the Q? is can a Christian be pro-gay Marriage ? I think that is not a real good Q>? a better one would be, If a Christian supports gay-Marriage does that Change Gods' Defintion of Marriage as HE said it should be? No it does not. A christian can support whatever he or she likes however, just because they do; Will NOT Change Gods' Mind one bit. Gen 2:24 One man one women .

yes, I have considered that .... But 2,000 years? Come on now. I believe we are quenching the Holy Spirit by our dogma. I know that God is love and I do not see that expressed in fundamentalist dogma, on the contrary, I see a God of hatred and eternal damnation, how do you reconcile such things?
Would God be good and just if He didn't deal with evil? No.

Can a Christian deny Christ?

Hint: Remember Peter?

Peter denied Christ but that was before the death and resurrection. He was still doubting if he was the messiah. After all what messiah could die.

scripture was canonized by humans who had a dogma, books which disagreed were proclaimed anathema.

you are convinced that your dogma is true. Since God is silent you can not speak with authority beyond the books accepted.

convienent isn't it?

Well Vernon actually ,
the bible does speak very clearly what Marriage is to be and the bible is very clear homosexuality is a sin. even those who claim to be gay pastors preach that. But lets just say for the sake of arugment and take God out of the equation. the very act is self destructive as Nature and life does not support it. it take a male and a female to bring for life of it's kind. Now you can say I choose to love who I want to but that would mean you are agreeing with the emotion which could be deceptive . If this sexual preference was so normal then why are so little involved in it? less than 1 % of the world population claims to be gay and I am being very giving with that % too. it is completely against the Natural order of attraction which is needed to carry on the race of people and 99.98% of people are in line with that .

Now if you Bring God into the topic again you cannot argue God is love and say "scripture was canonized by humans who had a dogma, books which disagreed were proclaimed anathema." that same thing can be said about the context of God's love then. You cannot say God is love to justfy what God said in the same dogmatic books homosexuality is sin. That is called- self deceived and error in biblical interpretation

I am impressed that this thread made it this far, as if both sides of the argument had to be defended. That's odd... On this forum especially, this should be very one sided. Though God calls us to love our neighbors, that doesn't mean love and accept all they do. I have even heard some yahoos say that any time the bible talks about a man loving another man dearly, it was a gay relationship. This is just non-sense. There should be no need to defend this.

God loves everyone, but it doesn't mean that we don't break His heart when we engage in activities such as homosexuality. To try to defend it in any way is just ridiculous and to present any scripture justifying is flat out heresy and blasphemy!

Vernon, either you are not a Christian or you are a Christian who is confused. Let us see what Jesus thinks about the subject and what love is according to God who is love as well as other things. Also your argument against the canon of the Bible as we have it today is refuted by Josh McDowell in his book Evidence That Demands A Verdict as well as the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. He also has others that give evidence for the Christian faith which one really should consider before they accept or reject God in their hearts. These books continue what he started in the first book. They are called More Evidence That Demands A Verdict and New Evidence That Demands A Verdict.

Matthew 19:4-6
Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Mark 10:6-9
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Genesis 2:18, 20b-24
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”... But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

As for you going against Scripture, this passage lovingly speaks out against you.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

All Scripture means both the Old and New Testaments.

We are not picking and choosing what we believe, it is you who is upholding this heresy and cherry-picking what you want. Our other response to you is found in Acts.

Acts 5:29
We must obey God rather than men!

As for God's definition for love it is found in 1 Corinthians 13 as well as in the words of Jesus in the gospels

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and sovereign Lord, that he died on the cross for your sins, and rose from the dead on the third day. Follow Jesus do not follow the world and its false teachings. When God says something is wrong in both the Old and the New Testaments it is wrong no matter what culture, society, and/ or your wicked and deceitful heart says. God bless. Have a beautiful day! :)

First of all, homosexual's can not get married. Marriage means the bond and promise between a man and a woman. So call it what you want, just not marriage. Second, if God opposes homosexuality, which is laid out in First Corinthians, then how can we, believers, condone it? People choose to be homosexual, just as people choose to lie, or steal. It is a sin and it can not be condoned by any TRUE believer.
Sorry Canadian and U.S. governments have already changed it and re defined it. I just rufuse to go alone with the lie.

Disobedient Christians maybe or professing only. Where do you see in Scripture one instance of same sex marriage?
I do not base my understanding on scripture alone, if I did I would justify slavery and ethnic cleansing among many other atrocities supported by scripture.

I am not impressed by sola scriptura, it is a ludicrous proclamation.
I understand Scripture alone is not your cup of tea but it is a sad day in paradise when you can't even show ONE instance in Scripture of same sex marriage.

I agree. This was demonstrated to me yesterday when I learned about the history of the dissolution of Exodus International, which was a ministry devoted to helping homosexuals escape their sins through Christ. According to a former board member (in some capacity), a popular 'grace' pastor/teacher (Grace Church Orlando) co-opted the organization after installing a homosexual member of his congregation as its president, who then shut the organization down in accordance with his view of grace (no condemnation) with the goal of reopening it along the lines of 'grace' teachings, in which homosexuality would not be condemned, but be accepted as one's self identity in Christ.
Read the same thing happened in Canada. So sad.

The slavery of the bible was in no way like the slavery in America. It was more bond servant with the Jewish people. And there where laws protecting them set out by God Himself.

Ones "self identity" in Christ. Whats so messed up about the whole thing is that this is a created social class based on sexual preference. If this holds true, then people who like to engage in illicit acts with animals have the same rights to marry and have all the tax benefits that come with it. This isn't race or gender equality, this is asking for it to be legal to unnaturally have sex and be recognized for how you like to have sex. So, once again, in that case, animal lovers unite!!!

And I seriously don't see God saying "Oh, you identify with having sex with animals, cool! Come get your reward"

It is a sad state when such a question would be entertained much less asked, the 2 words gay and marriage do NOT even belong in the same sentence, unless of course one defines gay as colorful or happy (which in this thread is not the case) the creator of all things created and defined marriage, and gave his stamp of approval upon it, any other "union" of 2 people is NOT marriage, a relationship yes but not marriage. The fact that such a question can even be asked with any seriousness only shows the level of moral and ethical decline of this age.... (as in the days of Noah) you see the separation between light and darkness will only increase, now is the time to leave the valley of decision and make a choice for right and stand against sin (any sin) we are not judges, however we are not to be silent when truth can set the captives free.
AMEN AND AMEN!!!!!

Taking your words here at face value, I will simply ask this... how would you propose to reach professing LGBTQ folks with the love of God, without compromising Who God is?
as it is today no fundamentalist is reaching the LGBTQ folks with anything but hatred and condemnation.

God is love, so if we present God as who he is, in truth, I can not understand how anyone would reject him. God loves everyone and desires for none to perish, if God desires for none to perish, then guess what 'none will perish".

I can hear the fundies screaming:"most will perish" only thoses who believe like us will be saved!!! (Nutsville USA)
they preach hatred and exclusion. They do not preach the truth.

Jesus saved everyone, what, you think God is not able to save everyone? Is he weak and full of hatred like we are?

God has saved everyone through Jesus Christ, to deny this is against scripture and all true believers know this.

Many will suffer, because we all must suffer as our Lord suffered. You will either suffer in this life or you will suffer in the life to be revealed.

You want some to suffer eternally while God saves you? Are you out of your mind? Jesus died for all humanity. Gid saved everyone.

some will suffer beyond our understanding to reach the truth, while others will enter in with little sufferage, but we will all understand the separation of hate and love and why God is love.

i condemn no one because I have seen the light and have lived in darkness, and realize from my experience that God has saved all humanity, and is bringing all to the revelation of his love revealed in Jesus Christ.

If God is love, and two people love one another and are of the same sex, how is this condemned?
As the bible calls it ( God that is ). unnatural!

You wrote earlier that you don't believe in sola Scriptura. So then, how do you determine what is truth?

I reconcile such things because I don't see a god (small-g) of hatred. I see a God Who is slow to anger and abounding in love, is the very source and definition of all that is good and upright, and is holy and cannot tolerate sin. Because He is the Creator, it is His sovereign right to dictate what is sinful and how He will deal with it. He does not desire that anyone perish, but that all to come to repentance. He loves His created kids so much that He gave His only Son in our place, because on our own we could not attain the holiness He requires. And I see all this in Scripture. As for 2,000 years, well, He is still speaking by His Spirit, completely consistently with His written Word.
He is the same yesterday today and forever

Though I am not a fundamentalist, I will say this. It is hard to reach them with any message as their "Life Style" is extremely worldly and based on satisfying themselves. Its not a matter of saying "You must love the opposite sex" , that's a bad way to go about it. Rather, see that in Christ, you can leave all the sexual urges behind. But yes, show them Christ. Don't toss a bible at them.

I guess Peter was a fundie...deal with it.

2 Peter 3:5-7 KJV
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: [6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: [7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

You seem clearly to deny the scriptures and the truth of Gods Word.... Yet you seem to pick and choose what scriptures are from God? Condemn no one unless you are condemned is Gods Word.... what do you just pick what you want to obey?
That is the same way Mormons do it, they deny the bible except where it suits their man made beliefs. I'm all or nothing, it is Gods word or not.

yes we are going to suffer, I understand, I've suffered greatly already. And I am sure will continue to do so until I come to the perfect realization of God's love.
