My opinion is that the focus was a lot more on grace in the NT but the grace was there in the OT... because God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow :)

Jesus showed us grace while living the Torah
The graciousness (hen) that God showed in the OT is not the same as NT grace. There was no word to describe what Paul was trying to convey when he speaks of grace. Paul takes the only word that comes close Charis and imbues it with an entirely new meaning. He uses it to describe a new and living way of the new covenant and the newness of life all embodied in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. For Paul, Grace and Christ are synonymous, there is no Christ without Grace, and there is no Grace without Christ.

I agree!

Jesus was the greatest law preacher - to those who try to live by their own self-effort

Jesus was the greatest grace teacher to those who knew they needed to depend on Him alone and not themselves.

We always need to take the words of our Lord in view of "who" He was speaking to.

Don't take someone else's medicine!
The Bible teach us that we are all echad (one) in Christ brother, so we are not taking someone else's medicine. This "us vs them" mentality should stop as we are all one in Christ :)

I don't think he was speaking of "us vs. them." It sounded like he meant recognizing and understanding the various passages in the Bible as being for whom they were addressed.

For instance: He told ONE single man in the whole Bible to sell all he had, and give the money to the poor. That was not addressed to anyone else.

Yes..we are all one in Christ!

Jesus spoke to the rich young ruler to sell all he had ...if we take that to mean everyone..we would be taking the rich young rulers medicine....his medicine is not for all..that was what I meant. :)

But those are the words of Jesus..shouldn't we live by the red letters?..If we love God we will obey His commandments?.. I am being foolish here but I say that to expose the arguments that some give because sometimes we interpret Jesus's words through traditions..

there is a difference ....Hey..the good news is..I still have hands..still have my eyes! I never cut my hand off yet nor plucked out my eyes...

Those who are discounting the Sabbath, have yet to explain the origin of Sunday worship. The only thing you keep saying is, you worship on that day because of the resurrection of Christ. But nowhere is there a command to remember Sunday and keep it holy. This is man's tradition only. And god says, "In vain they teach the traditions of men as doctrine."

Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mark 7:7

The word Sabbath means 7. The calendar has not changed when it comes to the number of the days of the week. Even though Rome has tried to change the number of days of the week.

Those who discount the Sabbath are those who confine it to one day of the week. The Sabbath rest we enter into, as Christians, is Jesus Christ Himself... HE is our promised land, our true and eternal Sabbath rest.

There is only one Sabbath day and we are living in it now. Jesus is our Sabbath. He is our rest. We rest in the finish work of Christ on our behalf. In reality there is no one day..either Saturday ( which was the jewish day ) nor sunday...

But let everyone is free to believe what they want..

Romans 14:22 (NASB)

Its immaterial. The chief exponent of the new covenant to the world tells us we can either treat one day as more sacred than another, or treat every day alike. Each person must make up their own mind concerning this.

Is that the colossians verse again? Or what verse is that?

That's talking about food...

Before Jesus died on the cross there was a bunch of regulations on what you could and couldn't do and what you could and couldn't eat. That was done away with. When Jesus died, he made it ok for us to eat pork and touch things that otherwise would be deemed unclean. The ten commandments had nothing to do with this. None of the ten commandments say, "don't touch, don't eat." They are all matters of the heart, including the sabbath.

Colossians 2:16-17 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day—
[SUP]17 [/SUP] things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

All the Old Covenant things are shadows are things to come..Jesus!..He fulfills all feasts, new moons, Sabbaths..all the law

One man considers one day more sacred/ holy than another, another man considers everyday alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind rom 14:5

That says nothing about the sabbath though...

A few verses before that it talks about how we have to accept those whose faith is weak, meaning those who are less firm in their faith may need more restrictions. If someone falls to sin because of food (like a food addiction) they may need to abstain from food especially on certian days or certian times when temptation is greater. That's what I get from it anyway.

This is why I told you once before that you are going to always be led around like a blind person if you do not learn to go find the (often) many places where a subject is discussed in the Bible, and learn to put together the total and combined thinking presented to us.

Remember how I told you I could "prove" just about ANYTHING to you in the Bible by independently selecting only the verses I want to?.......... and then I said I could turn right around and "prove" just the opposite by selecting OTHER isolated verses?

Romans 14 is about what Paul termed disputable matters( verse1) You get to decide what you want to do. He mainly speaks of food/ unclean food in this regard but also whether you set aside a specific day as sacred/ holy or not
