I don't like labels because they mean something different to everyone.
I just don't like labels period...put one on me, and I will do my best to wiggle out of it
labels are for plants in the garden, eh?

I label you a "label disliker".I just don't like labels period...put one on me, and I will do my best to wiggle out of it

I mean it for everybody in the sense that we ought to expect an increase in evil men and seducers. We are in a spiritual war and Satan's ministers, like Pharaoh's magicians of old, do have supernatural powers at their disposal at times as well. We need to be careful in relation to what types of "spirits" we allow in our midst. Again, Paul warned of "another Jesus", "another gospel" AND "another spirit". If the Jesus being preached isn't truly the Jesus of scripture and if the gospel being preached isn't truly the gospel of Christ, then we can be sure that there is "another spirit" at work. Do you know what happened in the church that I used to attend? Right in the midst of this alleged "move of the Spirit" which prompted the pastor to actually remove the first 5 rows of pews from the church so people could roll around on the floor laughing their heads off due to alleged "holy laughter", THE EVANGELISM TEAM DISMANTLED. I actually went to the pastor and tried to reason with him by reminding him that the Holy Spirit came to convict or convince the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and that He does so indirectly through the preaching of the gospel and that any true "move of the Spirit" would inevitably involve/include the same, but it was like I was talking to a brick wall.I know it wasn't aimed at me LOL!
I'm not sure who you do mean it for though...
It's not just tongues. It's dancing. It's shouting out something when it's prayer time. (In English, since tongues was already covered.) It's getting up to "share" something that often really sounded good, unless you knew the sharer. (What was said was usually was not the way the people lived their lives.) It's this effort to put on a show for others, even when the people weren't the leaders of the church. It's the worship music being more about getting the troops rallied. Can you elaborate on that?
Um, I am the disabled girl. You have just, basically, said that if a person lacks the intellectual magnitude to fathom all the Bible, they are in trouble. (even though you didn't MEAN to say that) If you "know" more than me, or if I "know" more than you, or if we both know more than a mentally disabled person who can't even read the Bible to discover this "God" we say we know.... what do you believe that means? I think it means next to nothing.
I think the disabled girl probably may "know" more of God than us simply because she asks God if He sees her.
It is not about us learning God (for whatever reason), but Him knowing us. Remember the verse...."But, but, GOD! Didn't we study and "know" all about you, and then begin to do all sorts of cool things in your name?" And what did He say? "I never knew you."
Hmmm, and I keep thinking it's about God, not about older denominations.Modern "Charismatic" Churches are the result of the hybridization over the past 60 years or so of Pentecostal beliefs concerning the gifts of the Spirit and Baptist views on grace & sanctification. Basically what you have are people who think that they can operate in the gifts of the Spirit yet still be self motivated / carnally minded.
Biblically, the Spiritual gifts are an extension of the nature (presence) of the Holy Spirit at work in one's life. Scripture, Galatians 5:16 to be exact, clearly teaches that a person can not walk in the Spirit and walk in sin simultaneously. However, many Charismatic Churches, including mainline Pentecostal denominations such as AoG, CoG, & IPHC, have embraced Baptist views on sanctification, the idea that sanctification is a life long involuntary process. Because of this, unfortunately, many are attempting to operate in the Spirit while the flesh is still in control. The result of which are alleged "manifestations of the Spirit" that do not produce authentic spiritual reasults (ie. souls saved, bodies healed, mental & emotional bondage broken).
This could have been avoided if modern Pentecostalism, established in 1906, would have embraced Classical Pentecostal (Keswick) views on sanctification, est in 1885.

You know? You get very upset if you think anyone might even be possibly putting your church in negative light.Oh, fun! He got ahold of some of Piper's teachings. LOL
53510,
How did you find a Vineyard that claimed they were Pentecostal?
Not so much. Watering or rain tends to make the label stakes fade away too quickly. lolI just don't like labels period...put one on me, and I will do my best to wiggle out of it

I read the labels and still get pits in my prunes. Now what?Read the label before you buy so you won't be surprised later. Just sayin...![]()
My mistake! It should have been "the Vineyard; the Pentecostal church.."
So a semi-colon separating two totally different churches. Although the Vineyard had really good music (Brian Doerkson's home church) and dancing and flag waving, which I had never seen in a Pentecostal Church. And very loud!
The Pentecostal church was the big one, and the pastors had no time to deal with the congregation! Just lip service to helping people!
