Some draw the parallel between Jesus cursing the fig tree with the coming destruction of the Temple. The whole Judaic system was being done away with; the law/animal sacrificial system was not producing fruit for the kingdom. The new wine skin was being prepared in Him, the true Bread of Life. Saying He was practicing WoF for us to copy seems a stretch. He resurrected Himself from death, after all.
Symbolically or figuratively, yes, I believe that could be the purpose for His cursing the tree.
But the fact remains that the tree was a real tree and when Jesus cursed that tree, or spoke negatively to it, His words caused that tree to die, literally.
And He explained to Peter how He did it. And He wasn't saying that it was only reserved for Him, because He's God's Son?
No. He said, "whosoever". That means Peter could do the same thing He did.
Why do you think He taught him that?
It was to let him know that he could do the same as He did.

Jesus did not resurrect Himself.
The Holy Spirit did that.

No, you don't know a thing about WOF. All you just stated is what you think you know. No one in WOF desires to go against God or do anything apart from God. They just have the audacity to believe what God says in his word instead of lacing every prayer with the doubt of "if it be your will." If God already said he would do it in his word, then it is his will, and it's just doubt to ask "if it be your will."

Many such occasions happened where Jesus didn't heal them all. Neither can we if the Holy Ghost doesn't lead us.

Now we can pray & ask God for healing, true enough, but the decision to heal is the Lord's, not ours.

I had to ask someone else this question.
How could you grow up with those who believe in WOF and know so little about it.
First, Jesus is our example. He has already shown and told us what to do and how to do it. To say God won't do what He said He would do in His word is to call God a liar.
Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
That is to the child of God.
Second, the word clearly states, the spirits are subject to us.
1Co 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
They act when we want them to.

Not only that, but the word of God and the word of faith are subject to the sender.
Mat8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthythat thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, andmy servant shall be healed.
Mat8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me:and I say to this man, Go, and hegoeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Dothis, and he doeth it.

And he knew that Jesus' word would not return to Himvoid, but accomplish that which He pleased, and prospered in thething whereto He sent it.

Third, you misunderstood the scripture.
Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Even as Jesus personally didn't create all things, neither did He actually do the healing Himself, but it was the Spirit in Him that did the works. That is what He meant when He said He could do nothing of Himself.

He said the same to us.
Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Joh 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Fourth,
2Co 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

God's decisions has already been made in His word.

The scriptures say He could no great miracles there because of their unbelief.

In that case I would say it was more a lack of faith than a lack of willingness.

Jesus also said He laid His life down of His own accord and had the power to take it up again.

"No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."

All power and authority has been given to Him, after all. :)

And this is the reason for the great complaint against WoF: the absence of healing is laid on the lack of faith of the person who is already suffering.

The greatest lie of all is that you deserve blessing. The way this is preached is the blessing in wealth has already been given, you just need to claim it. It bypasses the whole question of greed or desire for something more.

Read the following verses and then decide if this ethic is biblical

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Name it claim it - a lie of presumption. To describe a need and dictate the solution is putting mans desires above Gods and claiming Gods authority on themselves. This is both blasphemy and heresy.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

What is so false in the WOF approach is the Lords will and Kingdom are not their desire or His righteousness, so whatever else flows in simply not from Jesus or His gospel.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

After listening to these preachers Gods will is not their desire so they have left the faith, they are following their will and their desires, believing as "gods" they can command things to happen. This is blasphemy and heresy, claiming equality with God, and believing they personally have the authority over creation.

Even though this is obviously a lie, they want to believe it, and see examples of it being true in the weather.
But to put this on a simpler scale, they cannot command a book to move from one place to another, so why should anyone believe this rubbish, but they do. If they understood the will of God, they would know they are walking into the fire as quickly as any sinner does, while claiming to know the truth.

"If it be your will."

The accusation is if you ask the Lord something and then paraphrase it with "if it be your will" you are doubting.
The idea is the prayer is obviously Gods will.

The problem is we are told we are not to doubt. This becomes knowing to the depths of your soul this is Gods will.
I am sure most people have no clue if what they are praying is Gods will or not.

So the real issue is to know what and what is not Gods will. Looking at the prosperity gospel preachers or WOF preachers many have no clue, but like the act or show. Now I am sure some people in healing meeting 100% believe they have been healed but it later transpires they have not. So faith is not enough, but actually knowing Gods will.

The problem is Gods will is not in massive public meetings, or in celebrity, or in flows of money etc.

But if you really want the key to the door seek Gods kingdom and His righteousness and then you will know Gods will.

If you want to know God's will just read His Word. Isaiah 53:5 says that we are healed with His stripes. Jesus said if you've seen Him you've seen the Father, and He never told anybody it wasn't His will to heal them. Nor did He ever say "this is your lucky day ... I'm in a good mood and as the sovereign God I choose to heal you." But He did say "Thy faith has made thee whole".

When Paul preached the gospel at Lystra in Acts 14 a man who had never walked heard him preaching and had faith to be healed. We know that faith comes by hearing God's Word, so the gospel that Paul preached must have included physical healing.

When WoF people talk about not praying "if it be Thy will" they're talking about the prayer of petition. If you don't know God's will you can't pray in faith about it. This is especially true when seeking direction or making future plans, in Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane or James 4:15. But if you do know His will based on His Word, you can ask for it in confidence knowing that He is faithful, and cannot lie. That's why Smith Wigglesworth said "if you pray seven times for something, you prayed the first six times in unbelief".

I understand that, and I agree that it should never be presented as an accusation, but faith is involved and must be encouraged. My view is that ministers must encourage faith rather than use the lack of it as some sort of an excuse.


You can't have scripture that says Jesus couldn't perform miracles because of a lack of faith but say that faith isn't a necessary ingredient. There are too many scriptures where Jesus references faith as necessary.

The answer is claiming what is rightfully yours. But think just a little. What is true health or the true state of the body. Everyday your immune system fights off bacteria, viruses, fungi etc and yet you are not aware of it. You have imperfections in sight, in health, in every aspect of life. So which is yours to claim and which to leave alone?

Once you start saying there is another place you can walk in you have to know how and what this is. But the truth is people get ill, they fight of infections and live like everyone else. Mostly they also die like everyone else.

Now what we are talking about claiming is cures for cancer or life threatening illnesses, and the truth is most get better because of medicene or die. It is easy to claim these great authority of aches and pains which come and go, but over real stuff, the Lord does work, but only occassionaly. It is never on the scale Wof claims, or even in the theology.

Equally most of the christian church has always been poor and oppressed. We are told this is literally what we should expect, for as they rejected Jesus they will reject us. We are commanded to love God, and good works, and not aspire to wealth or treasure in this world, yet WOf says the opposite, in fact it is our right. This is 100% not the gospel or the words of Jesus.

A righteous community are told they will find reward, things will prosper and work, but that is because righteousness makes this work, and sin and corruption destroys everything it touches. It is not some spiritual equation, give money to the preacher and you will get a blessing back, that is lottery thinking or pagan good luck charms.

So what do you want to be known for? Good luck charms or following the Lord?

Jesus did things to demonstrate his gift of life and authority. It was a positive affirmation of what was on offer and most ignored it. It was not something he had failed to see and then claimed. It was His ministry to shine like a light and teach love and truth to those around.

His message was wealth brings false security, is a distraction, worry for clothing and not getting enough destroys peoples true focus. And the true focus is learning to love one another, giving as the needs appear.

The apostles founded a community who shared everything in common. Greed and gain for the individual was rejected. Money was collected only to be redistributed to the needs in the community. This is 100% not the message of WOF.

It is all lucky charms and success through giving to the preacher. You know God is present because of smoke or feathers or gems or angels. It is not because you love each other from the heart and the good works you are doing. That is just empty religion, you have something so much better.

It is not difficult to pull this crap apart and show the corruption and greed of the preachers. Oh but they are successful so they deserve their reward. No they have created such a money making operation, taking massive amounts of wealth out of this system makes little difference but boy are they millionaires with a lifestyle to match. We should all aspire to create pyramide schemes like this, because they deserve the rewards of their hard work selling a story to needy people in the hope of greater personal return themselves. This is called a ponsi scheme, which falls apart when there is nobody left to rip off and people want the return that never arrives.

I have met these people, and they are angry, betrayed and used. They are ashamed they believed they were doing something good when in the end they were selling a dream on the backs of under paid, sincere workers, who took everything at face value, but did not see it was suckers being taken to the dry cleaners.

The power Jesus was talking about was the Holy Ghost. Jesus' word was with power, and His word is Spirit. He said He HAS the power, not that He was the power.
Pilate said he had the power to crucify Jesus and to release Him. Wasn't his power in his soldiers? The same applies to Jesus' power, the Holy Ghost.

Sir, you are calling God a liar, telling people His word isn't true. Like the Pharisees, you have an evil heart of unbelief.
The word of God is truth and God means what He said.
Just because you don't have any signs following you, doesn't mean the word is a lie or that God doesn't do what He said He would do for those who really do believe. You obviously don't believe, therefore, you get nothing, according to your faith.

The power Jesus was talking about was the Holy Ghost. Jesus' word was with power, and His word is Spirit. He said He HAS the power, not that He was the power.
Pilate said he had the power to crucify Jesus and to release Him. Wasn't his power in his soldiers? The same applies to Jesus' power, the Holy Ghost.
Not by power, nor by might, but by my Spirit saith the Lord of hosts.

If you want to know God's will just read His Word. Isaiah 53:5 says that we are healed with His stripes. Jesus said if you've seen Him you've seen the Father, and He never told anybody it wasn't His will to heal them. Nor did He ever say "this is your lucky day ... I'm in a good mood and as the sovereign God I choose to heal you." But He did say "Thy faith has made thee whole".

When Paul preached the gospel at Lystra in Acts 14 a man who had never walked heard him preaching and had faith to be healed. We know that faith comes by hearing God's Word, so the gospel that Paul preached must have included physical healing.

When WoF people talk about not praying "if it be Thy will" they're talking about the prayer of petition. If you don't know God's will you can't pray in faith about it. This is especially true when seeking direction or making future plans, in Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane or James 4:15. But if you do know His will based on His Word, you can ask for it in confidence knowing that He is faithful, and cannot lie. That's why Smith Wigglesworth said "if you pray seven times for something, you prayed the first six times in unbelief".
This is truth. God's word IS His will.
