Ahem:

AAAAAAAARRRRGH!

Today at work we were supposed to have a visit from the big guy from Corporate. Everything was just-so. Everyone on the schedule was an A-list worker, the ones you know you can depend on. Everyone was nervous. The maintenance guy was hanging around far later than normal just in case he was needed for some last minute thing. The guy was supposed to be there at noon.

So we waited... and we waited... And at about 2:30pm the call came that he was held up at another store over something and he would be here tomorrow instead.

NOOOOOOOO! We have to go through all this tension and apprehension again TOMORROW?!

I'm going to charge the workplace for a bottle of antacid. And some ibuprophen. Work related stress y'know. They totally should pay for it.

Wow. I've heard of fashionably late, but daggone, I mean PhDs get 15 minutes to be late and then everyone can leave if they're any later. And this dude waits 2 hours and 30 minutes to even call?

Inconsiderate.

Is it wrong that I found that story both humorous and sad at same time. Hang in there today was just a dry run!!

Very dry. You could have cut the tension with a knife and spread it on bread.

It doesn't expire. I don't share, because BUSINESS, baby. :)

Four-fold vanilla means they've used four times the vanilla beans to what is typically used.
Completely understand but appreciate the knowledge transfer..will look into four fold vanilla. I read the secret to cookies is to triple the amount of vanilla called for and let batch sit overnight in fridge to meld flavors. It seems to have an impact according to family and friends.

thanks!
I make my own vanilla extract and I DO share!! :)

seriously, split a couple beans open, put in some alcohol (I used vodka) and let it sit for a few months. Better than what you will find in the store - - barring Olerica's "special - secret" stash.

I've never made vanilla extract. This sounds awesome :) How much vodka do you use?

I had no idea until today, but quite a few people (that I know of) were banned within the relatively short span of about five days that I was gone...

Please share details. Do you just split 2 vanilla beans and put in a quart canning jar and fill with vodka? Grey goose type or joe bobs vodka?

I make kahlua from acratch at holidays and that is good stuff too.
