Haha I could not really listen to that Fatal Method!
I used to think this was dark and moody
:D
(The sound did not start for me until about 15 seconds in)

David Gilmour - Astronomy Domine

[video=youtube;GR20k5uMnl0]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR20k5uMnl0[/video]

Lime and limpid green, a second scene
A fight between the blue you once knew.
Floating down, the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground.
Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda and Titania.
Neptune, Titan, Stars can frighten.
Lime and limpid green, a second scene
A fight between the blue you once knew.
Floating down, the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground.
Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda and Titania.
Neptune, Titan, stars can frighten.
Blinding signs flap,
Flicker, flicker, flicker blam. Pow, pow.
Stairway scare, Dan Dare, who's there?
Lime and limpid green, the sound surrounds
The icy waters underground.
Lime and limpid green, the sound surrounds
The icy waters underground.

What time frame are these guys from? You're trying to mix apples and oranges.
Lol local band from modern time, hence the welcome to the 21st century lol. I get your point though. That's what I was meaning earlier when I said maybe it's a generational thing, but just the old hippy music does not sound dark to me. In fact kinda the opposite. Idk, maybe that's what I like about it though especially by comparison to modern music. Can't be gothic all the time.

A friend of mine gave me a CD once because he thought it was too dark and moody/angry, and he was trying to move away from listening to that kind of music. I had to wonder what he meant about that particular CD, though, because it was The Verve, Urban Hymns. I loved that CD! :)

This song followed Astronome Domine on Ummagumma (1969). Dark and moody personified:

[video=youtube;tMpGdG27K9o]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMpGdG27K9o[/video]

Down, down. Down, down. The star is screaming.
Beneath the lies. Lie, lie. Tschay, tschay, tschay.
[Sound of Waters blowing into the microphone]
[Light screaming from Waters]
Careful, careful, careful with that axe, Eugene.
[Very loud and prolonged scream]
[Another very loud and prolonged scream]
[Waters blowing into the microphone]
[Light screaming from Waters]
The stars are screaming loud.
Tsch.
Tsch.
Tsch.
[Low groaning sound from Waters]

I never tried to intimate the "old hippy" music was dark. There are certain songs and Cream and The Moody Blues can be very brooding.

Remember this one?

Norma Tanega "Walkin' My Cat Named Dog"

[video=youtube;SPZVrmJ2HH8]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPZVrmJ2HH8[/video]

I'm walkin all around the town
Singin all the people down
Talkin around, talkin around.

Me and my cat named Dog
Are walkin high against the fog
Singin the sun
Singin the sun

Happy, sad and crazy wonder
Chokin up my mind with perpetual dreamin...

I'm driftin up and down the street
Searchin for the sound of people
Swingin their feet, swingin their feet

Dog is a good old cat
People what you think of that?
That's where I'm at, that's where I'm at.

Happy, sad and crazy wonder
Chokin up my mind with perpetual dreamin...

Dog is a good old cat
People what you think of that?
That's where I'm at, that's where I'm at, that's where I'm at.

Pink Floyd is some good stuff, I know much of their stuff, very popular band even today. For them the closest to dark and moody I'd say is the Wall, but even then I feel like their british wit is too funny to make it dark lol.

Pondering on this though I did just remember one hippy band that is pretty dark in sound. Kinda surprised I forgot about them. Never been a particularly big fan of them, but probably the closest I could say to being dark and moody for the hippy generation.

That is my wife's favorite dance song! My favorite dance song is "Get Down Tonight" by KC and the Sunshine Band.

Some people say my love cannot be true
Please believe me, my love, and I'll show you
I will give you those things you thought unreal
The sun, the moon, the stars all bear my seal

Oh yeah!

Follow me now and you will not regret
Leaving the life you led before we met
You are the first to have this love of mine
Forever with me 'till the end of time

Your love for me has just got to be real
Before you know the way I'm going to feel
I'm going to feel
I'm going to feel

Oh yeah!

Now I have you with me, under my power
Our love grows stronger now with every hour
Look into my eyes, you'll see who I am
My name is Lucifer, please take my hand

Oh yeah!

Follow me now and you will not regret
Leaving the life you led before we met
You are the first to have this love of mine
Forever with me 'till the end of time

Your love for me has just got to be real
Before you know the way I'm going to feel
I'm going to feel
I'm going to feel

Oh yeah!

I went to see Alice Cooper around my 16th birthday :)
Loved their Love It To Death LP. I'm 18... what a great song!
This one is called Sun Arise, but for dark and moody, try Ballad Of Dwight Fry.
