True faith results in obedience according to James. Faith without works is dead, and dead faith can't save you.
Yes, we know that. But your post #26 had nothing to do with what I was talking about. That's why I said it makes no sense.

I was saying we do not receive His Spirit by works nor does Christ save us by our obedience.
Our obedience or fruit is a result of His Spirit's work in us.

Yep. Better be with Christ, One sin is all it takes to take what we consider a lifetime of good and throw it down the tubes..

So again, WHat hope can one ever have apart from Christ. If OSAS is not true, no man or woman has any hope period.

Your comment is a clear example of people ignoring God and obeying the theological teachings of man. Our "hope" is in Christ, not the Southern Baptist Association, or it's ideologies.

Your ignoring God's Word is a telling thing.......or, maybe you have been so brainwashed by the theologies of man that God's Word can no longer be understood. Either way, it is a sad thing to ignore/dismiss God's Word.

1. Who is ignoring Gods word?
2. Who is southern baptist? You should stop thinking in words of men, and just start listening to what someone is sayinig
3. Who is ignoring any of Gods word? Your the one who says we should follow law. Oh wait, Only part of the law. The rest does not relate to us.

Your the one watering down the law. Not me..

The law says, I can be a righteous in all areas, but if I fall in one point (as Ezek 18: 24 and James himself state quite clearly) and all my good deeds are or naught. I am judged by the law as a sinner..

You state I should follow the law to be righteous.. and not ignore it..

I will chose to follow the word of God. Not a judiazer who wants to put us back under law.

As usual with you........you are truly a sad person..........OSAS is a false teaching of man. God's Word (which you claim to follow) clearly reveals this, yet you continue to be led down the path of OSAS.

Deal with the 18th Chapter of Ezekiel, argue with God about His warning to man. In that argument, I'm gonna go with God, not you and your false teachings.

Dude your the one arguing with God.

If Osas is false. Salvation is of works, not of grace. You can not have it both ways. Paul himself calls you a fool. One who claims that salvation is entered in by the spirit. but must be kept by the flesh (works)

You want to be a fool. thats up to you. But stop judging people who want to listen to all of Gods word. Not a watered down version of Gods word.

You just proved your true self. and that you preach a false gospel of works. Thank you.

We obey the gospel by choosing to believe the gospel. Romans 10:16 - But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?

The gospel is a message of grace to be received through faith. The gospel is not a set of rituals to perform, a code of laws to be obeyed or a check list of good works to accomplish as a prerequisite for salvation. The gospel simply sets forth Christ crucified, buried and risen (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) as the Savior of all who believe/trust in His finished work of redemption as the ALL-sufficient means of their salvation (Romans 1:16; 3:24).

John 6: . [SUP]45 [/SUP]It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’[SUP][e][/SUP] Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. [SUP]46 [/SUP]Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. [SUP]47 [/SUP]Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me[SUP][g][/SUP] has everlasting life.

[SUP]62 [/SUP]What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? [SUP]63 [/SUP]It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. [SUP]64 [/SUP]But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.

It is the work of God we believe.. That is the work Jesus said should be done, when questioned about what works need to be done for eternal life.

[SUP]27 [/SUP]Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” [SUP]28 [/SUP]Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

[SUP]29 [/SUP]Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.

Right, and here is what we are to obey by believing it...

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Paul said above 'by which you are saved'. ..or do you care to add your own obedience?

Why OSAS is true (amongst other reasons)...

Romans 5:10 (KJV) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Jesus told them plainly. "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."

:)

He also said this..

John 3:18
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Not a thing about works, Following some laws. or anything.

Faith in him..

Two reasons for doubting OSAS...

1. Weak and frightful conscience.
2. Not yet born again...still thinking it's all about YOU.

Perfect love casts out fear :) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

That is the premise you use for supporting OSAS ???

Let's see what the word of God says:

1) There will be those who are drawn away by being deceived......Mentioned all throughout the NT

2) There will those who fall back to perdition............Mentioned in Hebrews

Perdition means one who is headed to the second death in the lake of fire.

3) Jude gives examples to believers to warn them not to fall the same way

Example: He uses those of the Exodus, when it comes to salvation who later, turned their back on God; Exodus 32:33 states they were destroyed and blotted out of the Book of Life.

Blotted out of the Book of Life = No salvation/eternal life

Yes and the Word of God gives a number of places that gives assurance to believers that eternal life abides in them, to state those who disagree with OSAS is weak or not born again is faulty understanding.

His Word and Holy Spirit gives us assurance !!!

Why OSAS is true (amongst other reasons)...

Romans 5:10 (KJV) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

A fortiori~~"with stronger reason"

If God Gave us His highest and best while we were still enemies and reconciled us(believers) by His death....it stands to reason or is an inescapable fact or confident conclusion that we WILL be saved by His life.

If he gave us His MOST(His son) while we were yet sinners and enemies, it is an inescapable fact that he will give us the lesser(salvation of a man) as children.

This right here crossnote you show the misapplied teachings of the OSAS doctrine, as it pulls scriptures and makes them stand alone.

That is a faulty use of God's word as not even the whole chapter of Romans 5 can be taken without the rest of the epistle, especially that of Romans 6 that follows where Paul warns about allowing sin to continue to reign in our mortal bodies.

Paul is speaking to believers in 6 and tells them if they allow sin to continue to reign that sin is still their true master that will lead to death. The Greek word used for death here is not physical death, but means eternal death (spiritual).

" For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required "

This is stated by Jesus in Luke 12:48...........

Romans 6:12~~ let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body...........

Paul is talking about our sin nature. our sin nature has 2 sides to it. sin and evil. And the evil side is our own righteousness.

Eating the fruit~~Sin

Fig leaves for our coverings~~Evil.

ALL sin is evil, but not all evil is sin. This is why good and evil are on the SAME tree.

It is a concept totally foreign to us , but trying to follow the law..............is living in sin. We are just living in the evil(human good) side of the flesh. And the law will show us that we ain't Good(Divine good)

Many believers today are living in sin, its just the "good" side of the flesh. They aren't necessarily following "the Law", they are following their OWN righteousness.......evil.
