That just demonstrates that you don't understand grace or faith.
Then clue me in,please.

We are WHOLLY unrighteous, but able to do righteous deeds.

This makes no sense to me. can you clue me in?

A righteous man does what is right. Otherwise, he would not be a righteous man.

And what is righteous and what is good?

I would like your opinion on this. would you rather rent an apartment from a good person or a righteous person.

Simple. Righteousness doesn't come from us; yet it speaks within us, and we choose to obey it.

And unbelievers can do this?
I sure did before I was saved.

It is written in the prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who hears from the Father and learns comes to me. John 6:45

So Jesus answered them and said, “My teaching is not mine, but [is] from the one who sent me. If anyone wants to do his will, he will know about my teaching, whether it is from God or I am speaking from myself. John 7:16-17

There is only One who is righteous, only one who is good, as you'vesaid!
But we might get somewhere here with the Holy Spirits help, because we know that when unbelievers do what is right, it proves that Gods laws are written in their hearts and their conscience either approves or disapproves of what they do...did I get that vs right?

Maybe this is beneficial?

there is a difference between our good and righteousness(Christ). the good man will say," I know the rent is due today and i can kick you out, but just get it to me in a few days. the righteous man kicks you out at 12 AM on the rent due date. He is righteous. And God the Father is righteous, he requires payment and nothing less.

And he gives this perfect righteousness to believers, because Christ PAID our debt. The "good" folks are still renting from the "good" man, that gave them options and are "working" for their rent.

So the righteous man who you rent from has no mercy but the good man does?

And it just now strikes me that your rent story seems to have a connection to the parable about the man whose debt was forgiven who then beat and threatened the one who owed him...

Don't apologize. I have questions and talking it through with you is helping my questions. It's good to have a conversation and a back and forth where we can help each other to put the vss together to get more understanding. That doesn't happen when we think we have the answer to every question and be mean, petty and arrogant. So...you help me and I appreciate you!

It is a TOUGH subject. Because God requires perfect righteousness, not our goodness. And we have a hard time discerning our goodness and Divine goodness. Are we doing it through the Spirit, or are we operating in the flesh and our OWN "goodness"

And TO God our good is EVIL. It is wood ,hay and stubble and will be burned up.

And for the unbelievers good............... it is judged, their good or DEEDS(which they try to use for salvation or righteousness) does not compare to Christ and His RIGHTEOUS DEED.

And maybe you will address this verse? our Sins are judged and paid for.

What are the deeds that are judged if Christ paid for all sin?.....Not trapping you or anything. Just no other grace believer on this forum has addressed this for me. If Christ paid for ALL sin, and we really believe this...........what is judged?

New American Standard Bible
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

IMO, most grace believers are afraid to deal with this. They are going to get the BOOT, if they truly hold to the fact that ALL,ALL,ALL,ALL,ALL,ALL sin was paid for. Then what is Judged?...........religion and good works done in the flesh. 99 percent of christianity believes that one can lose salvation or one WILL do good works after salvation.

We are a sin focused and creature good focused society and have forgotten grace and HIS marvelous WORK.

Here's the thing. For me anyway. We think we have our construct - our theology I guess you would call it - all pounded into place, but it's all so huge, God's so huge, that we have a struggle with it because I see these endless debates and I carefully read them and I see truth in both sides usually, although sometimes, I just think both sides pick a vs to the exclusion of some other verses but no one ever fits them all together.
And if we keep doing it the same way, it's never going to come together. The definition of insanity, right? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

So it is true that unbelievers can do right or good deeds at times. I gave the vs. When unbelievers do what is right, they prove that Gods laws are written on their hearts and their consciences either approve or disapprove them in what they do.

And yet, that is Gods doing still. They did not write those laws on their hearts and they did not place their conscience within themselves. So the good they are capable of is not from themselves.

Don't know where this puts us, but I DO clearly see some of the next part. Have to go to bed though so I'll be back in the morning after I see what God might say to me over coffee.

I really enjoy talking with you all. We will see some good things from this if we walk in love with each other and listen to the Spirit.
