I wonder how many people know that Michael Brown is actually a "Grace Preacher" who just thinks some people have gotten off track. If some people here found out that he was a leader of The Brownsville Revival (that horrible nest of crazy tongue-talkers and people falling on the floor, etc.) for four (4) years straight, they would probably die of mortified embarrassment.

Willie, the majority of us get off track in religion.......doing our own good, being moral, being good, cleaning up our old man,doing "good" works and being nice and sweet.

The people who THINK they are in the light are on more dangerous ground than those who know and live on dangerous ground........they KNOW they are not in the light.


The people who are off track is religious, legalistic do gooders. Not sinning like hell people...they will hit the brick wall. Those who think that they are in the light are banging their head against the brick wall and don't know it.

I know you know this, but man, we have to keep it up. We are going to be more shocked who is NOT in the eternal state than those who are..........by the way we judge fruits today.

Do you know the etymology of the word? It is to be able to choose. And since we are free, it is probably healthy to have heresies, up to a point. When the heresies pertain to what are considered the main and plain (and central) things of Scriptures, then for sure there is a problem in the body, for it exposes the lack of communion among the saints. In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity. The lack of charity...

Don't get me wrong. I do believe that many of us (both Legalists and Gracers) can get way off the deep end. I even see it in my very own congregation. But what makes me sad and sick at the same time is the way we actually seem to revel in "labeling" people with the latest thing we heard someone coin........ and make almost no distinctions between beliefs that just happen to be different from ours, and the fanatical fringe that is always present in both camps.

I make jokes about Westboro, but they are a good example. I don't group all law keepers in with that sad little group, even if I do feel some people bind themselves to religious chains that God never intended for us to carry.

I just looked it up....it looks like lack of charity ( love ) would spell it out perfectly.....and ( for example ) it looks like people that do not believe in speaking in tongues could call the "tongue talkers" heretics ...

......so it doesn't necessarily mean they are "actual heretics' according to God.....even though it goes against their denomination or for that matter any group of people....

That's something that I've noticed. Just because someone is all for the gifts of the Spirit and God moving in power doesn't necessarily mean they subscribe to the Gospel of Grace. Similarly, someone can be all for God's grace and not for the gifts of the Spirit or God moving in power. Its actually perplexing.

I've been listening to some Michael Brown on Youtube and its awesome that he debates with Jewish people to bring them to Christ. A person reaching out to the Jewish people is good in my book. It seems that his concern towards hyper-grace and what not, was sourced in people's opposition, according to him, towards a FB post on holiness. He was exhorting people to press in towards holy living (a honorable endeavor) and he got backlash from people. He was baffled at people's opposition to such an exhortation.

So, from what I gather, it seems he is sincere in his concern, but sincerely wrong. In respect to the Gospel of Grace. He does have some good defenses for Jesus as the Messiah and verses to lead a person to Christ. That I do like about him, that is praiseworthy. His opposition to the Gospel of Grace, unfortunately, is misinformed as some of the things he says "Hyper-grace" endorses is incorrect.

Anyhow I am sure we all rejoice that he attempts to reach the Jewish people.

I agree Ben..I have watched Dr. Brown talk about gay issues as well and how they have an agenda which he exposes brilliantly IMO.

There are still loads of mis-perceptions as just a few minutes on another thread I say someone say that grace believers " Do not need to confess sins" and I couldn't believe it. How can they still say things like that?

I know you confess your sins to the Lord and I love to confess them too. I love to run to my Father in every situation I find myself in. I also confess all the time who he says I am in Christ...who He is to me..how I love and trust Him..I love to confess His word back to Him...He just loves on me...we have a good, loving Father!

We say that " we don't confess our sins in order to be forgiven " because we believe forgiveness has been already done in Christ for us......but they say we do not confess sins which of course is totally false.

Many of the things people attack on here are issues you really have to spend time hunting for. I honestly think some people spend more time looking for things to put down than they do lifting God up.

You do? Jeff is a good friend. I recently "redid" that book for him with proofreading he didn't get done properly the first time, and he intends to re-release it in a year, or so.

That is why the original book has been available on Kindle recently for $2.99. (A great buy, BTW.)

The title is actually just, "Saints in the Arms of a Happy God."

Some people love his teaching, and some people are driven up a wall by his style. The many videos he's done don't even begin to show how "energetic" he is. He makes the battery bunny look sleepy. I have quoted him often here from his blog because he has an absolutely amazing way of seeing God.

My wife, who really doesn't care for him too much, jokes that I have read that particular book of his more than any other person in the world (6 times, so far) except maybe Jeff, himself. He was going to move down here last March, and was planning to attend our church, but that fell through due to finances. (Very few Christian authors make a whole lot of money.)

Jeff is so hyper (not THAT "Hyper!") that it is foolish to anticipate anything he plans on doing until he is actually in the midst of doing it.

He tells me that that particular congregation actually very actively interacts with him, verbally, when he preaches there. He'll ask a question like most preachers do, and they will shout out the answer,,,,, sometimes not the right one. LOL
