Genesis 2:5-25

5 [/SUP]Now no shrub of the field was yet in the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to [SUP][c][/SUP]cultivate the ground. [SUP]6 [/SUP]But a [SUP][d][/SUP]mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole [SUP][e][/SUP]surface of the ground. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living [SUP][f][/SUP]being. [SUP]8 [/SUP]The Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Now a river [SUP][g][/SUP]flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four [SUP][h][/SUP]rivers. [SUP]11 [/SUP]The name of the first is Pishon; it [SUP][/SUP]flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. [SUP]12 [/SUP]The gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there. [SUP]13 [/SUP]The name of the second river is Gihon; it [SUP][j][/SUP]flows around the whole land of Cush. [SUP]14 [/SUP]The name of the third river is [SUP][k][/SUP]Tigris; it [SUP][l][/SUP]flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the [SUP][m][/SUP]Euphrates.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. [SUP]16 [/SUP]The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; [SUP]17 [/SUP]but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not [SUP][n][/SUP]eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [SUP][o][/SUP]suitable for him.” [SUP]19 [/SUP]Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the [SUP][p][/SUP]sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. [SUP]20 [/SUP]The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the [SUP][q][/SUP]sky, and to every beast of the field, but for [SUP][r][/SUP]Adam there was not found a helper [SUP][/SUP]suitable for him. [SUP]21 [/SUP]So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. [SUP]22 [/SUP]The Lord God [SUP][t][/SUP]fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. [SUP]23 [/SUP]The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
[SUP][/SUP]She shall be called [SUP][v][/SUP]Woman,
Because [SUP][w][/SUP]she was taken out of [SUP][x][/SUP]Man.”
[SUP]24 [/SUP]For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. [SUP]25 [/SUP]And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

yes God rested, putting his presence in this day, like the burning bush was Holy because his presence,

here are some of my thoughts on the rest of genesis 2...
God did not put adam just anywhere they could survive in...he made a garden for him...besides providing for all of his needs it was also a beautiful home for him to live in... God doesn't just sustain his people...he pours out his blessings on us extravagantly...
but the garden did not belong to adam...God told adam to take care of the garden...he was God's servant watching over the garden that belonged to God... that reminds us that this earth does not belong to us...it belongs to God and as long as God has left us in charge of his earth we need to take good care of it...
also it is important to notice that God intended for adam to work from the very beginning...he was supposed to tend the garden... this shows that work is not a result of the fall...it is part of God's original design...but of course at this time the work was not exhausting or tedious... still this teaches us that it is not good for us to be idle...work and productivity are good for us...
it is neat how God brought all the animals to adam before he created the woman...obviously God already knew that none of the animals would be a suitable helper for adam...but God wanted adam to learn this for himself so that he would not be oblivious to his need...by the time he was done naming the animals adam probably felt pretty alone...and this made adam much more appreciative when God finally created the woman...
the woman was created to be a helper for adam...too often nowdays people just assume that the helping role is a lesser role...but we can see from this chapter that the world was incomplete and 'not good' without someone in the helping role...being a helper is an -essential- job that deserves full honor...it is really our role as women that actually completed God's creation...
i want to share some things that have been said about the creation of the woman...
an old jewish saying goes like this...'the woman was not made from adam's head to rule over him...not made from his feet to be trampled on by him...but made out of his side to be equal with him...under his arm to be protected by him...and near to his heart to be loved by him'
john macarthur pointed out that if adam was refined from the dust then eve was doubly refined...
the apostle paul wrote that the woman is the glory of the man...
and matthew henry said that if the man is the head then the woman is the crown...

why dust, which is so easily blown away by the slightest movement of air?

Great study here love it and pray the Lord keep blessing it. I have a question, it is suggested that in gen verse 1and2 that in the original language and text it refers to a great war between God and Satan. The host of God is translated as armies and so on. Do you know anything about this? Thank you
