Yes, and that is about His Salvation Promise, which will actually manifest WHEN He returns. Until that time of His return, we have the Promise of His Salvation which is still our HOPE, which means we are to remain in Him waiting for His return, and doing works in Him, which includes further repentance as needed.
Rom.8:12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

It WAS a battle..........It still is a battle if the believer walks according to the flesh. If the believer walks according to the Spirit we are set free from the battle.

To set our minds on sin, is setting our minds on the things of our flesh.

We repent constantly when we learn new truth about the awesomeness of the salvation the Lord Jesus bought for us with His blood!..We work out the salvation which is in our new creations in Christ...we have redemption...now....some things like a new body we get when Jesus returns for us...
And that's about what Apostle Paul also taught in Galatians 5, describing the works of The Spirit vs. the works of the flesh, and those who keep doing the flesh works not inheriting the Kingdom of God.
That is WHY we are still in this flesh we have need of continued repentance to Christ, because all except Jesus has been concluded under sin so His Salvation would be by Faith of those who believe. Thus we will continue to have sin in our lives all the way up to His return, or our natural death, whichever one comes first, and thus will still need to repent like Apostle John showed. When we do that repentance, then we are counted as perfect in Him, so it's also about an on-going walk, not just a one-time act of first belief.
That's not the kind of repentance Apostle John, nor the prayer Jesus gave us to pray, nor what Holy Communion with Jesus is about. It's about sins we may commit AFTER having first believed on Him and been baptized. It's about recognizing our sin and asking Him forgiveness of it, and trying to make a change.

I do agree that we need to name and site or acknowledge our sin to God as believers. When we grieve or quench the Spirit we need to recognize it and carry on............In grace. Not for salvation, but to get back in His plan for our lives.
Acts 16:31 refutes your Idea that salvation is not a one time/moment in time choice. The aorist tense of believe proves this. the moment a person believes, God saves them.
Let's look at it through what scripture has to say about repentance concerning preaching the gospel. I know we have been taught differently through our religious upbringing and beliefs handed down to us. Let's let God's word speak life to us.
Peter preached the gospel of the grace of Christ. to Cornelius ..no repentence used
Acts 10:43-44 (NASB)
[SUP]43 [/SUP] "Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."
[SUP]44 [/SUP] While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.
They were not told to "repent" here. I love how the Holy Spirit "falls upon " them as soon s they hear about the forgiveness of sins proclaimed to them because of Christ!
Peter got in trouble with the jewish Christians when he went back...he says in Acts 11:17,18

[SUP]17 [/SUP] "Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?"
[SUP]18 [/SUP] When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life."
What was there repentance?...they changed their mind toward God and had faith in Jesus.
Notice that it was God that granted them repentance. New Covenant repentance is not something we conjure up on our own nor is it a work we produce.
2 Tim 2:24-25 says that God may grant them repentance so that they may know the truth. God grants the repentance..not a work we do on our own.

Acts 13:38-39 (NASB)
[SUP]38 [/SUP] "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

Again ..no telling them to "repent"...but Paul did tell them .." urged them to continue in the grace of God"
Both of the examples we have of New Covenant preaching about the gospel of grace had NO words of telling people to repent.
These clearly show that "repentance " was not told to them
So, another point..does repentance mean to be sorrowful for your sin? Judas "repented "

The word used here for "repent" is not the same word for normally used for repentance ( which is = change your mind in greek )..the word used here is completely different..it means to be sorrowful.
So, repentance does not mean "turn from sin '..it means change your mind and turn to God and believe in Jesus and hat He has done.
There is a change after we come to Christ and His life in us transforms us.
We do not say it's ok to sin...grace says the exact opposite...and maybe no matter how many times we say it..people will only "hear" what they want to believe.
We all need to repent every day as we hear the beauty of our Lord proclaimed!

Like I already said, that view of the word repentance meaning different things to different people is man's philosophy, for we are given the method for continued repentance per NT doctrine which is about recognizing our sin, and asking Jesus forgiveness of it as a part of our continued walk with Him.
It is NOT simply a declaration of how He saves us. It is not practicing the old covenant law, which is only a vain attempt at association with OT doctrine. It is a simple matter of asking Him forgiveness of a sin we may commit in the future, and repenting of it by showing a change. It contains both a mental change and an attempt at physical change in our behavior.
Here is another good example of the same thing, of one trying to "imagine themselves" to be in Christ. This comment was made about practicing homosexuals....

This is ridiculous! Those who are practicing homosexuality are not "in Christ". So of course they don't know, because they didn't come to Christ to begin with, just as they don't know Christ because they are not truly "in Christ" by way of God's Holy Spirit. You cannot teach someone "to know" to be "in Christ", either your born again of the Holy Spirit or your not!
This lack of understanding of what it truly means to be "in Christ" also exposes how they do not truly know Christ, or His Spirit of Truth.

Satan has done a masterful job at masking true repentance. When it comes to salvation, repentance is simply changing your mind about Christ.
I'm not talking about the Promise of His Salvation we are given at first belief, which is when He forgives us of our sins past.
I'm talking about staying in Him with a continued walk... with Him, just as we would do with a good biological father. If we sinned against our biological father we loved and he loved us, wouldn't we repent and go to him asking forgiveness? If we'd do that with a biological father, how would that be any different with our Heavenly Father Who created us and loves us? It's actually that kind of relationship we are to have with our Lord Jesus, just like being a part of a family.
The Bible says "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your MIND". How can a continually practicing homosexual proclaim that he is serving JESUS CHRIST and bound for heaven and that homosexual leaves 'church", goes home and jumps into bed with a same sex partner. Is JESUS being glorified by that?
Absolutely not. It's about OUR continued repentance to HIM directly when we commit a future sin. And the first stage of that repentance is first recognizing... when WE commit a sin. This is what true repentance per NT Doctrine means.
This is so true. Satan has taught us that we have to earn forgiveness by wailing and sobbing and beating our breasts enough to appropriately impress God so that He will grant us the forgiveness His word tells us is already ours in Christ.
I do not insult God by begging Him to give me what He has already told me is mine because of Christ's sacrifice. Instead, I express sorrow for my disappointing behavior, and I THANK HIM FOR THE GIFT GIVEN TO ME BEFORE I EVER FIRST UTTERED HIS NAME... before I was born, even.
Now, I don't think you guys are excluded for not believing what God told us is true, but I sure do think you are making God feel sad because of such blatant unbelief of Him.
