righteousness. They were proud and arrogant of their own righteousness, so they killed Grace(Christ)

So I guess you might want to retract your statement earlier that "Cain was good" then eh? I mean seeing he was a murderer and also of that Wicked and all. :)

No. Cain was good and evil.

Why do you suppose good and evil were on the SAME tree?

Even in your good works, it's muddled with your sin nature - my righteousness is in Heaven, and it's an eternal righteousness
