The first Adam may have been more like the last Adam(Jesus Christ) than we ever learned in those cute "Adam and Eve" stories in Sunday school.

1 Timothy 2:13-14, "For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." Adam was not fooled, but knew exactly what he was doing.

But why did he do it? Romans 4:14, "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come." Something about Adam's transgression was similar to what Christ would do. The rest of Romans 4 explains how the first Adam messed things up and the last Adam made things right(last Adam is the Lord see 1 Corinthians 15:45-47). What the first Adam failed to do, the Lord could do. What would that be...RESCUE HIS BRIDE. She was lost. She would be banned from the garden and be alone. Genesis 2:18, "...it is not good for a man to be alone; I will make him a help meet for him."

They both fore-fitted their dwelling place to be with their bride.

They both gave up their authority, dominion over all the earth to be with their bride.

Adam sinned, the Lord became sin for his bride.

They both would lose their fellowship with God the Father.

They both would suffer death to be with their bride.

I'm sure there are more similarities than these, but it does make us think that Adam might have been attempting to rescue his bride to be with her.

Interesting idea, but I wonder how he could have understood the repercussions. He had no knowledge of evil. He could not have understood what death was. I've always thought that his sin was that he loved Eve more than he loved GOD, and hearkened to her voice instead of GOD's.

Good thought, but I think they knew what death was. They never questioned it. He never asked God, "By the way, what's death?"lol

By the scriptures, Death is revealed as sin, because the scripture reveals that while we were dead in sin, Jesus died for us, the just for the unjust, in order to wash away the sin of those that believe in the blood named Jesus for righteousness and life, and thereby reconcile and join the believers' souls to the creator, the spirit whose only name is Jesus, but called God by some earthly languages. Sin is revealed as ONLY unbelief in the blood named Jesus for righteousness, holiness and life. Consequently, death is revealed as ONLY unbelief in the blood named Jesus for righteousness, holiness and life. A soul whose sin is not washed away by faith alone in the only true blood named Jesus, is already and still dead because its unrighteousness and unholiness separates it from Jesus, the holy spirit, who himself is the life. The living are only those whose sin has been washed away, now and forever, by faith alone in the blood named Jesus, and are thereby joined to the holy spirit, Jesus, the life. Life is not in the flesh at all, but only in the soul that is righteous and holy by faith alone in the blood named Jesus for righteousness, holiness and life. Death is not in the flesh at all, but only in the soul that is still unrighteous and unholy only because of unbelief in the blood named Jesus for righteousness, holiness and life. We were all first created dead in sin due to unbelief in the blood of Jesus for righteousness and life. But by the grace, love, kindness, and mercy of the creator, Jesus, some are born again from death into life, Jesus, by faith alone in the blood of Jesus for righteousness and life. That a person takes the last breath doesn't mean the person's soul is dead. A sinful person's soul is now in hell, still like a dry bone, and so still dead and still separated from life, Jesus, only because of unbelief in the blood of Jesus for righteousness and life. A breathless, sinful person's soul is the same as sand. A breathing, righteous person's soul is same as the glory, Jesus, and so is now and forever joined to life and heaven, Jesus, the spirit in whom is the glory of heaven. A breathless, righteous person's soul is now and forever still glorious, still joined to life, Jesus, and still joined to heaven, Jesus, the spirit in whom is the glory of heaven. Righteous souls joined to Jesus will appear in glory with Jesus when Jesus appears in glory to burn up this perishing world, with all the unrighteous souls. The burning up of the world with all unrighteous souls is the hell fire. The burnt up world will be replaced by the new glorious world, Jesus, whose citizens are only souls that are righteous, holy, and perfect by faith alone in the only true blood named Jesus, the truth.

DEAD FROM CONCEPTION, BUT NOW ALIVE BY REBIRTH

Do we understand what death is?

No, and we never will, thanks to our Lord's death in our stead. We will only experience physical death (the separation of the soul from the body).
This brings to mind Hebrews 2:15, and, Oh death, where is thy sting?

There is nothing like physical death. There is only one death which is separation of an unrighteous soul from life, Jesus, due only to unbelief in the blood named Jesus for righteousness and life. The soul made righteous by faith alone in the blood named Jesus is now and forever separated from the flesh and joined to the spirit, Jesus, to be one spiritual and glorious body with Jesus, thus bringing into fulfillment the scripture which says that presence with the Lord, Jesus, is absence from the body of flesh, and that absence from the body of flesh is presence with the Lord, Jesus, since souls made righteous by faith alone in the blood named Jesus are now and forever present with the Lord, Jesus.
