This question has not only already been answered, but you've been given stark examples of it.

If you're not willing to see and consider answers to your questions, then perhaps you should stop asking them. I mean, what's the point of asking a question if you're going to turn a deaf ear to the answers?
She answered her own questions -- did you finish reading her post, before you replied?

I thought it was interesting how your story aligns (almost exactly) with a scene from this movie.

This isn't a laughable matter.

Thanks for the prayer though -- Understanding is always a positive thing. I have learned a lot through this thread.
I'm not familiar with the movie, could be why I missed the tie-in.

Not a big horror movie fan. I figure there's enough death and depravity out there, I don't need to engage in it for entertainment.

Why continue the personal attacks / judgements?

Why not use logic and reason instead?
God has given me a burden for Roger. He desperately needs his eyes opened so he can stop being a stumbling stone against the cause of Christ.

Unfortunately Roger does not respond to logic and reason. He's like a marine holding the wrong hill... gonna defend it no matter what. I'm just trying to provoke and budge him to the right hill. Sorry it comes across as judgment and personal attacks.

My wife and I were discussing this yesterday. She told me stories of her brother who, at times, appeared to become possessed and speak in tongues. Never once did anything positive come from these events -- often times negative consequences were the result.

One time he even thought he was a chicken -- dead serious! He walked around the kitchen, clucking like a chicken. Another time, he exposed his private parts to his sister.

Sound like the works of the Holy Spirit to you?
Not at all. The big litmus test is, does the utterance glorify God?

Remember, satan falsifies the things of God. The very fact that satan has so muddied these waters should be proof that he fears this truth, lest it be used against him.

I'm sure Roger can handle it.

I too had a similar sentiment, but later found that I was so blinded by what I perceived as offensive -- that I missed the truth in his statements!

I think he will respond better to direct challenges, rather than indirect (hidden) challenges.

Answering your own questions is a sign of a closed mind... but I'll go back and re-read it in case I missed something.

Seems even this 'litmus test' is not always so simple. Take those who claim to have the gift of tongues -- how can any bystander determine whether the utterances glorify God, or simply nonsense?

I guess I understood her post to be arranged/designed like a thesis -- posing questions or statements, and then providing the details of how she addresses these questions/statements.

Sometimes you can't... but I would say that a tongue in public/assembly is supposed to have an interpretation, otherwise one should shut up. A tongue in private, that's for the speaker to discern. So if there are bystanders trying to discern what you just mumbled I'm thinking you've gone wrong somewhere.

And again, God is not the god of confusion. If it looks like a circus act, it probably is.

You are right, the lack of tongues does not indicate an unsaved status.

But I would caution you with Mark 23: 28Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”30He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”

Isn't Mark 23:30 exactly what you just said? Beware thy tongue!
Is the gift of discerning Spirits still applicable for today?

King James Bible
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Sometimes I "feel" like I have this gift.:p

Do we stir our gifts -- or does God?
Paul was urging Timothy to stir up the gift that was in him by Paul's laying on of hands.

PW I think it is time to spend less time on here agreeing with everybody and more time reading the Bible for yourself!!

See you later

If you would of included the next 2 verses from my Quote, Paul answers those questions. Not us.

Thanks Barly :)

I found that I jumped-the-gun (on several occasions) -- rushing to the defense of those who seemed to be the target of personal attacks. Turns out, those who were complaining of personal attacks were more guilty than those who were accused of carrying out the attacks.

There have been several occasions (on these forums) where I have been so blinded by what I perceived as offensive and destructive words that I failed to see the truth in their statements. Perhaps this is one of the difficulties that goes along with this method of communication (internet forums). Perhaps it is because I am still an infant in the faith, compared to these grandpas.
Lessons learned. :)

They sure are. Too bad his is de-powered by his lack of belief and faith.
This is a slanderous accusation. You have no idea nor do you have any evidence that what you are asserting is even possible let alone true.

Again shame on you!

Why do you strive against the word of God? Is your emotions of more importance than Gods word?

Make up all the stories you want but God has concluded tongues. 1 Cor 13:8 God has not concluded His working of miracles but tongues never were given for the Gentiles. You simply have completely missed the purpose of tongues and corrupted them for consumption upon your carnal lusts.

I cannot stop you from your error. You give the impression that you are the seed that sprung up and was over come by the weeds and thorns. Drawn away completely from what Christ intends for you to do.

For the cause of Christ
Roger

Just because I 'like' a post does not necessarily mean that I AGREE with that post (that's what the Rep button is for). Usually when I 'like' a post it means I appreciate the manner in which the person presented their words, or it's simply to let people know that I read their post.

I have been reading the Bible more lately -- thanks to some discussions here on CC which have prompted me to dig back in. I've also been expanding my readings to include commentaries -- Did you ever read the thesis that was shared by VW?

I think it is time to spend less time on here disagreeing with everybody's perceived attitudes and more time addressing their Biblically valid points.
