Comments such as Phil's making against woman are just carnal. It's the spirit of self-righteousness (of which we all are prone to in the flesh) and he doesn't recognize it yet. Either he's been hurt by a woman in his past or he's just brainwashed with some churchy dogma. Either way, the Holy Spirit is the One who reveals the truth to us.

Nonetheless, it's pure ignorance for us to think quoting a scripture gives us a license to be spiteful and critical of others. If it doesn't look like Jesus, it ain't Jesus. Plain and simple. (That goes quadruple for me, because I'm pointing my finger.)
Really? You think I am basing my position because I have been brainwashed or in reaction to how I have personally been treated? You have no clue what kind of man I am.
Get out of the deep end of the pool before you drown. Shallow people, like you, should always be in the shallow end.

What you, and every other woman here that takes exception to my posts, doesn't understand or refuse to acknowledge is that women are vain creatures and they dress to be seen. Much like a peacock spreading its feathers to garner attention.
You think it is okay for joyce meyers to be a preacher? Fine. You think it is okay for her to wear tight jeans? Certainly not me, but some men might be attracted to her because of that. Tight jeans aren't comfortable. She dresses like that because the poor delusional woman thinks it makes her attractive.

Tell you a little story.
Few years ago I went to a new church at a friends request for wednesday nite service. It had several entrances so I waited for others to arrive so I could observe which door they went in. Didn't want to embarrass myself by going in the wrong entrance.
A woman pulled up in a parking place behind me in a late model chevy pickup. She proceeded to pull down the visor, which was a lighted mirror on the other side. She then took a good 7 or 8 minutes to carefully apply her makeup, then went in.
For church. She already had makeup on, she just went over it. For church. The ONLY reason for healthy women wearing makeup and being that fastidious about it is to be seen. That woman, like those of you here on the defensive, don't understand that you're walking in the flesh or don't care. You dress because you want others to look at you. To think you're pretty or attractive. You dress flashily and put on loud makeup for attention. If you're honest with yourself.
Maybe the preacher in that church never explained it to them. Women on here don't have the luxury of falling back on ignorance as excuse now. The object of living is to serve God and go to heaven. That's it. Period. Unless you're not saved.
Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

This whole idea that men learning things
about God from women would cause them
to become effeminate is just thilly. Er, Silly.

Just some fun facts.....

A peacock is a male bird.
It's called a peaCOCK, as in
'The cock of the walk',
being the most brightly
and ornate of the peafowl.

The female is known as a peahen,
and is less flamboyant.

The expression, 'pretty as a peacock'
actually refers to the male of the species.

Now, excuse me, but warm weather is approaching,
and I need to find my green and purple shorts. :p

Find the peacock. ;)

I don't know what all the controversy is, we all know a woman is just a rib with 2 eyes...
God took the rib but what it could mean is the closest place to a man's heart.
And He didn't take Eve from Adam's foot so he could be over here or from the head so she could be over him.

So the wife of the pastor has to shut up, do nothing, well maybe theach the boys in kid's church?
Older women and widows were to teach the younger women.
I like those churches where those wives that never did anything now can step out and have a cell group with women and get the harvest in and men don't bother if she shares something to them too.
It is about what God says.

You read it so literally? And the fruit was an apple or some such? The way I read it, is Adam was made fully in the image of God, and then those things which we have come to know as the feminine aspects were removed from Adam to form Eve.

I suspect you are responding to someone else's post, but you didn't quote them so I will take your comment on its own terms.

Frankly, this is an attempt at justifying sin. Men are NOT designed (by God) to lust, or to look at women who are dressed in any particular way. It is the sin nature within us that gives the proclivity to lust.

Job 31:1 "I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I gaze at a virgin?" (NASB)
"I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman." (NIV)

By conscious control of our eyes, we can avoid looking at all. Or, if we do see something which could prompt lustful thoughts, we can look away, or look only at a woman's face, not her body. It might take practice, but it is possible. Honouring God by treating all people, women and men, as image-bearers of God is worth the effort.
I stopped watching one news channel because one of the reporters is a woman and I can't look at her ever even though she is modest in the way she dresses and it is no fault of her own. So I don't watch the one news station ever. I imagine she didn't want people to look at her because she use to style her hair as a nerd.

What I'm saying is, you can't expect me to go through life with my eyes closed either and I'm going to see because I have to get through this life.

The analogy is that if you want to keep your machines clean, you don't let them sit in a dirty garage. You have to clean the garage if you don't want your stuff to get dirty and if people have no moral problem with dressing not modestly then from a lawyer's point of view, it is a mutual responsibility. I was visiting my Dad in hospice and one of the residents was sitting on her bed naked with the door open and she was having mental problems and the nurses saw her and some of the residents saw her because she had the door open and she took her clothes off. And if you think you can go through life not seeing anything inappropriate then it isn't going to happen.

Do you know what's in every woman's heart that you can judge them?
Women wear tight jeans because everyone does that, to fit in. Wide jeans makes you look manly, well if you're skinny. They forget sometimes though that skinny jeans is for skinny women, so you see nothing. Those girls in our church wearing tight and too open shirts were so stupid, they had no idea. Someone had to tell them. They thought it was normal. Women think different.
I used to put make up on in church, a lot, red lipstick, the fanciest dresses to please my husband. When he was not around and I went to the office I looked plain like now that I'm single. I thought you had to obey and please your husband. If other men would think I did it for them that's their stupid problem. Only did that when I was young and had no idea how men thought.
You blame a kid for wearing a nice pink dress and then a pervert looks at her?

I tend to take all of the bible, except maybe just the very beginning in Genesis, literally.
It may be what you say is true. The story may be an analogy.
But I won't even speculate, except to say that if I was going to guess, I would stick closer to the story in literal way.
I have found that for most of the bible, there are clear answers to what it says.
Others, like the creation story, just make my head spin. I have heard so so many interpretations.
I think there was a reason God did not spend much time on it relative to the remainder of the bible.
So I am resigned that I will never truly discern the true explanation to some of the creation story, and leave it that.
